  • Just received my item with a virtual defect display(excessive glue or minor cracked glass) out of the box. I am told to return the item and get a replacement late, but the return postage will not be covered by RIO, I wonder if it is fair for consumer to pay for the return postage on an obviously DOA item!? Is RIO a reputable online retailer at all?

  • The comments from one the RIO staffs are very aggressive:

    "As you can see and now we have checked you received the unit the day before and signed for the goods accepting the goods and in its condition!"

    In fact, the parcel was left on my door step without any signatures on receive. My feedback is RIO's delivery service is very unprofessional, the goods could be missing, again I am challenging RIO to provide my signature to receive the delivery goods.

  • Now, I am accused "defamation" by RIO staff - Paul, but they failed to provide my signature to receive the goods. RIO's response so far is rather disappointed, I wish my case can be checked by a senior member of RIO team as it seems been handled by an emotional person.

    Firstly, Just to cover a few points or questions you have asked here. You asked if Rio is a reputable online retailer. We have been successfully trading online for about 8 or 9 years now and have had bricks and mortar stores for almost 20 years now.

    In regards to the return shipping costs. Almost all Australian online retailers have the same policy. Customer covers the postage cost of returning a faulty or damaged product. This quote is directly from the ACCC website. “You (the customer) are responsible for returning the product, unless the cost of doing so is significant.” We consider the cost of well under $10 not all that significant.

    That being said, we did offer to cover the shipping costs on a couple of occasions regardless.

    In regards to “RIO's delivery service is very unprofessional” There is not much we can do there as our goods are shipped through AusPost parcel post service. Unfortunately, we don’t have much say in Australia Post’s quality control. They are required to hand the goods over with a signature or leave a parcel pickup form so you can pick up good from your nearest post office.Maybe take up this issue with your local post office delivery manager.

    I have taken over your case from this point on. I have spent this morning going through the 6 or 7 emails between yourself and our staff and as stated we would be more than happy to pay for the return of the faulty radio. The last thing Rio wants is to leave a sour taste in anyone’s mouth as we pride ourselves on having a fantastic reputation. We have had a few HUGE bargains lately and there are MANY more to come!

    Thanks for replying my concerns from previous posts.

    The final solution to refund the defect product(postage covered by you) is acceptable and justified.

    All my emails and posts are based on the facts. Your staff's comments were rather emotional and aggressive if not abusive.

    Your interpretation of ACCC's policy on DOA product is not accurate, but I don't think we shall go through that path as I have accept your solution.

  • I just received it. It looks good (haven't tried it yet), but I wonder why the box had previously been opened and the battery already installed. I normally prefer the box to be sealed when I buy electronics….
