Dan Murphy's $10 off Whisky - Online Orders Only

1900
WHISKYLIVE14

Here is one for the Ozbargain Whisky Lovers… I picked up this code from the Whisky Live Show yesterday… It expires tomorrow so get in quick…

Ive also attached a link for a cracking price for Glenfarclas 12 Year Old… this is normally $89.99 and they are having a delivery special of $69.95! minus $10 from the coupon code and then free delivery using DMWEL0614 and you get a fantastic bottle of scotch for $59.95!

To use both codes you will need to call up the online sales people to apply 2 codes at once… I just did it and they had no problems doing it.

If you want a very cheap, but good quality scotch to get started on give this one a try https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_380517/label-5-clas…
with the coupon it's $23, I got a few of them (as well as several others that were a bit more pricey)

    • Agree! The Label 5 12 year old is a good one too! Also for something a bit different the Glen Moray 10 YO Chardonnay Cask comes down to roughly $37…

      • I got a 12 year old as well, I haven't tried it before

I was at whisky live yesterday as well, but I must have skipped that table, there were too many to choose from.

        • Can you order online and pick up in-store

        • it's online order (pick up or delivery), though the code wasn't working for one which i wanted to get online so i showed them when i went to the store and they gave me the discount anyway.

    • +6

Label 5 is some of the worst tripe I've ever tried. About $32 over priced.

      • +2

after the $10 off coupon code, they should give you $10 for drinking it

    • sweet i think ill grab this, as i stil have the bonus offer from amex~ i bought the gift card spend $15 get $5 back? so this makes it 18 for me :D

  • Thanks much, got a birthday party tomorrow.

  • Code not working for Label 5.

    • +2

Worked for me 25 minutes after your comment.

  • Thanks OP and also Pauli. BAM just got me one.

  • Great deal. Bought a bottle of Bushmills 10 yo, only $50, with Qwibble giving me another $3.80 cashback. Cracking Irish whiskey for the price of Jack Daniels.

  • Tempted to try one of the few Japanese whiskies DM stocks. But they're so expensive compared even to some single malt scotches!

    • I grabbed a Nikka (from the barrel) from uncle dans a few weeks ago. It is really outstanding single malt; although not cheap (500 ml).

      • +2

        Yeah, certainly pricey!
I ordered Bailie Nicol Jarvie for ~$27 this time, looks like the Japanese whiskies have to wait.

        • My brother bought me a bottle of the suntory yamazaki 2 weeks . looking forward to it.

      • Is it a pain in the arse to pour? I could imagine the bottle shape will lend itself to spillage

        • +1

Well picked, Eagle Eye! Requires concentration: lucky it's a sipper, not a drinker.

      • +1

Nikka is not really a single malt, it's a blend of whiskeys including grain whiskey and then re-barreled. I'd say it's closer to bourbon than scotch but it's still a very nice drop.

      • It's the cask strength that pushes the price up, unfortunately. :(

    • -1

I tried some Japanese yesterday, they are ok, but you can get some much better scotch for the same price or significantly cheaper

      • As with scotch, different qualities and different tastes.

        Edit: typo auto correct

        • Oh: stay classy, San Diego

  • whats a whisky thats easy to drink for a newbie? I bought a glenmorangie and for my first whisky it was pretty hard to swallow

    • +1

      ballantines 12 yr old

    • Try the Glen Moray Classic

      • This one. Very good bang for buck. Even the 12yo is a good drop. Like with any good whiskey , drink neat with only 2-3 drops of water in a dram glass.

    • Irish whiskey is very smooth (although you did ask for whisky)

    • +4

the biggest tip i have is to buy two bottles. Unless you're consumed a lot of whiskey you won't really be able to tell the differences between them. If you have more than one drop to try per session it gives you something to think about rather than the burning you've described.

Any of the speysides are a safe bet, glenfiddich, glenlivet etc

      • This is a brilliant idea - and it also gives you an excuse to stock up a home bar with some manly class.

Start off with some cheaper more readily available single malts like the aforementioned Glenfiddich and Glenlivet & perhaps some blends like Johnnie Walker and Chivas and work your mouth and wallet up from there.

