      $179 CPU: AMD A10-7700K 3.8G
      $121 MB: AsRock F2MA88X-Killer
      $88 RAM: 8GB Crucial 1600MHz (IJK Enfield)
      $63 HDD: 1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM
      $229 Graphics: Gigabyte R9 270X OC 2G
      $18 ODD: LiteON 24X
      $54 Case: Coolermaster K380 Gamer USB3.0
      $79 PSU: SilverStone ST60F-ESB 600W (IJK Enfield)
WTY: Manufacturer Parts Warranty + 1 Year Return to Base Labor Warranty

Total: $831 + labour/warranty ($70 from MSY). Prices are from MSY as always except where stated. The motherboard should be the 88X+ Killer, not 88X-Killer :P

The savings are there I guess, it really depends how much grunt you need. An i5 4460 is $201, and a H97 motherboard costs any where from $101 to $145. Not sure what the Intel equivalent of this AMD one would be. Kudos for the legit PSU, but I agree that maybe an i5 deal would've made more sense to pair with the graphics card. :P Or maybe even an FX-8320 (same price as the 7700K) and an AM3+ motherboard makes more sense.

I think people who know what they're doing (getting in bed with an APU + GPU system) wouldn't lean towards buying a pre-built anyway, so there's extra value that CPL could've offered here with a more appropriate parts choice. ;)

    AMD fail

  • APU + GPU is pretty silly, price isn't too bad though.

    CPU: AMD A10-7700K 3.8G - $178
MB: AsRock F2MA88X-Killer - Couldn't find this anywhere (googling it results in this page)
    RAM: 8GB Crucial 1600MHz - $88
    HDD: 1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM - $61
    Graphics: Gigabyte R9 270X OC 2G - $219
    ODD: LiteON 24X - $20
    Case: Coolermaster K380 Gamer USB3.0 - $54
    PSU: SilverStone ST60F-ESB 600W - $78
labor costs: $50-100 (Not sure how much CPL charges)

    Total without mobo:$748 - $798

Money wise, it's a good deal. The AMD CPU is a bit of a let down.
Chuck and i5 and an SSD in there and it would good for a year or two.

Edit: The mobo gives me a link to some euro website. It lists the price as 82 euros, or $118 Australian dollars.

Total cost: $916 (with $100 labor cost)

CPL lists their regular price as $911

  • Man that is an ugly case.

  • can the apu xfire with the gpu?

  • I wonder if AMD will be able to capitalise on the fact that all the latest consoles use their hardware. It should mean games are better optimised for their processors and gpu? I don't know, its not like you need the latest and greatest to game these days, still probably wouldn't buy AMD.

  • Is the AMD A10-7700K 3.8G any good? What is it's Intel equivalent?

I'm not that familiar with desktops as I usually stick with gaming laptops and in a laptop the AMD processors are garbage.
