$0.00 FREE Trackr Device from TheTrackr.com

1252

Trackr are giving away $200,000 worth of Trackr Devices…not sure if its the Wallet or the Stickr but at $0.00 it doesn't really matter. There were about 60,000 people in front of me when I signed up and there are options to jump into different "boarding groups". e.g. default is group 4 and if you share to FB you go to group 3, or you can pay for shipping and go to another group etc.
Enjoy!

edit looks like its the Stickr ""You're all set to get a StickRTrackR and soon you won't need to worry about losing items.""

It seems to only accept US address?

    • +1

got it through on mine ok…

    • Yep. Can't seem to enter AU address?

    • -2

Works for me with a AU PO BOX

      • +4

Works with a PO Box address? Where did you enter the fact that your PO Box is in Australia?

        • -1

          Sorry i was incorrect

        • +3

          @Linkiepoo:
Could always try what I said below: Enter your Suburb in 2nd line of Address and Australia as the City. Worth a shot!

Is it worth paying $20 for 2 devices and shipping I wonder…

    • +1

From memory mine took about 7-10 business days to get here (when I bought one a few weeks back) - they use standard USPS from memory.

      • If you've got one, what can you tell us about it's workings here? Does the company support Australian locations with pings from our devices?

    • +10

I seriously doubt if it is worth to spend even a penny on these at the moment. As per the website the tracking is based on crowd based GPS i.e. if your item is lost and you initiate tracking, all the users' mobiles who subscribed to this service starts tracking your device as well. If any of those users are in close proximity to the item then you will get the position of the item.

To summarize this service only work when it becomes so popular and everybody starts using it. That is why they are giving away these trackers for free.

I wouldn't mind getting one for free but won't depend on it completely at least for now.

      • +1

That was my train of thought… Crowd based… How many people here have one to bounce the signal off of!
But for free, I'll grab one and give it a go!

      • I was under the impression you could still use your phone to detect basic distance to the item (if it was within bluetooth range)

        • Correct, and you can use the device to ping your phone as well

  • Signed up, but as it says "Zip code" and they're based in America I somehow doubt Aussies will get any, but you never know.

/edit Oh, and the fact it doesn't actually ask for country anywhere.

    • +3

They definitely ship here so fingers crossed!
Also if you pay they use Amazon Checkout and there is no issue selecting an AU delivery address.

      • +1

They may ship here if you pay but since the form for the free ones doesn't ask for country it appears the free ones are for US only.

        • +1

True. I've emailed them for confirmation. Will post when I get a response.

    • Yeah I just realised I didn't put the country details in :/ doesn't seem like there's anyway to go back in to change shipping details?

  • Signed up to see what happens, will post if I get one.

  • You're all set to get a StickRTrackR and soon you won't need to worry about losing items. There's some people ahead of you and we can only ship so many per day.

Cheers, sounds like a brilliant idea. I've seen these kind of things before but they are normally a bit bulkier and cost prohibitive for such a small task.

  • +2

The only slim possibilty you'd have of getting it sent over here is to maybe enter your suburb in Address line 2 and enter Australia as your City!!!

  • +2

Interesting idea but I just don't lose things often enough to go to the trouble. Don't worry about losing things either.

Stalkers are probably gonna love it though :p

  • +1

OP you should have posted your referral code to move up a boarding group

    • +3

Sharing on Facebook jumped me up a whole 2 places… from 67174 to 67172!!!

    • +2

I sent it around the office to the unsuspecting - got me to 12000 ish

Now I can track my Mrs

    • +2

Your Mrs, I would think that you're more worried about your Veyron!!!

    • +1

Where will you stick it on her?

  • I just checked Amazon and its temporarily out of stock also mentions that this item does not ship to Sandringham, Australia.. I don't hold much hope given previous posts as well.

