90 Day Google Play Music All Access Trial for Chromecast Owners (and New to All Access)

970

Found this article on Ausdroid.net: http://ausdroid.net/2014/08/13/buy-chromecast-google-play-ge…

Mentions that Chromecast owners who have not previously used ALL ACCESS are able to have 90 Days as a free trial

"To redeem the offer, there’s two ways to go. Point your browser at chromecast.com/offers/ and select your Chromecast and then redeem the offer, or you can also go into your Chromecast app on your tablet/phone and select your Chromecast and then tap the settings menu and then Check for offers. From both you should get a browser with these two Chromecast bonus offers (provided you haven’t redeemed Presto as yet)."

Worth $35.97 although you need to purchase a Chromecast or have one which will set you back a bit unless you take advantage of Dick Smith's deals.

Let me know if this should be moved to forums as it does require ownership of a Chromecast. (Used the previous bonus $6 credit as a reference in deciding to post this as a deal)

MUST BE REDEEMED BY SEP 30

Shame I can't get my current subscription free for 3 months. Good deal though.

Is this for downloading music? thx

    • +1

Streaming music but you can 'pin' songs for offline play.

      • Sort of like Spotify?

    • I was wondering the same. The title dropped the important word, and description doesn't cover it either.

  • Thx. Now I can try out presto.

    • +1

just did, not as good as netflix…

  • Pity I must have used a trial of all access when it first came out, it won't apply for me. Still a good offer for those that can get it.

You can make up a new gmail account to get a free 3 months.

So am I correct in thinking this allows you download any paid app on Google Play but after the trial ends you have to pay for the software or stop using it? Or is it all-you-can-eat for 90 days and you keep whatever is installed during that time?

      Music only

Here's a link that explains what All Access is. As Woodyg said, it's for Play Music.

Presto wants my credit card details to start a subscription after the free month. Even if it's easy enough to close the account before then, I'm just not interested in giving them all my information.

    • Hulu plus and netflix also require CC details before trial FYI

Doesnt show up as far as i new this was only for the US the offer was released a few weeks ago.

  • I got Presto offer too, on Chromecast bought on one of the Dick Smith deals on here.

  • I got Presto offer too, on Chromecast bought on one of the Dick Smith deals on here.

  • Same here, I got Presto (1 month) and Google Play Music All Access (3 months), and I bought the Chromecast from Dick Smith, though not as cheap as now. It was $49.

  • I got a chromecast the other day, whats the best app to use it to stream video from your server?

Plex, really great. Automatically adds art too which is really cool.

      • I also recommend Plex. Manages your media libraries really well, sorting episodes by show and season. As well as adding correct titles, descriptions and other details. Easy and very reliable through my Chromecast and Nexus.

I use Videostream; I can stream 2.5gb MKV's no issue*

*Differs based upon on your Wifi Network and Router Specifications, streaming computer performance, distance between devices such as the chromecast, router, and computer, other users on the network, size and type of the file, and acts of God.

      • I've used both Videostream and PLEX, using the same setup, videostream had some stutters here and there whereas PLEX didn't. So i'd recommend PLEX over Videostream.

Also, PLEX can stream to your portable devices as well, whereas Videostream does not.

        • For more casual streaming I like VideoStream, I didn't like having to run Plex agent in the background.

      • 2.5GB… but what video duration? Bitrate is the key.

        • 40minute episode length

    • Plex is awesome. Free for the computer, paid app for your smartphone. Well worth looking in to. You can set up folders for Tv shows, movies, documentaries etc and Plex will scan them for you and display in an itunes like interface. Because of Chromecast and Plex, my apple tv is now just an expensive drink coaster.

      • Allcast is okay too, but has crap ui. It allows you to cast from your phone to Apple tv and chromecast. So you could download a torrent on your phone and cast it to either device.

I've tried and used the lot of them and Plex seems to come out on top each time.

    • Also videostream has a handy app that lets you pause/play like a remote!

Everyone is pushing Plex, neglecting that it's both paid-for on your Android device, and non-standard.

Main question is what does your existing server already push out? Chances are it's DLNA/UPnP - so something BubbleUPnP will have the maximum flexibility to play on the device, on the chromecast, via your blu-ray player or TV, etc.

Sure, it probably won't be as pretty, but it's a lot simpler and more standard.

      • I use BubbleUpnp and it struggles with mkv files which is a real shame.

  • thanks for this OP.

Plex, PopCornTime, Netflix and Hangman…and you are all set. :)

OP you are missing the word "Music" in your title.

  • This is a deal breaker, gonna finally get one when it's next on sale. Thanks OP

  • Thanks, really wanted this!
