Lavazza Modo Mio Simpla Cofee Machine $24 (RRP $129) After $30 CB+ Free Shipping @TGG eBay

730

Thanks unity1 for the discussion. Although you order through TGG ebay store, the Receipt/Tax Invoice is identical to the one you would be issued if you purchased the in store. I have notched that there is no mention of eBay on the Receipt/Tax Invoice, so you would have no problems to claim this cash back offer.

  • Which discussion? I didn't see any of unity1's discussion that relates to this deal.

    • Sorry it was through PM. May others comment on this who ordered through TGG/DS ebay stores.

  • Claims are only open to Australian residents aged 18 years or over who purchase a Lavazza A Modo Mio Premium Milk, Premium, Espria, Classic, Favola Easy or Simpla from any participating retailer nationally within the promotional period.

  • Anyone know what capsules this is compatible with?

    • Lavazza only.

  • Three packs of compatible pods will cost more than the machine. No thanks!

    • +1

I have one of these a day. At 75c each. I would pay more for these if I had to, considering the cheaper alternatives (nespresso, gloria jeans, etc) taste as bad as instant.

  • +3

This is the best capsule coffee I have tried. Should be noted that coles sell the pods now (albeit only 3 varieties, but deciso is the best anyway which they have.) ~$12 for 16 pods.

I saw a sticker on one of these machines yesterday in coles which said you can claim 32 free pods for buying one, I can't find a link to this anywhere though.

I got this one last year, and the steamer doesn't work anymore - not that I use it. I don't know if they fixed it with this one, but the one thing I don't like about mine is that it will not stop extracting until you press the button again.

Edit: For anyone who's after one that does milk too, myer have one for $75 with a steam wand AND separate frother ($124.50 - $50 cash back).

    • Cheers for this. Cancelled my GG order and placed a Myer order. I reckon this is a great deal by itself, since 124.50 is already at a 50% sale until this sunday. Not to mention this GG deal doesnt include a frother. I reckon its also worth publishing as a separate deal if you have the time !

Also Myer confirmed to be participating in the offer with no potential Ebay confusion.

  • +1

Everyone of these capsule machines i try produce a coffee too weak for me. (haven't tried ány from lavazza). There is simply not a large enough dose of coffee in the capsules.

    • +1

Its the same for Lavazza. Nespresso and Caffitaly, they all make really weak coffee. I have a plain old drip coffee pot at home which I prefer because I can make it strong enough to choke a brown dog.

  • You can also get capsules on ebay. Original and not original. Unsure about the quality of the latter ones.

  • legit question - any good? from existing owners?

    • I would (and recently have to a colleague) recommend this to anyone who is after a capsule machine. The coffee from it is miles above any other pod I've tried.

Just be advised that this will only give you a shot of espresso (or watered down espresso if you let it). If you want a flat white or a cappuccino, you'll need to get a milk frother.

    • Best pod capsules I've tasted. Lavazza or illy for coffee. ..cant go wrong

Various flavours and intensities you can taste the difference. One of favourites is lungo (yellow / brown colour pod) for larger cup size, but stick with small cup instead for that "hit"

    • +2

Lavazza is good coffee, but my sister's machine she got a few years ago was always dodgy. Maybe they have improved the quality of the machines …

I use Aldi ones at work and a Sunbeam Cafe Crema with "real" coffee at home. I feel guilty about the pods and wastage/refuse. They are the plastic water bottles of the coffee world.

      • +1

Yes sorry I should have clarified I meant for this to be for those that were mentioning the capsules on the website at 15% off

eBay orders for TGG are allocated to stores and the tax invoice they issue makes no mention of eBay. It's exactly the same invoice you would get if you purchased from their website.

  • +3

    @adamp:

TGG is a participating retailer if you check here. TGG ebay orders are processed via you nearest TGG store and you will get the tax invoice from TGG, which doesn't mention anything about ebay.

  • The Espresso button is a manual button.. Instead of measuring 40ml or 50ml and then turning off, it will pour espresso continuously until you press the button again. This means you have to know exactly how much and when to stop.

Coles is about to have the Minu on special for I'm guessing $49. Some stores have already had it for that price the past few weeks.

    • Coles not listed for the cash back though :-(

    • The Espresso button is a manual button.. Instead of measuring 40ml or 50ml and then turning off, it will pour espresso continuously until you press the button again. This means you have to know exactly how much and when to stop.

Isn't that a good thing? Means you can perfect it to make your coffee exactly how you like it.

      • You can do that even with automatic buttons.. You just hold it down if you want more.

    • +1

Has automatic cutoff, just made a cuppa.

