I got Bosch PSB 18V Li-2 on masters sale last week. I am not sure Hitachi is better than Bosch. Waiting for comments…

  Is your Bosch Blue or Green?

  Either way, given the choice, I would go Hitachi everytime.

  At least if you have Bosch Blue it is trade level gear, so comparable to Hitachi.

  Ask any tradie and it is the same answer.
  Hitachi, Panasonic, Milwaukee, Makita. (18v+ Li-on)

  Other brands are ok for the casual user, but those are the ones that stand up to "trade" use.

  This is a good drill and brand and not a bad price for those looking for a drill that will last them a long time.

      They were good 15 years ago. One of the first with Lion batteries.
      Since then they have pretty much stopped R&D one an innovation level, also stopped making them in the US and have been riding a good marketing campaign. (think of them like the Dyson of powertools)

  You are paying for quality batteries.
  Got them both with a torch & case on Amazon for $205 delivered

  Hitachi is up there with the higher end trade tools.

  I use and abuse Hitachi on work sites and have never had one die on me. Batteries are great too.

  Only drawback is their range of skins is not as great compared to some other brands, but they have all the main tools you would need.

  I too have the Hitachi Drill and Impact combo kit previously on here and am very happy with it. Definitely top notch quality and seems indestructible compared to my previous Black & Deckers, etc.

  I went for the bright green Ryobi Ones (18v LiOn) recently after considering Hitachi, due to the amazing amount of skins you can get. I hate the colour, but at least you dont misplace tools!

  Hitachi are good, but for regular home use there is nothing wrong with Ryobi One.

  My old Ryobi cordless drill was replaced after giving me almost 10 years of trouble free service, and thats only because the old NiCad battery was end of life.

  I've had tradies over and yes, they always seem to be using Hitachi, Panasonic, or Ryobi cordless drills. But you need to remember just how often you'll be using these things. If it's daily and for a living, and you dont want extra skins, spend the extra and go for Hitachi. But if its every now and again around the house, how practical your tools are (and being able to exchange skins with the same battery) is a big consideration as well.

  For instance, I've now got 4 skins… impact drill, impact driver, circular saw, and a jigsaw. I bought a starter pack with the impact drill that came with a heavy duty 4 battery, and a lighter 1.4… which allows you to charge one and use the other. As each of the 30 odd skins are about $100, getting extra tools is cheap and easy.

  And quality wise? My old powered jigsaw and circular saw cant keep up with the Ryobi One battery versions, and the convenience of no cables or power points is something very handy around the house for small odd jobs.

  I understand at a work site this isnt necessary, but again you need to remember where you'll be using it and how long for. Light weight, convenience, and cost of new skins and batteries needs to be considered… so dont just jump on Hitachi because its "the best". Ryobi One is right up there in quality and convenience.

  Edited: Also, the Ryobi One batteries have meters on them… very handy when you dont use them every day and you can see their power levels at a press of a button.

  Sounds like you have the green Bosch and are thinking of exchanging. This does seem like a better deal, but if your just using around the home I don't think you will notice any difference in performance.

  there are many trade brands (with trade warranties): Makita, Milwaukee, Dewalt, Bosch (Blue), Hitachi, Metabo, Panasonic, Hilti, AEG etc.

  However the first four that I mention are probably the top sellers in Australia by a fair margin…

  Anyone who tells you matter-of-factly that one brand is the best, or that one of them suck comprehensively, is probably not very objective. They all have pros/cons, better tools within their range, cost, warranty etc…..

  It has 2 x 2ah Batteries, an LED light and a battery level indicator on the drill.
  5 yr warranty on drill, 2yr on batteries.

  I just picked one up myself.
