"The Celeron-based NUC can play everything XBMC can including 1080p SBS 3D. It will struggle with full frame packed 3D" from XBMC Wiki.

  • Looking into getting this. I need some info please. It's my first time looking into a NUC so:

    I need the NUC…

    • Intel NUC i3 BOXD34010WYKH

I need to buy a SSD HDD as well

    • SanDisk Extreme II 120GB SSD

    Also needs RAM

    • Kingston 4GB Low Voltage RAM for NUC

I need to add the wireless card also

    = Total $477

the NUC (Intel NUC i3 BOXD34010WYKH ) woun't run without the others… it's just the case, processor and motherboard ???

    • And power supply brick is included too.

    • Yes you are correct.
The i3 and i5 units are just motherboard case and (I think) Wifi antenna but not card, so it adds up. You may need an adapter as the HDMI is mini sized. Of course you need to factor in the price of an OS too if you are using a paid one.

  • Works for me

  • yeah back up now. completed my order 1x Intel Celeron nuc and 2x 4GB ram

    • +2

Just FYI the Celeron NUC only has one DIMM slot.

  • Anything that beats umart's prices is a good deal in my book.

  • The only thing stopping me to buy this is confusion: 1. Do I need it? 2. If I do, i3 or i5?

  • +2

For those who'd rather pick up the Sandisk Ultra Plus 256GB SSD (and save $5), MSY will be selling them for $124 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/149671 in three days

    • Ya, but the e-parcel and shipping insurance (worth 15 as 'postage' iirc, for free) I prefer.

So, extra 5 bucks for shipping from here.

  • Is the Celeron Nuc out of stock? There's no option to add to cart!

    • Nice. Found the Celeron back in stock. FInally took the plunge. Can't wait to play around with this bad boy.

  • Yep. Out of stock. Please update deal header. Looks like there were some driver and usb controller issues with the N2820 chip and that it has been replaced. See http://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2014/04/24/intel-n2820…

  • How is the celeron at transcoding 720P mkv's? Would like to make it a dedicated torrent/usenet box that can stream 720p mkv via plex

  • Apologies in advance for a newbie question but…

Other than the i5 nuc what else do I need to buy to have a fully functional unit

    SSD
    Wireless module

    Anything else?

    • Some patience to wait for the Broadwell Nuc's coming out later this year.

      • +1

        RAM

        • Mini HDMI adapter and USB drive with windows 7/8 ready to install.

  • Pity,

I need a box to run xbmc to replace my ageing Apple TV. The celeron would've been perfect. Ah we'll wait till next time.

    Intel NUC N2820 Celeron - $149 <- this does NOT come with a built-in SSD (120GB) or 2.5" HDD (1TB), right?

    • Lol for a $149 NUC, you want a 120GB SSD or 1TB hard drive included as well ? I hope you know how much a 1TB hard drive costs :P

  • Hmmm, looks like the Celeron NUC is currently back in stock but now the i5 BOXD54250WYKH is out of stock. :-(

Rep, any chance of more stock of the i5?

    • +1

more stock of the i5 in now

  • Ordered one NUC celeron and an i5 NUC for bedroom xbmc machines.

Now the wait to set them up.

  • None are listed on eBay? Would be good to get 15% back

  • One thing to note for those buying the i5 version, you will need a mini-Hdmi to Hdmi cable or adapter

    • Yep noticed that on the weekend after I purchased the i5. I ordered a mini hdmi v1.4 cable on eBay, was only $5 or so. Still waiting for my NUC to be shipped, hope I get it this week!

  • Rep, are Fridays orders and the weekend orders going out today?

    • I got my order in before 1pm Friday, and got a notification today that there's a parcel for me in my parcel locker. Fingers crossed that it's my NUC :)

    • +1

      Hi dy4me,

Most of them are going out today & you may check your email for dispatch notification.

There are some Celeron and i5 models in pending as we've allowed backorders to go through during this weekend sale. We apologize for not updating the post during the weekend. These backorders will be dispatched by wednesday.

If anyone have issues, please PM me.

      Cheers
      SE
