could get it even cheaper as I'm going o/seas soon… but looks like hardly anything has changed from my 2011 13" MBA.

Were they planning on putting retina screens in these things?

    • There are only rumours out there….same as how there were rumours that the current MBA was going to have retina.

    • Retina screen? Not until next year. I think Apple just refreshed the MBA recently only a subtle hardware change for a price cut compared to 2013 version.

  • Does this code only apply to this product?
EDIT Never mind…saw the other deal

  • still works

No specs on DSE web site. Is this a grunty box with 128GB RAM, or a pissy box with a 128GB SSD? I need something beefier than my current 16GB RAM.

The price certainly doesn't reflect the cost of 128GB RAM mate. Also no laptops come with 128GB RAM… can I have some of what you're smoking :D

Well, it does say "New Generation" in the title, so I thought Apple may have jumped to the head of the pack and released something special. But, you are right, even if Apple did have a product like that, DSE wouldn't be selling it.

Even 16GB RAM is overkill for everyday computing these day

That depends what you do every day. Ever tried compositing a few layers of 8k video, or play back uncompressed raw footage from a high end camera? How about running a couple of virtual machines for building OS releases / firmware images for consumer electronics devices? Let me assure you that I regularly use up 16GB of RAM and 10GB+ of swap and that's when I'm being careful about not doing too many things at once.

I don't think what you described counts as "everyday computing" in the usual sense :p

  • This code works for me for a 11" MacBook Air as well so it is not restricted to just the 13" one detailed in the instructions.

  • This isn't the latest MacBook Air is it?

  • It would've been for the latest 2014 model. and the code doesn't work anymore.

    • So this IS the latest macbook air?

  • Great price
Only if i didnt jump on eBay-Kogan MBA…
Only two more weeks to wait…

    • Are you still waiting on your Kogan MBA?
I got mine already, i ordered the 11" fyi.

  • Code seems expired. I get a "promotional code is not valid" error.

  • Seems to be expired