Unless you want to really shock your mouth - perhaps avoid anything from the Islay region to start with.

    • +3

Glenlivet, hands down. Sub $40 with this deal. Enjoy.

    • +1

Ballantine's is pretty easy to drink for a novice. As a new whiskey drinker I quite liked Laphroaig 10 year old although the very smokey flavour may turn some off. Whatever you do don't try Talisker until you have a taste for whiskeys. It has a strong iodine like flavour.

    • thanks everyone. Put an order for glenlivet. I hope its not as difficult to swallow as the glen morangie. I had to dilute it a lot in order to be able to seperate the individual flavours. Then again i dont really know much about whiskey and its an interesting learning experience.

    • +1

Hmm perhaps either try an Irish whisky as someone recommended (Jameson 18yo is a nice drop).. or maybe a Dalwhinnie. It takes a while to get used to sipping dark spirits, if all the whisky options are still a bit to rough for you, maybe start with a nice dark rum - Ron Zacapa or Angostura 1919 come to mind. Rum was the gateway spirit for me.. its so sweet and the flavours so unchallenging (vanilla cinnamon etc) that its probably the best way to accustom yourself to the ethanol burn. Once your throat is used to it you'll be able to move onto more interesting whiskies and actually taste the flavour profiles.

  • Thanks guys, bought 4 bottles of bourbon/Canadian whiskey in separate transactions for a $40 saving.

  • Thanks OP. Stocked.

  • Thanks - $27.25 for a bottle of Jameson!

    • +1

How'd this work out? The base bottle starts at $42.99 for me, goes down to $32.99

Edit: Also $23 for a bottle of Canadian Club.. not bad, not bad.

      • My store has it for $37.25 at the moment :)

        • Bugga, thought that might be the case, thanks!

  • Just thought I should add, this works with Bourbons and Canadian Whiskeys as well.

  • +2

Sure beats cough syrup or cold and flu tablets.
    mmmm whiskey.

  • Thanks, i used the voucher with the delivery offer on a 1L bottle of jameson for $46.9 (+$7 delivery) https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_915769/jameson-iris…

  • Thanks. Grabbed a dewars and the label 5.
Wasn't much of a whiskey drinker before but this deal makes it a great time to start!

    • The guy at Dan's asked me if I placed two separate orders or if there was a system error. I explained there was a promo on whiskey ending today.
He told me lots of orders for single bottles came in today.

      This was at Hurstville.

      • I'll be at Hurtsville after I finish this bottle of Label-5

  • Code has stopped working..?

Edit: session seemed bugged, close and reopened and worked again.

  • how to get free delivery?

  • This is stupid, add 1x Jack Daniel's Old No.7 Tennessee Whiskey 700mL, $38.90, with code $28.90. Then change the quality to 2x bottles and total is $106.70, change the quantity to 3x and the total is $194.

add 1x Dimple 15 Year Old Scotch Whisky 700mL $54.90, after code $44.90. change the quantity to 2x and total is $154.85, make the quantity 12x and the total is $1,253.85.

    Who wants a bottle :)

    • +1

Just keep doing separate orders, apply the coupon to each order. I just got six bottles this way (I did click and collect).

  • Tempting, but after a quick look in the pantry, I still have a bottle of Jameson's and JW black label from previous DM deals that I've hardly touched.

  • +1

    Ordered cheap booze. Thanks OP

  • Great find! Remember to split up your order into one bottle per order, to get $10 off per item :)

  • Thanks very much, just got 3x Canadian Club and 3x Jack Daniel's. It's not like the stuff goes off.

  • +3

Category: Health and Beauty. Never change, wilko23.

  • Code must be price capped as it doesn't seem to work on this:
    https://m.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_776312/mattingly-moor…

  • Use those 5% off Woolies Gift Cards, if you have them ;-)

  • -4

$7 delivery negates the deal IMO

    • +4

"free delivery using DMWEL0614 and you get a fantastic bottle of scotch for $59.95!