    • Happy to recommend this machine - have had one for two years now. Far and away the best pod machine due to the (much) larger dose of coffee per pod. Previously pods only available at H/N, but now Coles have a range and they are frequently on special. H/N always drop a couple of dollars when you ask the question though - just tell them Coles are having a special. Morning coffee is something you can't take shortcuts on so choose carefully! My Mio machine has just been replaced by a fully auto Krups, takes up half of the kitchen bench. Certainly worth it though as I am in WA - the home of the $7.50 coffee!
  • +1

I use a delonghi Pixie and set the (adjustable) water volume to a miniscule half egg cup full (like they do in Italian espresso bars) and using Vittoria coffee it produces a credible intensity. It helps with the flavour if you prewarm the cup (I pop it in the microwave for a minute). With DIY capsules it's 12c a cup. Just sayin'……:-) !!

    • how do you DIY?

      • There are reusable capsules you can get to save on costs.

        • i thought that was for nespresso machines not this one

  • @Paklog: $7.50 coffee!? and I thought Sydney was bad lol

  • The Pods for these don't really make the machine worth it, I have the premium one and it's dumped in the garage. You practically need two pods to make a coffee worth drinking and even then my manual Breville machine makes much much nicer coffee at a fraction of the price.
The machine is cheap but I just don't see the value in it when coffee preparation and costs are no good

  • +1

How does this compare to the aldi expressi machine?

    • Would like to know this too.

      • +1

I've compared both. The Aldi machine feels cheaper overall and pushes water through the capsules differently. The Aldi one pierces the top of the capsule only and relies on water to come out of the top also. The 'pins' it uses are flimsy and sometimes the capsules don't entirely pierce and so you waste them. With the LavAzza machine both ends of the pods (bottom and top) are pierced and the water is pushed from one side of the pod, through it completely.

With the Aldi machine if you run the machine with no pod, water comes out of the nozzle. With the LavAzza the water will just go directly into the drip tray. As the machine is designed to push the water through the pod, if there is no pod then the water just falls into the tray. This caught me out by surprise and I tried running water through it to 'flush' the machine upon first use. However I ended up with a tray and eventually table covered in water.

I would recommend the LavAzza machine over the Aldi in terms of ease of use and noise also. It is considerably quieter (but that could be just down to the individual machine) and the large pull mechanism to insert/reject the capsule gives you better leverage. With the Aldi machine there is no large handle and sometimes if you don't apply enough force the capsule isn't pierced properly.

        • +2

Did you pull the "this is not a handle" lever down when trying to flush the machine?
It worked for me and flowed through the spout.

It even said on the instruction manual to put a cup under the spout and flush it before first use.

        • +1

          @unco:

yep i do this before every cup and to warm up the cup at the same time

any tips for making a killer cuppa? here's my routine that i've developed:

          1) Insert pod and let the water run until it turns off automatically. This fills up the cup about halfway.
          2) In a separate cup, pour half cup of milk, heat up milk in microwave and then use a whizz stick to froth up the milk
          3) Add the frothed up milk to the coffee cup
          4) Drink

        • @dajackal:

Wouldn't it be easier (and reduce washing) to heat the half cup of milk first and then drip the coffee into the same cup? This is what I do.

    • +3

I can imagine the coffee being "better" because, well, Lavazza is pretty good coffee.

      At the end of the day, I am drinking pod coffee at work because it is better than the free Nescafe 43 and cheaper than a proper long black each day. I am not necessarily drinking pod coffee because it is "good", I am drinking it because it is "good enough" ;

  • +1

    Great bargain, thanks OP.

So now I have received order confirmation from TGG mentioning that my order has been allocated to a store. Can I start claiming the cash back or I will get another receipt from TGG later on? Thanks.

    • Would anyone be able to shine light on what I send as proof ?

      • You will receive your tax invoice attached to the outside packing of your coffee machine. They do sometimes email you the tax invoice. Waits for your goods before you begin claiming.

  • +1

Thanks for your email. You will receive a standard 'The Good Guys' Invoice, the same as what would be received in store.
Please feel free to contact us if we can be of any further assistance.
    Regards,
    Chris

    email received from TGG

so that will confirm that you will be able to receive a cashback for the ebay purchase

  • Can someone please explain how to pay $24 for this step-by-step?

    • +1

Pay $54 through TGG eBay store. Fill out cashback claim form to get $30 cashback = $24 out of pocket once received. It's all there in the OP's instructions mate…

      • +1

Edit: Didn't realise they were different models.

    • -1

Claims are only open to Australian residents aged 18 years or over. If you are oversea students or with tr visa then no chance of getting offer.

      • I see this mentioned in the terms and conditions of just about every promotion, but really how would they even know?

I have never in my life been asked to provide proof of such things.

      • +2

        Depends how you define resident.
I haven't read the fine print but you don't mention anything about being a 'permanent resident'.
Overseas students on the most parts are considered residents.

  • $24 for a coffee machine, feedback seems positive thus far. This machine is a bargain. Even if personally you have a problem with the taste of the coffee, $24 isn't much to drop.

  • we have been using one of these ( model up with steam nozzle ) at work and another ( smaller model ) in our caravan when away for the last few years.
Best capsule machine there is from a taste perspective, without doubt.
I have a manual machine for when i want to do that, but for a quick shot, or when i am at work and just want the simplicity of pods, this is the way to go.

