  • Thanx op :-)

  • +16

Yes thank you for making me buy another pair of headphone I don't need ;-)

  • +2

Anyone know if you can use two of these from one base station so my wife and I can wear a pair each to watch movies while our child is sleeping? (both pairs receiving the same signal) ??

    • +2

      I believe so, yes.

    • +1
    • You can use up to 4 headsets with the same signal.

    • Excellent - thanks!

    • +1

You definitely can with the RS170 which I have (and use the HDR170 extra headset). I'd like to know if I can use these with my base station tho

      • +2

        I have paired a RS160 headphone with a RS170 base.

    • My two pairs arrived today - perfect for the job.

A little smaller than I expected (for my big head) but will work just fine. Very happy for the price.

  • I got a $20 voucher from the Easter promotion on COTD. The voucher didn't come through in en email when they said it would, so I contacted them three times and eventually got a response with a voucher code. I went to use the code to buy something and it said it was invalid. I contacted them again and this time got a quicker response saying that they had added $20 to my account instead. This worked and let me buy something with the money. I wonder if they make it difficult to get your voucher/money so that you will just give up.

    • +3

My voucher worked without a problem. I realised I hadn't received my cinema voucher from this deal when I signed into my account for this deal. I contacted them on live chat and received my voucher within minutes. Their support is no where near as bad as Dick Smith or Harvey Norman, and I must say their delivery times have improved immensely.

    • Yes difficult to use for something you may really want. Fancy routinely checking the Catch site daily to possibly find something that you might want and is also good value? No thanks!

      • Well if you are a technology fan, and with Dick Smith now on board with COTD, there may be some great bargains coming in the next few weeks. For example, possibly a PS4 for $368 delivered https://www.catchoftheday.com.au/event/39011/ or $29 Nokia 520 https://www.catchoftheday.com.au/event/39188/ (assuming you have a $100 voucher) if they keep these sort of deals up.

        • Sorry, please ignore.

        • -1

You mean $468 delivered for the PS4. Don't think they'd go down to $368 at this stage.

        • +3

Yes, current price is $468 delivered, but come 17/6/14 when you receive your voucher, and if this deal is still valid, then it will be $468 minus the value of your voucher (up to $100). This is just an example. I'm sure there will be some other Dick Smith bargains on COTD before the EOFY.

  • I see no mention of any voucher or anything when I added 2 to my cart and viewing the cart. What's the catch?

Also will I be able to use the two vouchers ($100 total) in a single purchase?

    • Just wait for the voucher to be emailed to you by 12pm EST 17.06.2014. I didn't receive any such message either.

      • Thanks just ordered 2!

    • oops.

  • could anyone please recommend cheaper wireless headset for TV, I just need a pair to watch the World Cup and that's it so really don't want spend $100+ for this. I tried ALDI 's but not good at all, the wireless doesn't work at all.

    • +4

The problem with the cheaper sets is that they tend to use analogue radio frequencies, which cause hissing and interference problems easily.

These headphones on the other hand use digital frequencies to transmit audio, and hence the transmission is interference and hiss free (assuming the audio source doesn't produce its own hiss). This is probably as cheap as you are going to get if you want hiss free wireless headphones.

    • These are cheaper ($70) and you'll get a much longer range than digital ones.
They're fine for listening to TV audio.
      http://www.dicksmith.com.au/earphones-headphones/philips-wir…

Hook up the base unit to your TV's 3.5mm headphone jack.
Btw, The price drop ends today.
You can walk into DSE and buy them now so that you will have them for the first World Cup game in a few days time.

  • What wired headphones would these be similar to in sound quality?
I don't really need wireless, but if these are decent I might get them.

    • I've been using the Sennheiser HD201 for air travel and find them quite adequate. Full over ear enclosure and efficient passive noise cancellation. COTD had them last week for $19, apparently finished now, other sellers online have them from about $26 (+ delivery).

  • a dyson air multiplier for $199 + ~$13 shipping - $99.50 seems pretty good: https://www.catchoftheday.com.au/event/39119/product/dyson-a…

    • Is that the original or revised air multiplier? I read that Dyson spent $60m on research to update the design- the revision uses 40% less power & is 75% less noisy.

