Cadbury 220g Blocks of Chocolate below Half Price at Coles $2.49

710

Coles are doing Cadbury 220g blocks for $2.49. Great price in my opinion. Rarely see them go below $3.00. Wasn't much crunchie blocks at my store though.

Only idiots pay $5.49 for them!

    • Coles or Woolies normally either have the blocks on special at opposite times or the M&M/Malteesers bags. I go for either one when they are on special. Eg I got the M&Ms for $2 from Woolies on Tuesday

I remember one year on Christmas Day, I was craving for chocolate so much that I had to get a block. And of course, the only places open during Christmas was the servos so I went there and it cost me $6 and it wasn't even the normal size. It was the size down >_<

      Pity me

      • Sometimes when you want it you gotta have it … at any price.

Chocolate and sports drinks for dinner from Coles.

    • I much prefer the Connoisseur cookies and cream dinners. Hopefully they are due for a sale soon

  • +12

I have a rule, 1c for gram is too much. This is still too much.

Screw em, they keep reducing the bar size, put it on sale for a bit, then back to the normal high price.

They increased the size earlier this year……..

$3 for 5 sheets of 24 tabs at 500 mg a tab. Still $3 for 30 grams of paracetamol or ten cents a gram. No deal.

    • That's a good rule. $1/100g is the correct price for chocolate. Very hard to stick by these days though.

    .
Sorry I can't bring myself to buy Cadbury Chocolate anymore since they changed to that ugly packaging
I find it a real turn off, I know it's only a wrapper but it looks so cheap and tacky

    • +6

Cadbury chocolate is cheap and tacky in flavour too. Whittaker's is the only one for me.

    • I haven't found anyone that does like the new packaging. Chocolates still as good as ever though :)

  • +2

It's the chocolate in Australia full stop. They add adatives to prevent it melting changing the flavour. Go UK lolly shop, buy some real galaxy or Cadbury and taste the difference.

    • +1

There's something about the taste of Cadbury milk chocolate that I don't like. Somehow they manage to hide much of the cocoa flavour that other 30% cocoa chocolates have.

For cheap chocolate I like KMart's 200g generic Belgium blocks for $2.50 (was $2 until quite recently). Consistent quality and the price remains stable for years. Otherwise I wait for specials on Lindt (so creamy and tasty) or Whittaker's.

      • Cadbury chocolate's quality turned from average to crap quality these past few years.

A lot of their cost cutting has reduced the taste and texture of the chocolate, perhaps they have increased the sugar content to make up for less cocoa fat or something. That's where most of chocolate's mouth-feel comes from, because cocoa butter gives it the cocoa aroma and velvety taste.

Cadbury however tastes quite sharp (too sweet) and it all but turns liquidy as soon as you chew into it.

    • Now you've made me want Galaxy Minstrels.

$2.49 half price!! 250gm block of Cadbury chocolate cost about $2.50 @ regular price 5 years ago!!
(If they keep putting the price up at this rate I'm eventually going to stop eating it)

    • +1

erm. what costs the same from 5 years ago?

      • +2

The ALDI 300g bars of chocolate at $2.99 do.

Wish my pay had doubled in the last 5 years!

    • +3

I believe they're also charging more because of the fairtrade certification.
Happy to pay more for ethical chocolate

      • +1

only 6 spider legs per block.

      • +3

Or the Halal certification. Cadburys is Halal didn't you know?

  • Repeat listing already mentioned here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/151060

    • Didn't see that one. Anyways looks like this is the only one that is getting people noticing it based on how much votes this one has compared to the one from a few days ago.

  • Cheaper at Shiploads.
    See my post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/151464

    ;)

    • Cheaper per a gram

    • BigW has similar deal, I think its $4 for the 405grams

    • That appears to be plain cardboard tasting chocolate, and only in Tasmania
AT least this one we can get Turkish delight or snack which is a bit nicer and is available in Australia

  • Not worth the price…This stuff is icky these days.

  • +2

The Cadbury chocolate is the worst ever chocolate you can buy. If you want to have good chocolate like Lindt at good price all year around, I suggest you to go to Aldi and try their German made chocolate for around $2…

  • I have notice how much things have gone up in just two years, now a block of Crapbury choc is over $5 and the V 4pack energy drink are $6.50 half price last week???>>>> wtf… it was half price at $4.50 last year. Crazy Woolies, Aldi choc are tasty and value for money.

  • Woolworths have Cadbury Sharepacks on special which make them have a slightly cheaper unit price.

  • Yep^^ Woolies have the multibags (Picnics, Twirls, TimeOut, Freddos etc) for just $2 at the moment.

  • +2

This is closer to what the regular price should be for Cadbury chocolate flavoured sugar.

  • Do they still make "Marble" flavour? Or "Black Forest"? Wasn't aware they were limited time only.

  • +1

Did you guys notice that when they changed the packaging recently for hazelnut, they have added hazelnut flavouring to the chocolate itself and reduced the hazelnuts considerably?

It still tastes just as good/bad as before, but now there aren't any hazelnuts to crunch into, just some flakes.

    • They've changed the chocolate/hazelnut ratio from 77/23 to 80/20

  • Is this the same size BigW was doing in a four pack?

For a while there (at least 4 weeks after Easter), BigW was doing a four pack of blocks for only $5. I bought heaps.

I could be wrong about the block sizes, but $2.50 for one block doesn't seem all that cheap?

  • Always on special with Cadbury and damn nice choccy…
Old Gold Jamacian Rum & Raisin.

  • Got some last time when they were $3.50 at Woolworths. This is even better woohoo!

  • Woolies has Cadburys 200g Toffie brittle, and Strawberry and cream for $2 ea. Looks like a new range by Cadburys.

Also Cadburys drinking Chocolate for $2

    • Yeah think they are exclusive to Woolies

      • Nope Coles has em too.

  • Also target are doing the bubbly block for $2 at half price

  • bought five in one go, they are in my freezer now. im good for a month or two, thanks OP!

    • No worries!

    • Freezing…chocolate…?

      Only in Australia, eh?

  • Enjoying my block of chocolate, thanks OP
