Wireless Seagate GoFlex 500GB Portable HD - $99 (POTENTIAL PRICE ERROR) + $4.95 Del @ JB HI-FI

300

Had a quick look around, seems cheap, like very cheap. If you want it, suggest you don't muck around.

Everyone else is at $199.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE:

  • Has a rechargable battery for mobility
  • This is a Wifi and USB 3.0 HD
  • It includes a web server on the HDD so you can stream your movies directly from any other portable device.
  • There is a similar (but more simple 1TB which can be had for ~199 @ TGG) device which appears to be missing the internal web server.

Would think that's the right price the 1gig is around 150 to 200.

    • i had (what i thought) was a proper look, can't see it for anything less than $171 from a store I haddn't heard of

      https://www.google.com.au/shopping/product/17916183119822735…

    • I mean 1tb dohh too early.

    • Ok, this was irritating me, couldn't work out why the 1TB was listed for cheaper.

The 500GB has a build in web browser, so you can stream your movies to your portable devices. It's a slightly different device.

  • +2

Yeah, really wouldn't pay any more considering 500GB

Wish we can open and stick a 2tb disk in this! anyone done this before?

    • +2

Yes. It can be done, but you need a 9.5mm drive.

      http://www.hackseagatesatellite.com/wordpress/hardware-modif…

You can stick a SSD in here if you want longer battery life.

    • +2

There is some crazy blog about this hard disk modding firmware and all that

      There you go.

      http://www.hackseagatesatellite.com/wordpress/welcome/

      HARDWARE MODIFICATIONS:

Replace your Hard Disk on your GoFlex Satellite or Wireless Plus or Fuel with a Solid State Drive for SCREAMING PERFORMANCE!

It will be shock proof. Put it in your haversack and roam around town with no fear of a hard drive failure. The GFS / W+ / Fuel can be your NAS in the car for a whole family of fun!
Better battery life! SSDs takes up lesser power than conventional Hard Disk.

        have you read the post?

        • Yes i did. He's saying he wishes he could open the Seagate enclosure and put a 2TB disk in it. I'm saying it's cheaper buying a third party enclosure in itself and using that with his 2TB HDD. Why my post got so many negative votes over that is any one's guess just told a fact.

        • You still didnt read this post well..

Read the first word in the title. It starts with a 'w'

        • If you're talking about a 2.5" wireless HDD enclosure here you go still cheaper than this $99 and no modifications and no breaking sealed clips needed

          Where is the $25 one?

        • $25 one is USB 3 only. Not every one needs a wireless HDD enclosure

      • even enclosure for $25 is expensive. you paid too much

        • Depends where it's bought from.

nice - been snooping these for a few months!

    • hope you managed to get your order in!

I paid around this price a while ago from Amazon, near the end of 2012:

Is it safe to assume that this HDD creates its own router access (like a hot spot). I.e. you don't need any 3rd party router to get access to it?

    • +1

Sorry was meant to click +. You might need the Seagate app on your ipad or android device.

      • +2

        I clicked the + for you :)

        • +1

Wonder why you can't take the + or - away.

You can, just click on 'votes' underneath the post you voted for.

        All good. :)

HDD includes its own router and web based media server.

  • +1

    it is also uPnP

  • I remember looking this model 1 week ago, at this price, check the app reviews

  • Looks excellent for travelling

  • +1

Being "Factory Scoop", I tend to believe that's a legitimate price

  • +1

When the 1TB of this version becomes $99, I would be all over this.

This is handy, I can imagine when they do a 2TB on the cheap.

  • Expired? Or not available online?

  • its now expired

  • GONE !!!!!

    "Not Available Online"

  • +1

I've updated as expired. they've taken the product down (rather than just out of stock), perhaps it was a price error.

hope a few of you were able to enjoy.

  • +1

Wow. Must have just scraped in. Ordered mine about 5 mins ago!
    Thx

  • Just ordered mine

Ozbargain - finding that sweet spot where the cost of redirecting staff to process refunds and apology emails is outweighed by the aggregate losses on a pricing error

    • +3

Muhahaha, but the funniest thing is I will never pay more than the lowest price ever. Still waiting for Dell $9 printers again, I've been hand inking all my print outs for ages now.

  • +2

price would be correct - This is the first revision of this product (called a GoFlex Satellite) that first became available about 2 to 3 years ago - This is really, really old stock!

    • Did the Wireless Plus replace this?

      • yeah - almost 18mths ago now, it did.