  • Seems exactly the same as "tile" http://www.thetileapp.com/

Its best to join the one with the most users in case you need the "crowd" to help find you items

Being a geocacher I am familiar with trying to use a iphone as a GPS. Its pretty useless as it does not have a built in GPS. Inaccuracies when someone comes in range of your item and again then when you go to reported location will pretty much be like finding a needle in a haystack.
OK for big things like a push bike but close to useless for car keys.

    • I assume this is where the ring / beep function comes into play, to narrow down your search?

      • Maybe. Not sure how long that will last or how loud it will be. They say you dont ever need to change batteries or batteries so it wont be very loud when you are 20m away

        • +1

          Not exactly.. It says

          No Recharging
Don't worry about batteries. TrackR lasts for over 1 year on an easy to replace coin cell battery.

Either way, I'm passing on this deal.

Now I can trackr ozbargain deals.

  • I am sure Batman have already thought up of a device like this but only he can access it.

    • Also, if you scroll to the bottom it says they've already shipped 154000, does that means the 200000 is going to run out before we get one?

      • +1

$200,000 worth… So I guess it depends on how much it costs to produce one!

  • +1

If anyone wants to actually buy anything, use the code SB10.

  • +1

You can jump 1 group without sharing on Facebook.

Log yourself out of facebook before you click on the Facebook share button. It'll register the click only and bring you to the fb log in page.

    • +2

why not just share on facebook then go into facebook and delete the share, so not to annoy ur friends and family…. does this trick work?

    • you can enter fake email address all with po boxes and use the share option to jump up 2 spots I did this so I was up to 16XXX but I used a fake email add so it wont get anything

  • 68009 people ahead of me. It worked when I entered Australia in the City section.

  • +9

61 upvote and i doubt any one will ever get one, they already shipped out 150000+ and each device was suppose to worth $20 if you want to buy it. The only way they can still be sending more is that each stickr production cost is less than $1.

Even if they are still sending out more, there are a good 67000+ people in the queue.

Funny thing is every time i go back there are more and more people ahead of me. And then there is a chance that they wont even ship it to Australia or it wouldn't even work here.

Not even sure how this qualify as a bargain much less a freebie.

    • Share to yourself 3 times and you will be 14000 in the queue.

  • Doubt anyone will get one

More like a marketing stunt, so people would buy their products or can get your contact details..

    Waste of time

    • I agree. Good email harvesting strategy.

    • +2

I already received my first spam poke email yesterday.
'Tired of waiting…da da da…buy at a cheaper rate..da da… buy buy…we only want to sell because you want to buy..bla bla bla…'

  • Yay!!!

    Oh… ;(

    • +2

We know where your tracker is shipping to!

      • 42 Wallaby Way. Sydney?

  • This just email, address, name harvesting scam.

Also they increase their facebook likes, and got us to advertise for them on twitter..

    Just a stupid marketing trick…

-People should tell this company to remove their contact details
    -unlike them on facebook
    -unfollow them on twitter
    -unsubscribe from their mailing list
-and remove the twitter advertisement that was posted..

  • this is sound like scam, they are fishing for the e-mail addresses and then offer you to spend money to move up in the queue.

  • +2

I chose the buy one get one free option for $24.95 incl shipping. For me the money I save on OzBargain, lets me take a bit of risk to try cool technology. This seems worth it for me and sounds like is something I want to try.

It used Amazon checkout so seemed pretty legit and gives you someone to complain to if it doesnt go through.

Plus allowed you to enter in a proper AU address.

BTW also tried for a free one under another email, so win win if I do get it.

    Thanks OP for the post.

    Cheers!

    • Now you just need to wait until all the other OzBargainers get one for it to work properly.

    • \queue song Akon: Lonely

  • quick update, just got an email saying they have almost reached the $200,000 free giveaway mark, so did anyone here actually get the free item or was it just an email harvest?

    • Not got mine yet!

    • What is… The product? The service? The deal? Or the fact that every person in here knew that they'd never get it as you couldn't even choose another country to post it to?
