now i can save money on my monthly $20 haircuts like a true ozbargainer

    Professional Hair Grooming Kit

As Gerry Harvey would say, "this kit is for the professional in you, ozbargainer"

    • +6

I've been cutting hair myself for sometime.
So I am a real Ozbargainer?

      • +16

if you've been cutting hair yourself for some time then that makes you a hairdresser

  • +2

Good price. Paid $19.95 for this at shavershop. Although i oil it, it has started to rust. Buyers beware.

    • There are oil free ones for maybe a little more. 3+ years of head shaving and going strong without oiling.

      • …* Although i oil it, it has started to rust….*

Maybe do your haircuts after your shower

Really bad clippers, I bought a pair a few months back and it takes twice as long to get a nice even cut while shaving my head. Have to go over the same spot many times. As varunsic states above, need oiled nearly every shave. Have already disposed of mine.

Going for $17 on ebay (postage extra $5)

      Why the neg?
Its fine to say the quality is mediocre but the deal is still legitimate.

      • +17

I would suggest the quality is worse than mediocre!

Sorry if I'm wrong but the neg is due to them selling on ebay for $17. Is that a legitimate neg?
Mostly I just don't want other people to waste their time with these like I did.

Happy to retract neg vote if this is outside the guidelines.

It's a bit harsh as you have to realise people are donating their time to help others by posting deals, but I am ok with it.

          @luke73:

If he wouldn't someone else would have posted how bad they are.

My family (3 brothers) used to have a Wahl set and they were horrible. It wasn't cheap either, about $75 at the time and they look identical to the one pictured in this listing (but could have been a different model).

They got uncomfortably hot after a few minutes, needed constant oiling and cleaning and if you have thick hair (as I do) then it really struggles under the load and needs to be gently pulled else it would just seize up, pulling at my hair as it seizes.

That was a few years ago and I bought myself a $10 Sunbeam one that doesn't have any of those problems, but isn't great either. The attachments felt like they could fall off leaving me with a 0mm trim line at any moment.

I've since found a barber that does $10 cuts and I've just resigned to having my hair cut once a month as cleaning up after a self trim was getting old, fast.

I've got a made in the USA Wahl trimming set that I bought from the shaver shop for about $100 a few years back. Looks something like the one here - very solid build quality and no problems at all with the cutting.

But my family have fine hair though.

        • +1

@irate: I must've bought the same one.. have had it for at least 10 years without any problems.

I think the more expensive models are made in the USA to a higher standard.

        • +3

@simulacrum: Yes the USA made ones have better motors and are of better quality and are much more expensive but they should also have a different model number :)

        Negative Vote

        Purpose:

To let others know about issues with the deal, merchant or product.

Fair enough. Neg justified. Apologies ninjutsu.

    • +2

Sometimes it's better in the long run to pay a couple of extra dollars and get a much better product.

  • +10

IMO when buying Wahl looks for the models that are made in the USA. The cheaper ones made in china are usually pretty cheap and nasty. You get what you pay for with Wahl clippers as i have tried a few and there is a huge difference in quality

  • +1

These clippers are terrible, don't be taken in by the cheap price.

    • +7

But, but… It says "Professional" it must be good!

      • +2

That's why Windows XP Pro is the best. It's professional.

  • Good deal but i am not buying.

  • +1

good deal but terrible quality!! these clippers were bad to the point of painful!

  • +1

I have some Wahl clippers I bought at the start of the year. Slightly different, but cheapo China made ones that were about $20 from ShaverShop. They obviously aren't top quality, but they seem fine to me for what they are

  • -2

No thanks. I only go to the best barbers in town.

    • +21

Your profile picture confirms this claim.

      • I'm sure its a joke…

  • +2

We have a Wahl cordless unit. It's a good one. Costs over $100. Best to spend more for a better quality Wahl.

    • Is that the lithium powered model?

  • +1

I have one, paid about $20 at Harvey Norman a year ago.

Has jammed a few times, but that's what the bottle of oil is for.

Still going strong- highly recommend it.

  • +1

Not sure why people are saying they're "terrible". I've got the exact model and it's fine. Never had a problem. I usually use it once a month for a haircut and oil it before use.

  • DO NOT BUY, I have bought this crap. it only work for 3-4 first times ! i had to through it out ! peice of garbage

    • Can you make a refund instead?

  • Had this Wahl Model for nearly 2 years works perfect everytime ..

  • Is this model made in the US?

Mine looks similar to this and is made in the US.

    Best clippers ever.

    • No its CHINA

  • I've been using the Remington corded, no-oil clipper that I bought for $25 for 7 years now. Still using it with no problems and never oiled it. Just my experience.

  • I have one of these that I cut my hair with for 7 years. The taper attachment is a great attachment that most clippers don't come with, even the ones around $100.

Then the missus bought me a Braun set. Thats when i realised how painful these were to cut with in comparison. No wonder my sons hated me cutting their hair with it, but were fine with the Braun.

  • I think if the clippers are no good, then it's not value for money, and I think a neg is fine. I would like to be warned before I waste money. I've just wasted $15 on Remington HC2000 model. Extremely poor quality. Had a $50 Remington which were good but the plastic attachment wore out on the clip on shaver guides, good cut tho.

  • it seems professional is not prefessional in the true sense that they sell them to professional hairdressers as i read somewhere else. would be good to know how much the real prof ones cost

  • price is about average

  • Wahl is a well known brand for hair clippers - mine are great, still going strong, dont know what you guys are talking about.

  • i bought these from HN when they were $18.

quite happy with them. quiet, though a little heavy.

  • -1

crap clippers and not worth even $17