      • Surely the original. The revised model also has heating.

  • I got a question. If I use my $20 voucher from Easter sale on this item. Am I qualified to get $49.5(half price) voucher?

    • Good question. I would contact support (live chat) tomorrow and ask them, although Monday is a public holiday for Victoria so support may be closed.

      • Yeah, that's the problem. Thanks for the good tip!

    • Just bought using voucher from Easter as well.

    • Do you mean the Scoopon birthday sale? I bought a $20 COTD voucher for $7. Used it for the cash match sale to buy underwear, and received a $20 voucher back. Used this voucher in the 50% cash back sale to buy a duvet cover set! and will get further $10 to spend. So yes, I think you can use your voucher!

  • +1

Does anyone know when the 50% COTD cash back started? I bought these headphones from then on the 30th May and dont remember seeing this offer

BTW, the headphones are pretty damn good, I am not a audiophile, but i bought a pair of cheap wireless headphones from big w for $25 - $30 as I needed a new pair as my old ones died, after about a minute of use, i returned them as the sound was terrible, and that's being polite. I can highly recommend these! Plus they came with a pair of AAA eneloops, you dont see that very often

    • +1

      3rd June 2014 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/147002

+1 for the Eneloops. I have heard that too.

      • When I bought a pair of these about 18 months ago, it was a pair of Eneloop Lites (600 mAH)

        • Both pairs I ordered from the previous COTD deal came with normal white AAA Eneloops.

    • +1

Don't worry about not being an audiophile, your hearing is likely the same (certainly they don't have magic ears in any case) and you possibly suffer from less confirmation bias owing to having less expectations about the speakers you are listening to.

  • Bought a pair for my dad to use previously, seemed pretty good! And now I have a pair for work. :)

  • Anyone know if these would be good for cutting out noise from airplane travel??

    • Don't you need a powerpoint for these to work?

      • You can put batteries in the transmitter as well, but they're not noise cancelling or anything.

      • the receiver is powered by either batteries or using AC Adaptor, hence portable. The headset comes with two rechargable batteries.

    • Wireless headphones on a plane, you know these are not infrared ones, its a radio transmitter ?

I'm sure you will find any observant flight attendant will tell you to stop using them, so take a backup pair as well if your going to attempt to use them on a plane.

  • +2

I had just decided to buy some wireless headphones and checked OzBargain first and this was the first deal on the page.

    • +10

Sounds like a positive vote for the OP may be in order…

  • +1

Purchased two pairs, from the deal I posted. All I can say is @#$K!

  • +2

Took me 30minutes but I convinced myself to get one

  • Maximum of 1 voucher per person, per account,

    Hey OP,
If I buy 2 in one transaction , will I get a voucher for only 1 item ?

    • If you buy 2 your cart total ( excluding delivery) will be $199.90. Then you will receive a voucher for $99.95. You will have to purchase 2 all in the same one transaction.

  • With all these deals on the Sennheiser RS series, I wonder if they are about to be updated. I paid about $250 for the RS 160 4 years ago and they are still being advertised for as mush as $350: http://www.velvetsystems.com/Sennheiser.RS160.Wireless.Headp…

  • just in time for the world cup. awesome OP.

  • I guess I can't use this for my PS3 and XBox360?

    • +1

You cant use it for chat, but if you have a hdmi monitor with audio break out I bet you could… the turtlebeach deals would suit better.

    • I still kicking myself for not getting this Sony a year a go from COTD https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/96421.

If anyone still have it in good condition and want to sale, let me know to work out a deal.

      • +5

Let it go guy, it's been a year :p

  • Hmm, no sign of voucher, bought two, when/how does it come?

    • +3

Vouchers will be emailed by 12pm EST 17.06.2014. Everything has been mentioned in the main body of the deal.

  • Thanks Op. Decided to stop being a procrastechnator. Ordered 2. Didn't know I had a $10 credit voucher from a previous OZB deal.

  • Gents, it's all about sound quality for me, wireless or not - how do these compare with the M50s?

