    with my tax return

    Can I has employment please?

    • I have employment but have no idea how people get tax return refunds like that!

      • +2

I always found myself underpaying tax when the tax return comes, never get a refunds at all.

      • +1

        First…
you have to pay way more tax than you should have.

        Negative gearing on investment property

        • +1

Haha, why the hell did you get negged. <SIGH>

Thanks for the info & post

        • +10

          @DJ:

No idea could be the fact that negative gearing is middle class welfare.
The liberals made allot of landlords and property investors very rich with NG and no other country in the world has anything as good for claiming on property.

        • @vid_ghost:
Actually NZ does also and doesn't charge stamp duty OR capital gains tax

        • +3

@vid_ghost: It isn't the negative gearing itself that is the problem, it is that you only pay half tax on capital gains. So if you go out an work for your money you pay full tax, but if you are rich enough to invest and get capital gains then you only have to pay half. I guess being rich deserves some government concessions, after all it must be a heavy burden to carry…..

        • @asseenontv: Except the capital gains tax discount was to encourage long term investing. You are still taxed at your marginal rate for any income you earn from your investments. It's not just the "rich" who benefit.

        • +3

vid_ghost, did you also claim negative gearing on your Hyundai i30 too? :P

        • +2

          @edfoo:

Someones spending too much time on whirlpool forums haha

        • +2

why the hell did you get negged.

          Attempt at negatively geared post?

        • thankyou for funding first generation of technology

        • @furythree:

Its second Gen UHD TV's :) First gen was last year with 30FPS HDMI 1.4

    • +1

      Can I has employment please?

Not until you fix you grammars.

      • +1

Fixes self Alright. May I have an equivalent employment position which allows me to obtain a tax return similar to yours, please?

  • +2

This is a really nice tv, too bad my house is too small to squeezed it in.

    • +14

you could replace a wall with it?

      • Haha, HIMYM style.

  • you must be claiming everything on tax… lol

    • +8

he is probably gonna claim the tv on tax too. LOL!

      • With the cost of it now compared to what it will be this time next year, that's some serious depreciation.

    • Some people claim bread on tax too!

  • +3

What a great price, ordered 10 right before I wake up!

  • And maybe another 5% off today: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/151445

  • +9

I must be wrong by opening ozluxury.com.au rather than ozbargain.com.au…

    • +1

How do you think I feel? I opened ozripoff.com.au

  • +3

Ordered 10 to sell to ebay.

    • +13

      Just bought 10 in ebay!

      • +1

quick! resell them with a $1 markup (after fee theft)

easiest $10 you will ever make

  • I would have thought you understood depreciation by now as well then!

  • +17

LOL Was jokingly floating the mouse over the 'checkout' button as my missus was looking over my shoulder… she almost got a hernia.

    • +2

Sounds about right. Most wives have more balls than their hubbies.

      • +4

Most rings on their fingers cost more than this TV, NOW that's what i call a waste of money!

        • Not a waste of money though, as diamonds and gold keep value.
Therefore after 10 yrs, that piece of gold or diamond will have only dropped maybe 10% or chances are with the shortage of resources it will go up in cost.

Where as after 10 yrs that TV of yours would be worth less than 10% of the cost. lol.

        • +12

@lplau: Have you ever tried to sell a diamond ring? They're intrinsically worthless, you'll be lucky to get much more than the old tv if you sold it

        • Although, insurance companies don't look at it the same way if it gets stolen.

        • +3

          @lplau:

But 10 years of UltraHD TV (probably less) vs 10 yrs of a diamond ring you can't do anything with…

        • @hellbound:

          What about a gold ring?

        • @lplau: watch "The Diamond Empire" ;-)

          http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=s4c1p_DMkIw

        • Ring=Physical experience, TV=Virtual experience ;)

        • +1

          @lplau:
that's provided that person you just bought the diamond ring for doesn't walk out on you and hocks it off at cashies. Divorce is all the craze now adays.

I'd rather take my chances with a bigTV. Good luck walking out the house with that!

        • +2

          @lplau: Gold yes. Diamonds no.
Look up the history of De Beers and the price fixing that went on within the diamond industry. Diamonds are intrinsically worthless.

        • @gokhanh: Ring = happy wife, 8k TV + no ring = miserable life.

Go out for dinner, take the family away, spoil your wife, don't spend 8k on a 80" tv that comes with a 1080p xbox.

