    DCF825N $50 (Normally

    Normally what ???

  • +1

    Newb question here…

This is a 14.4v product you mention about the recent bunnings dewalt deal, yet it is 18v. The batteries on this wouldn't be interchangeable with this product if that's what your alluding to?

    • Thanks and corrected.

  • Is the battery included?

    • +2

      Description says skin only.

      Skin only means no battery.

  • +4

Battery is $150 lol, then you need a charger.

  • +1

Did a bit of research, you can save yourself some money buying one of the hammer drill packages and this separately if you need/want to have both tools instead of buying the pack with the hammer drill and the impact driver. Would save about $100 in that case

  • +2

Found out the charger will cost $135, battery cost $75

    • Ye, this is really only good value if you need a replacement or already have the rights batteries and charger.

      • how about hacking a different battery to fit?
Might be worth it if you have 14.4V (4-cell) tools, but everything seems to be 18V (5-cell) now. I suppose that is why they are clearing it.

        • Unless it was a DeWalt battery with the same shape/channel/connections, would be hard to hack a different battery. But of course, you could chance it on quality with some generic ebay batteries to fit DeWalt tools (at your risk).

        • @PCAviator:

Unless it was a DeWalt battery with the same shape/channel/connections,

No, I mean using a soldering iron, wire, epoxy and duct tape. Could be worth it if you have spare 4-cell batteries already,.

        • Fair enough, but still a lot of fluffing around and then you probably need to duct tape the battery to the tool. Not terribly practical. I'd take a Chinese ebay Dewalt clone battery over that myself :P

        • @PCAviator: would a 18v battery make this impact work safely ? what would happen if you plug in an 18v instead of a 14.4v battery?

  • was at masters the other day and checked out the DeWalt tools, All 14.4v not one to go with the Bunnings 18v hammer drill, 2 x 4.0mh batteries + charger + case, now that was a bargain.
Wonder if the 18v battery would fit as docking part looks similar and if so how long the driver would last

    • They are both slide type, but they aren't interchangable.

I've seen people on the internets do some light surgery and get one to fit, and it blew out the caps in about three seconds flat.

In summary: do it, and video it :)

      • I have a 18v battery, it just need a small cut, then it fits perfectly into this 14.4v driver

The brand is owned by B&D, but different quality.
      All made in China though.

Utter bollocks, DeWalt gear is made all over the world including Europe and they have increased their US manufacturing presence substantially recently as well.

Most DeWalt power tools are now assembled in Mexico, China, or Taiwan from components manufactured in Mexico, China, Taiwan, the Czech Republic, Brazil, Korea, Japan, Thailand, or the USA. Before 1984, DeWalt power tools were manufactured in Canada, the USA, and the UK. In 1984, DeWalt's parent company acquired the woodworking and power tool assets of the German manufacturer ELU. After that acquisition, DeWalt routers and a few of their other power tools were manufactured at former ELU factories in Germany, Italy and Switzerland. Starting in roughly 2000, DeWalt gradually moved most of their power tool assembly plants to Mexico, China, and Taiwan. In April 2011, Stanley Black & Decker (DeWalt's current parent company) launched a line of hand tools under the DeWalt brand. Most of these hand tools are manufactured in China, Mexico, Taiwan or Thailand. A few hand tools (such as their retractable knife, tape measures and screwdrivers) are assembled in the USA from globally-sourced parts. As of January 2013, a few DeWalt power tools are still manufactured in Europe. The DWS520 track saw and certain compact SDS rotary hammers (e.g., D25313) are manufactured in the Czech Republic. The 3 HP DW625 plunge router is still manufactured in Italy

[] 4. How many products are being built in the USA?
The new line of products built in the USA with global materials includes 32 different hand tools, 48 power tools, and 562 types of accessories.
[] 5. Which products are being built in the USA?
DEWALT will build more than 600 different hand tools, cordless power tools and accessories in the USA, using global materials. This is an unusual approach, but the emphasis seems to be on creating jobs to aid the U.S. economy more than aiding part manufacturers.

The new lines sporting the “Built in the USA” sticker include 32 hand tools, 48 power tools and 562 accessories. DeWALT promises on its website that there will be no price increase on the items bearing the logo.

    • Hay guyz, did you know that Lamborghini is a fancy name for a VW?! LOL!

Wait, no. Claiming that conglomerate ownership means all subsidiaries produce the same product is retarded. But thanks for playing.

not great tools but they are greatly overpriced. look elsewhere unless you've committed yourself heavily to 14.4V dewalt system already.

    • The Dewalt 18v/20v stuff is rock solid, especially the new brushless models, and one of the biggest selling cordless lines in the world. I can't imagine the 14.4v is that much worse.

  • Masters also have this Hitachi (https://m.masters.com.au/mob/product/900034845/hitachi-12v-p…) for $99. Two batteries and a charger included. I'm a big fan of hitachi tools.

Depending on your needs and if you're not invested in Dewalt batteries already, this could be better buying. The Hitachi isn't as powerful but I have modest needs so it'd do just fine.

    • Unavailable anywhere. Does not even show on the main website.

      • Yep, looks like they're all gone. Ozbargained. They were definitely available in store (Tingalpa, Qld) and for online purchase when I posted. I bought one. Them's the breaks.

  • I got 2 yesterday (Upper Coomera) because of 20% off specials. Came down to $40 each.

    • I got one during the sale too. The impact is awesome. So light with a 1.5 amp battery. Really like the 3 LEDs and the fact that its three speed.
