Slow and small and possibly fake.

About the standard price~ or cheaper on ebay with paypal protection.

    • +4

I paid via paypal on shopping square, plus my invoice has an ABN on it, so I don't think I'd need paypal in the event they were fakes anyway. I'm sure I'd be able to arrange a refund if the memory is fake.

It is worth noting that the eBay link shows a class 4 card, but the description says:
Speed performance rating: Class 2 (based on SD 2.00 Specification)

From overseas, my experience is the one thing you don't buy from China is memory cards, almost all are fake.
I have tested dozens for people and they all have issues.

      • +2

but everything is made in china, how do u not buy memory cards from china?

        • Japanese cards are the best

        • They are mostly made in China but Ebay sellers sell fake cards ie, 2gb cards sold as 8 or 16 GB etc. hacked to misreport size and fake stickers, also they tend to be unstable even if used at there true capacity.

        • China makes both fake and genuine products. With no strict rules, Chineese business makes replica of almost every electronics with sub standards quality and fake or underrated parts. If it is not from a reputable retailer, I will doubt its fake.

      • Im not promoting the eBay listing/ just noting the price is about right, personally I would spend the extra and get something reputable/ like a Samsung or a high-range Sandisk.

  • Should I get a class 4 or a class 10 one for my HTC One M8?

    • +2

Depends on where you store your photos and how quickly you actually want to take them. If its just for music class 4 should be fine. For video or photos I'd choose a class 10.

      • Thanks for the reply, what if I want to install apps on the card? Is class 10 significantly faster?

        • +2

If you want to install apps on an sd card, definitely get a class 10 or faster card.

I've got a class 10 card in my lumia 1320 and apps installed to the sd card open a litttle bit slower compared to internal memory, but im sure if I used a class 4 card, it would be significantly slower.

Same with taking photos and videos, you'd want a class 10 unless you enjoy laaaag.

        • Can you install apps on the Sd card still? i thought that wss stopped/removed when v4 of the OS first came out.
Class 4 works fine on for recording HD video so prob OK, hey it's only $7
I thought your phone has 32gig anyway doesn't it?

        • +3

Hang on a sec… Back in the olden days of mobiles (back when I had my galaxy S1)… It was shown that class 4 was significantly better than class 10 for app storage as the class 4's have quicker random access times which is what apps need. The class 10 cards are built for sequential access (streaming video quickly) at the expense of random access times… Or has the technology improved that much over the past few years?

        • From XDA Forum: "1 year ago, class 10 cards performed worse in random access (mostly used for apps and games), but apparently the newer class 10 cards perform just as well or even better than lower class cards." - A comment from september 2012. Hope that help clear your thought.

    • Just warning you that Androids kit Kat update has effectively made a lot of native write to external sdcard functionality quite crippled because of concerns with the non encrypted fat 32 file system. You will need to root the phone or perform app trickery to write to the card from the phone itself. Of course, loading it into an sd card reader and dumping using a pc is fine, and contents can be read back.

  • Sansa clip cant handle large cards it never finishes updating the library

    • Thanks for the heads up. I haven't actually got my Sansa clip yet, it's on the way ($35 eBay refurb). It seems the problem is related to the firmware so I'll flash mine with rockbox if there's a problem.

  • a bit of an off topic but here goes. If I don't have a microSDHC adapter, would putting the card on my phone to transfer video files work as good as buying an adapter?

    • +2

An adapter wouldn't be more than a couple of dollars but yes it should work just as well.
You should see the SD card right next to the internal storage.

  • just got my sd card in the mail, running test on it atm. will post results in about 45mins.

  • Completed test on mine, don't know why my read speed is so much higher than yours?

    Test finished without errors.
You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again.
    Writing speed: 4.66 MByte/s
    Reading speed: 21.4 MByte/s
    H2testw v1.4

  • I had ordered it and have received it yesterday. But it looks weird, does not have class 4 rating marked and instead has mark I next to SDHC logo. What sort of card is it? Is it fake? Have not used it to check the speed as will be asking for replacement.

    • mine looks exactly the same. Run H2testw on it if you want to know if it's real or fake.