  • +3

Webos wasn't that dead with HP?

  • What's Dual Streams?

    • Two TV or video signals played side by side or overlapped

      • +1

What practical use would it be? It has 2 tuners so not needed for two tv shows.
Would any one really watch Foxtel while someone else plays a video game?

I remember my tv back in the early 90s with pic in pic , apart from the cool factor it was never used.

Not picking of the tv, just wondering what someone would really use it for.

        • Its called Multi Stream Transport (MST) and its for 4K @60Hz, basically there's only enough bandwidth per stream for 1920x2160 at 60Hz, the current workaround is to send two streams and stitch them together.

I was hoping HDMI2 would give us 4K 60Hz over SST.

        • @CH:
          Thanks.

  • Will I get laid more if I buy this TV? Could be a bargain if so.

    • +12

nop…but you can watch brazzers on a 79" screen in HD!!!

    • +3

I'll sleep with you, that's more sex than I'm getting now and I won't have to spend 8.5k on a new TV. Could be a bargain all round.

      • huh? OzBumpUglies?

  • Wow, $849.66 only, that's cheap!

  • +2

Built in DVD palyer— What? For 10K TV?

  • +1

  • +3

Combine it with this deal OP:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/151447

  • Geez tech stuff is cheap now. I remember looking at jvc plasmas back when they first came out 42 inch $25000.
And years before that I bought a 80cm screen ( CRT) for almost $4k.

  • +6

I actually did get this deal today. OP forgot to mention you get a free Xbox One via redemption as well.

    • +4

      pics or it didn't happen

    • just added it to the info thanks

    • Also did you try and price match at bing lee to get the extra 10% off?

      • +1

There's no Bing Lee in Western Australia so I got it price matched at the local Harvey Norman.

  • +2

The price tag will cut in half by X'mas.

  • +4

Bought three of these for Radeon Eyefinity.

  • +3

Gotta laugh at the built in DVD player, not sure why they would bother. Could you imagine sending this whole thing back just for a DVD drive that doesn't read!

    • Could that be a Blu-Ray player?

  • +1

Vid ghost, once you're 100% sure you want this tv then let me know - I'll hook you up with it for 8k from my friends at Syd City JB ;) unless of course you can get the price match and 10% off at bing lee!

    • will do … thanks for the info :)

  • +1

Only 1 problem…. its an LG, there is a very likely chance it will die.

    • +2

There is a likely chance that everything will die… eventually.

    • +1

ALL those TV"s and Electronics that used to die were because of faulty capacitors that flooded the market back in 2000-2006.. they are all gone now and most electronics are pretty rock solid.

LG is as reliable as Samsung and Sony these days.

      • +1

        perhaps.
maybe I'm just unlucky, I decided to go on the cheap and purchase LG for the new house in the space of 3 years I'm on my 3rd LG side by side fridge with apparently the 10 year warranty linear compressor which both died in the first 6 months. On the 2nd washing machine cause the 1st one was a wall banger and the 2nd one is no better, on a second control board for the split system air conditioner and the TV, well the backlight keeps on failing on the different LG TVs and the whole unit gets replaced on numerous occasions.

the only thing I did well on the purchases was get the extended warranties

  • +4

Comes with Magic remote? I just want the Magic remote…. cause its MAGIC, I can use it then to get the TV!

    • No one would buy a SMART tv without a MAGIC remote.

  • I think you will go blind with a tv that large!

  • +1

Buy tv and you can chin-chin with Leo. He is already waiting with his glass.

  • +1

I think I need one of these monitors in my home office.

    • you need a 79" UHD TV for your office.. lol

      • +4

There are only two types of people who'd buy a 79" screen for their offices — a rich idiot, or a rich evil villain with a dormant volcanic island for an office building.

    • ATO will love that depreciation claim. Can someone say audit. :)

  • Is LG's passive 3D any better than it used to be? The last time I tried it a couple of years ago, one eye of the glasses would not totally filter out the vision from the other eye, leading to an annoying ghosted image.

    • Passive 3D was rated overall as the best available so it must be!

  • +1

Just got this at JB Hifi Elizabth St for $8139 free delivery
Tried to get 10% LG gift card from Bing Lee. No Joy.

    • That's BS not getting the LG gift card :(

    • Can you share your receipt? I would love to knock off a couple hundred from what I paid as I haven't gotten delivery of the TV yet.
