  • So, is this worth $20 more than a $49 RRP ChromeCast? The ChromeCast was briefly selling for $34.30 with free delivery (before Tricky Dicky pulled it off eBay).

  • OP are you able to post up some video reviews?

  • How do you provide access to the latest movies and TV programs legally ???

    • -1

All the content and movies are provided by third party service providers. The service providers are responsible for all content generated from their apps. For cloud based streaming platforms, links are provided to external servers where content is hosted. All content is the responsibility of the creator and all apps we provide are legal.

Your website says that your device gives you free access to the movies in the picture.

Can this be done legally ???

        Rio 2 ?
        Railway Man ?
        Tokarev ?

How can these be viewed for free legally on your device ?

        • +1

Its apps that stream content from websites that host uploaded content. Most of the new stuff i.e. movies is pirated though

        • Thanks for your questions. EchoTV doesn't host/create any media contents. For cloud based streaming platforms, such as Movie25 or LosMovies, links are provided to external servers where content is hosted, and are open for access with PC/Laptop. EchoTV just customizes such services to TV users.

Thanks for your questions. EchoTV doesn't host/create any media contents.

Then why do you advertise them on your website and claim to offer them for free ?

  • I can't find any reviews

This a backyard job or something that can push Apple TV roku etc?

  • +1

So is ESPN a free streaming service?

Wouldn't mind it for the sport

I really don't understand this product:

"Powered by Micky Hop technologies" so I searched Mickey Hop and found: MickyHop is a unique video app platform which allows developers to directly connect their apps from their own servers.

and "Time to replace XBMC with the built in Micky hop technology that provides more applications and tools for an enhanced viewer experience"

but it then says: "Developers can use XBMC technology to design new streaming apps to our new and growing app market place – stay tuned"

From all this i'm guessing it is a fork from XBMC, the apps are developed to allow "free" access to content, but as there is no subscription price, there doesn't seem to be any legal access to this content.

Happy for anyone else to advise differently.

It looks awfully similar to this one (http://avov.tv). Even some of the images on the website are the same.

      • aVoV is our brand in NA, the same product.

  • Sorry new in this area. So if I take this device, can I watch netflix or hulu forever? without the need to join etc.

    • +1

you can watch, till the police come calling

      • seriously, do I need to join netflix for example?

edit: found it so still need to pay to subscribe.

    • Not the case, these are standard Apps without any customization.

  • +1

Seriously not worth it. Any android box/stick compatible with xbmc android app would outperform the GUI and also have more content

  • +1

Something that is backed now but in 2-3 months won't be

  • For anyone wanting a cheap XBMC box I can't recommend the Amazon FireTV highly enough.

I've got an AppleTV2 with XBMC, a Raspberry Pi with XBMC (openelec version), and now a FireTV and the FireTV is just heads and shoulders above them. With the others you need to use lightweight skins and even then they lag, but on the FireTV you can use the fancy skins and they run no problem.

This EchoTV thing just looks like a cheap knock-off fork of XBMC.

  • nice BMW you got there ZHE LU

  • was going to buy one to try… but the price has suddenly gone up… what is the reason?

    • yeah why has it gone up? it was $69 just an hour ago

Sorry for the inconvenience caused. We changed the pre-order scheme to $89 plus a 16G USB2.0 Key.

      • +1

additional 20 bucks for a 16gb usb 2.0? no thanks. i'd very much prefer the straight discount.

btw has any of your 10 testers provided you with any reviews you can publish? without any concrete video or written reviews, its hard to justify the additional $20 price hike. whether this is better than the other android media boxes on the market, who knows.

        • Hello, reviews can be found at our website forums. Thanks.

        • Cool thanks i'll check it out

  • I have one of these boxes amongst others like Boxee Box and WDTV Live.

I also subscribe to Netflix and HULU PLUS and use this with GetFLIX.

Let me say that since this box has been connected, the Kids and Mrs are wont put the remote down.

The remote is better than WDTV and similar in responsiveness to Boxee Box.

Apps work well and support is good. I stopped torrenting years ago when I got Boxee and this is another easy way to access fresh content.

All of the content is streaming media from various sources on the net.
Some minor quirks, but with a responsive developer, why not give it a go.

They have also modified the box so you cant install any launchers to access the full android part of the box.

So just a warning to those that are thinking of purchasing this box to use it for Android

    • :)

        Hi EC,
No intention to debate, but surprised that as one of 10 free trial users why we've not ever heard any piece of inputs from you in the past month…

        • +1

Because I dont support companies that encourage distribution of pirated content

Movies and tv series cost money to make and are quite expensive

        • Do you still use the echotv?

        • +1

no .. thought they initially had a platform that streams legal content.

After i powered it up and saw that they support apps that stream illegal content, packed it up back in the box and stored it away.

  • @Echotele
If we pre-order one now when can we expect delivery (date)?

    Thx

    • We'll start shipment of Echo1 on July 1. Thanks.

I purchased an Echotele beta Box for $49 several weeks ago and am
VERY happy with the service and incredible array of programs available.

I run my box over an Adsl2+ connection and run the movies at standard
definition. I found running at full HD to be a bit shaky but I assume
that's due to my ADSL2+ speeds not due to the Echotele box.

Even set at standard definition the visual quality of movies and other
    programs is excellent.

I expect to be able to run full HDTV once the NBN is connected in our area.
    Welcome any advice on this.

New releases movies such as Godzilla etc are available. Endless sport,
News, Discovery channel, ESPN, Fox Sports, and thousands of other programs
    all commercial free.

    There's You Tube and Facebook.

It was easy to set up and upgrade software.

They have sent out another software update recently so that's a good sign in my view.

Tonight I have just bought a second box so we can run multiple programs in two rooms. Also because my partner loves watching Chinese language on the PPTV
    channel.

If this is the future of ad-free television - and they say more channels are being added - then I would be divesting shares in any commercial free to air television or pay TV operators.

Being able to watch, for example, 60 minutes, on the Nine channel and choosing only the stories that interest you, on demand, when you want them, and without any commercials is a wonderful new world. You can also watch stories you missed maybe several weeks ago, for example.

Also families should make sure they activate parental controls to ensure children cannot access adult channels.

For $50 the beta Box is an excellent deal. Thanks Echotele.

I am not associated with Echotele other than as a satisfied customer.

Very much sounds like you are stealing content (pirating).

If all/more/most do this, how will the content providers be able to provide more movies such as Godzilla, Endless sport, News, the Discovery channel, ESPN, Fox Sports, and thousands of other programs.
