cFosSpeed - The Internet Accelerator

cFosSpeed increases your throughput and reduces your Ping.
Keep your internet fast during heavy upload/download
Improve your Ping for online games
Reduce audio/video streaming problems

I bought this software almost 9 years ago and it was one of my best purchase ever. The price has gone up during these years but it seems like it has gone back to the original price I paid 9 years ago because of the world cup fever. I can't really explain how it works but if you look up "traffic shaping", you will kind of get some idea. The reason why I purchased this software was because of this:

Basically if you are a person like me who does gaming while torrenting, you will need this little piece of software to help the data packet flow so that it doesn't lag your gaming. It prioritizes your internet downstream + upstream so that your connection can run concurrently without interfering with your primary usage. If you have this software installed on all the computers in your household, it is smart enough to talk to one another so that no one computer will hog the entire home broadband.

Apart from torrenting + gaming, it also helps your web browsing + torrenting. Just bear in mind, this software won't speed up your already slow broadband.

  • I'm using the version of this that came free with my Asrock motherboard. Seems to do the job, such as slowing down steam updates when I'm watching YouTube etc.

    So it's a caching proxy?

    • I think this is a per application traffic shaper, to prevent, say, Torrents consuming all of your bandwidth and making other applications (eg Browser) unresponsive.

  • How do you implement this against a router when there are multiple users on the router?

edit: just found - Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 allow you to use your Wi-Fi adapter as an ad hoc Wi-Fi access point. So other devices can connect to your PC (instead of directly to the Wi-Fi router) and therefore can benefit from cFosSpeed Traffic Shaping.

err.. no that won't work for me!

    • I believe you can install cFosSpeed Traffic Shaping on multiple machines to get the benefit across a network. Might take some configuration however

  • it's a great software which really worked for my desktop computer — I can maximasie my p2p when i surfed the website. but since mu nas took over p2p donwload, i did not need it any more.

People want to able to P2P soon anymore, thanks to our fascist Liberal overlords… The government is meant to serve the people in a republic, and not the other way round like it is at present.

  • Wouldn't Router based QoS achieve the same thing? What advantages does this software have?
