Just ordered Destiny on Amazon and they emailed me a free beta key, then cancelled the order.
Estimated time: 45 seconds.

Great for anyone who is looking forward to Destiny and want to try the game out before buying and get disappointed like Watch Dogs. Beta key is multi platform and you can select your platform once Bungie releases the beta. Currently announced for PS4, PS3, XBOX One, XBOX 360. I wish it was on PC too :(

Also, there are several keys posted on Whirlpool which work in the code-redemption but I have no idea what they are used for.

      amazon doesn't charge til dispatch. if you cancel straight away, you shouldn't get charged.

        i see its a promotional thing if you pre-order.
        So my amazon account has not credit card info as its only been used to buy free ebooks from ozbargain and i dont want to link a credit card…..anyone kind enough to pm me a code plzzz with a cherry on top

      You go though the process as if you're actually buying it as Amazon don't charge you until the item ships.

      Redeem your code and cancel your order any time before September 9th, I would at least wait until after the beta to cancel though as they could have processes in place to lock your code out if you cancel before the beta.

      Well hey its free isn't it? I think alot of people(myself included) are excited for Destiny but don't want to be disappointed just like what happened to Watch Dogs. The way I see it, the more people that join the Beta, the better for Bungie as we are essentially testing out the game for them so there's no loss involved. Amazon's price is pretty decent too so there's nothing stopping us from ordering from them afterwards.

          Watch Dogs was chugging on that final mission, man what a nightmare driving around the city.

          I guess all that stuttering added more tension to it…

          It's not bad but it was meant to be a launch game… then was delayed half a year, during which time everyone including Ubisoft hyped the absolute hell out of it.

          ubi sucks for PC, better to get Ubi games on consoles only…i played it on ps3 and even there the mission ran fine, about 25fps without stutter

    Yay thanks. I preordered, email came instantly. Then I cancelled (there is a button called "Need to Cancel an Order?" on your invoice page. Just leave the invoice page up until you get your code in the inbox.

    I checked my "redeemed codes" page on Bungie.net, and the 17 codes at the end of the description are apparently "Destiny Collector's Cards" - whatever they are.

    I don't think there is any reason to feel dirty - most big game public betas tend to leak into the public through a number of streams anyway, I bet there will be other (legitimate) opportunities to get codes closer to the date without going through the pre-order.

    anyway i did the order/cancel thing just in case I'm wrong :)

    I just chatted to Amazon support, and they said it's fine to order and cancel after you receive the code. It isn't against their terms and conditions, and isn't a mistake.

    if you do it on us site you get the beta key but doesnt let you do it twice
