Kmart has an "everyday price" policy. Sorry but how is this a "bargain"?

What is it about the concept of a "price drop" that you are unfamiliar with in this context???

      • -4

Permanent price drop doesn't constitute a "bargain". They are just normal prices.

so if toyota started selling BRAND NEW cars for $1 - it wont be a bargain!

Lol, I used this exact same analogy but with a Lambo.

in any sense i believe a towel that sells for $4 is a bargain!

Agreed. I was in a Kmart store over the weekend & I was staggered by the number of cheap, decent looking items they have added to their range of late.

Yeah, you're gonna get all the two-bob toffs here bleating on about "you pay for what you get" (deliberately misquoted as is oft the case on OzB); but IME, more often than not these sub-$10 items are of near-identical manufacture & certainly equivalent quality to those retailing at 2-3-4x more at other stores.

      • in any sense i believe a towel that sells for $4 is a bargain!

I've bought the cheap towels in Kmart in the past, and while that buying price IS cheap, it's not really very good value, OP. If you had no other towel, you'd no doubt be thankful for it, but they go REALLY thin REALLY fast.

If you want towels that are fluffy and thick, keep an eye out for a Sheridan sale. They seem to be having them every second week lately, and you can get decent towels for around $10 that will easily last you through half a dozen of these.

      Hold it there.
What is it in the word "bargain" that mandates that it must be after a discount??

A bargain to me is just 'a good deal'.

Kmart pricing is viewed as a bargain in our city. We don't have a Kmart, only a Big W. I know of plenty of people who go and drive a substantial distance to nearest Kmart to get the basics because most are good and cheap and generally better than the crap the Big W sells.

I thought generally kmart was the bottom of the barrel with big w and then target higher up the chain.. is big w generally crappier than kmart ?

      • +1

i find for simple things, kmart is generally cheaper than big w and the goods are pretty decent. I bought a stick blender from kmart once for about $20 and its amazingly good.

        think in terms of cheapness
        kmart
        bigw
        target

but if I need to buy pricier stuff, I generally to better retailers (ie bing lee or something), and if i want cheap stuff i only head to kmart.

      • Kmart is basically a giant version of The Reject Shop these days. Quality wise around the same.