Happy to pay more for pods that are decent.
I have nothing against the Aldi machine having used one too at work, but the coffee while ok just isnt as good by comparison.

The Divinamente pods ( dark blue / purple ones )are my favourite.

  • +1

Use it as a hot water dispenser. :)

  • Anyone buy this? Does TGG send and invoice or just an order received voucher?
    cheers

    • +1

You will receive a proper detailed Tax Invoice just as if you had purchased in store. It will have all the details required inorder to submit your claim.

      • Do you upload a jpg screencap of the email or a pdf of the invoice?

        • +1

Scan a copy of the original invoice as a pdf and attach it to you claim.

  • Seems to be a few ppl out there raving about the flavour of the pods. I've always been a lavazzo guy and used a stove top (manual) unit until now. Just ordered one of these because why not!? But wondered whether anyone out there had tried both the nespresso machines and one of these?Certainly I like nespresso better than the aldi but haven't used a lavazza pod machine.

  • My tax invoice says "Ebay Delivery" as a separate line item.

    • Question is would that make it ineligible? TGG eBay store is still part of TGG.

      • +1

If there is any mention of ebay in the comments section simply scan your invoice, remove any mention of ebay, and attach the invoice to your claim.

        • Do they include a pdf invoice with the order confirmation email? Would save manually scanning the one that comes with the delivery.

        • +1

@grab_ur_freebies: They will always send the invoice with the goods being delivered. Sometimes you may receive a PDF copy via email.

        • @unity1: Mine was delivered by TGG (not courier) and didn't come with an invoice :(

        • @peuwayaqdq: In that case they may send it via email, or call the store and ask them to post it to you.

  • Seems to come with a pack of 16 sample pods with the unit. Not bad. $1.5/cup even if you throw out the machine after using all the pods.

    • mine only came with 12 sample pods.

      • did you get 'ebay delivery' on your invoice?

    • Mine came with 12 also.

  • whats the chances that $55 included $5 delivery and the unclaimable $30 cashback?
(55-5+30=80 which is roughly 79 instore)

  • Was very tempted to get one until i read reviews on link below. Sum Excellent ratings but also a bunch of Terrible ones. Seems bit hit and miss.
    http://www.productreview.com.au/p/saeco-lavazza-a-modo-mio.h…

    • +1

The link above is for the Saeco versions. Comments above plus TGG website note that the deal is for the newer Electrolux version.

There cod be a review somewhere of the changes, if any, in this updated version from Electrolux.

  • Can anyone else confirm u get 16 sample pods with the machine?

    • +1

      I received 12, it's inside the box.

      • Cheers. No issues with your cash back with the TGG eBay invoice?

        • I need to wait 10 days for them to contact me and then i will see.

  • Mine has been sent according to Ebay, so I will post updates once received.

  • Do TGG send an email with attachment or do you need to take a screen shot?

    • TGG do not send an e-mail.

The box arrives with a TGG branded invoice attached (paper hardcopy) that you will need to scan or take a photo of.
Alternatively you could post it the traditional way.

I know, my machine arrived today :)

      • I received an email and no hard copy.

      • Hi tommyc, does it say tax invoice? Mine says Sales Order.

        • It says Receipt/Tax Invoice and has and ABN and ACN on the header alongside TGG logo.

  • Is it safe to give bank account number? I read many reviews that it might be misused if you don't trust the site.

  • Any idea i can use the store credit for ebay store?

  • My machine also arrived today, mentions ebay on the receipt.

  • I got the coffee machine today with "sales order payment". Checked my email and no "tax invoice".
IS this sales order payment served as tax invoice?

    thanks

    • Same with mine. As the docket must be produced for guaranteed service, I would assume this is it?

Actually I ordered two and they were processed by different stores and both are different story. My other one doesn't come with either sales order payment nor tax invoice. I am going to call the store today.

  • I got mine today. There is no tax invoice inside box.
I asked the shop and asked for it. It arrived to my email address very quickly.
BTW, there are 12 pods inside.

    • Does your tax invoice have any reference to it being a web order? My sales order says web order thought doesn't say anything about ebay.

      • It says
        Sales Person WEB S
        and
        Brand=Admin, Model=EBAYDEL, Description=eBay Delivery
        in Sales Details

        • Thanks for your reply. Did you submit it for cash back claim? Wondering why the eBay part should interfere with the cash back as it is by TGG anyway.

        • @peuwayaqdq:
Sorry late reply. Yes, I did submit hide nothing.
And I received approval mail today.

  • OK I got a copy of tax invoice (not sales order) for both my coffee machine processed by two different Good Guys stores. Both mentioned reference to eBay delivery. Reading the terms and conditions again, one can interpret that third party ebay retailers that are not eligible and TGG ebay should be eligible?

  • Bah mine was faulty so I had to return it. Unfortunately they had no stock left so I settled for a refund. Hoping the cash back goes through so I can make $30 profit.

    • How come they had no stock? Their eBay store is still selling it.

      • ebay orders will be directed to stores which still have stock. It does not mean every store will have stock.