To use both codes you will need to call up the online sales people to apply 2 codes at once… I just did it and they had no problems doing it."

      or just click and collect.

      Also thanks OP :)

      • their customer service is closed at 4pm = =

        • Do you know if the coupons are valid for tomorrow as well?

      • just called..closed :(

    • click and collect?

    • @step_andy There is a free delivery code… Just so you don't have to NOT read the description again its DMWEL0614… Plus you can click and collect, delivery is only necessary to take advantage of delivery only specials…. that negates your comment IMO

  • Thanks for the heads up! Dans website is a major pita though!!

  • +3

Monkey Shoulder people. At $37 it's a steal, top shelf blend!

  • why is there no Sydney CBD store >.> dont have a car to pick up all the way from Alexandra

btw you cannot combine this code with others right?

  • Did the website just die?

    edit: it's back

  • Definitely a cracking deal on some of the cheaper whisk(e)ys. Jack Daniels already discounted to $38.90, another ten off plus a few bob back from Qwibble, cost ~ $26 for a brilliant mixer.

  • +1

As a newbie to whisky, I recently tried Yamazaki which I liked but at $87 in this sale a bit too much.

I bought the below 4 for $137. Hopefully some good ones to get a good taste of easy whisky
    1. Canadian Club 12 yr
    2. Glenlivet 12 yr
    3. Ballentines 12yr
    4. Monkey shoulder

    • I did similar, except for the Canadian Club. Hopefully I don't waste them!

    • Vintage Cellars have 20% off any 2 bottles of single malt. Their outrageous price of $104 per bottle of The Yamazaki come down to $83

  • Just bought a bottle of Jack for under $30 click and collect

Great deal, great bargain - thanks OP

  • +1

Thank you! What a great deal, pity Lagavulin is back up to $97 and not $84.90. Would have been great to get 12 bottles @ $74.90 each. Picked up some Laphroaig quarter cask & I thought I'd try a bottle of Big Peat, despite the mixed reviews.

  • Thanks OP! Picked up a 2x JD.

  • click and collect works also for a big 8.8% cashback on this at http://www.cashrewards.com.au/dan-murphys

    • I thought this cashback didn't work if you apply promo codes??

      • Often it does still work, it just depends on the store and the offer, and how the stores systems are set up, always worth going through cashback site, nothing to lose and lots of times the cashback will still come through

  • It does not work out well on click & collect for the glenfarclas, the price jumps back because of the "delivery offer"…:(

So using the voucher, delivered: $67, click & collect: $80

    Stuppppid :D

    • you can use 2 coupon codes so you can get free delivery and the $10 off you just need to call customer service to get them to apply it…

  • Grabbed 4 x bottles of JD's at $28.90 a pop. Nice. Should be interesting when I go to collect them. :P Thanks OP!

  • +1

    I love you OP.

    I got Label-5 and Dewars.

  • Dan murphys is also price matching vintage cellars for 20% off 2 or more single malt scotch whisky. Works out better if getting the more expensive stuff. Tried it at Hursvtville without a problem

  • +1

Thanks OP from the bottom of my glass.

  • +1

WHISKEYLIVE14 also works for the $10 off. I found out by accidentally typing this instead of WHISKYLIVE14 lol!

    • -7

I just realized you can use both for $20 off.

      • +2

        How?

        • No it doesnt let you add the code twice or even if you try to complete one transaction and then again you start fresh to use the code again.

Hmm based on above comments i tried 2 different transaction and code worked only once.

        • Worked fine for me multiple times doing nothing special. I created lots of single orders.

  • thanks :) got the aussie whisky starward for under 70$ :)

  • So stupid… The Delivery Offer price gets cancelled out and overrided by the standard per bottle price when you select Click & Collect! And if you want to use the Delivery method it's $7.00 if you spend less than $300!!!

It does show the cheaper Delivery Offer all the way until the last point of checking out, to which it then shows the standard per bottle price.

    Am I doing something wrong?

  • trying to order a bottle of tss 12yr old. I got the $10 off but cant see how to apply to free delivery code as well ?? ideas ?

    cheers