  • nice - hopefully is good!

  • Can't let you guys have all the fun. Got one, thanks OP!

  • Is this 50% voucher only for selected products of will I get one if I buy the vans shoes?

  • I have a pair of analogue Sony headphones. With these being digital is there a big improvement over sound quality? I use them predominantly for watching TV and bluray movies.

  • If I bought something from this sale last week, does this count as another sale? Seeing as the sale ended and restarted? and then got renamed and new items added?

    • +1

I would check with customer service but I think they are closed today. It is a new event so I would think you should qualify for another voucher. Hopefully they will extend this sale and you will be able to ask customer service tomorrow.

  • I wonder if the voucher can be used across the COTD group site?

    • +1

good question. can these vouchers be used for scoopon or grocery run?

      • Most likely just COTD. It would be a bonus if it could be used across the board.

      • Last I heard, Scoopon wasn't as close to COTD as grocery run/mumgo etc

  • thanks. just grabbed one with 12 mins to spare :)

    • Extended time!! lol

  • +2

I don't want to hijack this, but be careful buying the $5.00 Krill Oil the use by date is 30 June 2014 and Catch of the day wont change the quantity I ordered. Very slack customer service and I would imagine that this would be illegal

  • I think its been extended!

  • Extended for 24hrs again

  • +1

This deal came at a very convenient time with the Football World Cup just around the corner. Thank you.

  • Sorry bit off topic ..but does anyone have any idea about the stark pressure washer.
    http://www.catchoftheday.com.au/product/starke-saw-3000ic-18…
I looking to buy a pressure washer. I couldn't find much info about it on google. Does anyone know its a good quality pressure washer?

  • Good timing OP, got in trouble again last night for watching an action bloke movie with too much volume, and with the world cup around the corner this was a logical not logitech buy.

  • i pulled the trigger on these to keep the peace with the GF during the WC. Although i might also try them with my headphone out on my guitar amp to replace some road worn AKG's.

  • Wow bought that bar fridge mentioned earlier not realising it was part of the voucher deal. Never mentioned anything while checking out. Will have to keep an eye on my emails to make sure it is sent through.

  • I'm gun shy with this one. I know I don't need it but I keep looking for reasons why I should buy it. I notice it also takes AAA's so almost convinced myself that would work well with my now stock pile of Eneloops - someone willing to push me over line??

    • Sleep on it tonight. There will still be stock remaining tomorrow.

  • 5 headphones, a pair of ears…. Aah heck, I'll get my 6th. :p

  • Dammit I got two pairs :-)
I'll need to bolster my AA Eneloop stash with some AAA's as well :-)

  • Who was hoping to receive their headphones prior to the World Cup?
Noticed, mine haven't been shipped as yet.

    • Mine have shipped. Due for delivery today. It did say 5-7 days on the listing.

  • Mine arrived today. I'm in Melbourne though.

  • +1

Got mine today and so far pretty good.. Sound quality isn't bad, could do with a little more bass but more than acceptable.. There is a vague hint of hiss when there's no audio stream but it's unnoticeable when listening to a stream. I've been using them for about an hour and they sit quite comfortably. It's a cold day in Melbourne so will use them all this afternoon and keep my ears warm :) They come with a set of AAA eneloops for the headphones, but you'll need a set of AA's for the transmitter (if you use batteries).. Transmitter can be plugged in 24/7 to power, and the power pack has a power splitter so you can recharge the headphones at the same time.

The transmitter range is pretty good.. could get to the other end of the house before it started to break up. That said, it's very handy having cordless headphones.. don't need to take them off whenever i leave the comfort of my computer chair.. All up, impressed by the build quality and quality of sound for $100.. let alone a 'free' $50 voucher..

    • Good review.

    • how did you get the phones out?

      • I hear ya, it took some serious surgical precision with some strong sharp scissors.

  • help..how to open the package??

good god..15 mins and 3 bandaids later..its out..

    • Just a pair of scissors.. took me about a minute.. cut all 4 sides off and it's open sesame.. I never use a knife on those packages coz you'll end up with lots of cuts.. :)
