You can get these Genuine Panasonic from an australian seller with a good rep.

Thrunite are a respected seller and manufacturer of lights already. I have no doubt they will follow through on what they sell. The TN series like TN31 and TN35 are highly regarded lights, even if a little expensive for most.

The batteries are well known and tested Panasonic 3400 cells, not brilliant in high drain applications (most wont need that anyway so its irrelevant), but great for run times being 3400. Its only the protection circuits that vary on these since Panasonic offer no such circuit. Given its got Thrunites name on it, Im fairly confident it will be fine.

However shipping costs up front would be nice. I dont like having to fill in most details before I get to see if Im really interested based on delivery.

  • Who makes the protection chips Rep?
What is the overall length of these with protection circuitry added? Once protection circuits are added, some of the NCR18650Bs come in at 70mm and they wont fit a lot of 18650 lights. They are in fact, 18700 batteries.
Do they fit in all ThruNite lights without issues?

  • meh, too expensive, shipping not included, in USD. I got a pair of pana cells from DX and only pay less than $20 a while ago.

Good luck getting them now. I have Sony and LG 18650s somewhere between China and here (ordered end of May), and Im still waiting. The free or cheap Asian Post services are having fits regarding the Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 and refuse to carry Li ion batteries for now.

But these a re a tad on the expensive side. But not so much if they are local stock. If they are local as stated, the price is well below normal local stock.

      • There were issues getting Li-ion batteries shipped starting from a couple months before that flight. I had a package returned to FastTech that included a now-discontinued Nitecore I2 charger :(

      • I thrice tried to buy these batteries from ebay coming from HK or China and the first two times, they never got here. I presume customs destroyed them. The third time I got lucky and actually received them. This was a year or two ago btw.

I only paid a few bucks for them though. Don't know if I want to risk $26 + shipping on these and possibly not receive them.

P.S. Why is this so expensive, especially in spite of 30% off?

        • Hey lostn,

You won't risk anything buying from thrunite.
We handle orders from Australia with our Sydney warehouse, those batteries are in stock.
Some orders might be sent from China if the products needed are out of our local stock.

Try yourself and you will know what I tell you here are true. :)

  • specially designed for high-drain devices.

I hate these sort of comments. Please quantify. Will it do 10A? 20A? At what voltage drop?
    Will it suit power-tools?
3400mAh sounds too high for high-drain. Can both be true at once?

    • These are rewrapped Panasonic NCRB's as previously stated, the highest proper high drain 18650's are the Panasonic PF's at 2900mAh (obviously unprotected)

As for the "high drain" of these, it depends on the protection circuit, but it wouldn't be as good as the Blazar's above, which I've tested and are good for 10A continuous. My guess would be 5-7A continuous.

As above, pay a bit more and get Blazars, his name is Yaas and I've dealt with him personally, he will sell for $30/pair and you know for the extra $2.50 per battery you're getting a MUCH better protection circuit. PLUS Yaas will ship to you for free or you can pickup from his house if you live in Sydney, like I do.

      • Wanted to buy some 18650s too and noticed you mentioned this Yaas person?
I live in sydney and was wondering how I can contact him/her?

  • I bought some Panasonic unprotected and some Blazars from "Yaas" recently, I guess they're ok but I couldn't believe he posted them in an envelope with NO packing/protection/bubble wrap, included a free protection case and didn't even put them inside it! Seemed stupid to me considering all the talk of fire/damage fisk etc.

    • Yes it's actually prohibited to ship unpackaged batteries like that through the Australia Post postal network. They must be packaged securely. That kind of thing like those batteries being thrown into an envelope completely unprotected like that can start a fire if the battery points cause a spark.

      "Dry cell batteries must be:

removed from the appliance or device for which they were intended.

inserted separately, if sent in the same postal article as the appliance or device

      packa
ged securely to prevent movement, so that the points cannot come into contact with each
      other, preventing a short circuit."

      http://auspost.com.au/media/documents/dangerous-prohibited-g…

So basically that seller is in violation of Australia Post battery packaging rules. It would have been quite alright if the batteries were inserted into the battery protection case since that's proper protection.
