    are these reasonably accurate? (for around the home, non-machining work etc)

      Pretty sure they'll be OK for non-critical stuff. I very recently bought a couple of the cheapest stainless steel versions I could find that included a storage case & battery ($16.49 each - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/151106990751?ssPageName=STRK:MEWN…) and as long as I hit the reset button before measuring they seem to be very, very accurate.

      I didn't need extreme accuracy either but didn't go for the carbon/plastic version as I wanted something that could take a bit of a beating in the workshop plus I wanted the case to keep them protected when banging around in a drawer with other tools. I'm sure for general purposes these cheapies would be fine for your needs.

      One thing I noticed in my research is that you had to pay extra just to get one with a battery and then even more for one with a case. I just read the description here and it says nothing about a battery being included. I know it's only a 2c item but the sellers seem to enjoy charging an extra $2 just for the battery!

      REP, could you please confirm that these come with a battery included?

    6 inch , which is around 150mm, is this the usual length a general calliper measure to? i think it is very short…
