  • It's pretty good for cutting onions

    • +1

      I'd be crying if I paid that much for an onion cutter

  • Can someone please explain to me why this is so much better than their normal 27" UltraSharp that you can calibrate yourself with something like a ColorMunki?

    • You mean this one compared to the $605 Ultrasharp UZ2715H?

      The obvious difference is this one has better colour and resolution:
      * 2560 x 1440
      * 10-bit (1.074 billion colours)
      * covers 99% AdobeRGB and 100% sRGB colourspaces

      The UZ2715H is a 'multimedia' monitor:
      * 1920 x 1080
      * 6-bit+FRC (16.77 million colours)
      * (no colour gamut specs, but it'll be something like ~75% AdobeRGB and ~95 sRGB
      * inbuilt speakers and webcam

          Was about to add that one to my reply.

          The U2713HM $818.99 does 2560 x 1440, but it only is 6-bit (16.78 million colors).

        • @Thrift:

          Is the colour resolution the only difference? (Beside the "factory calibration")

        • And with the current deal, the U2713H is $699 while the lesser spec U2713HM is $819.

        • @Thrift:

          Well that one is often (like several times a year) on sale for less than $600. I thought about getting it for that price a couple of weeks ago actually.

        • @jazoom: There are other differences, like power consumption.

          And connections:
          * The U2713H has DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort, and mini DisplayPort.
          * The U2713HM has DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort, and VGA.

        • @Thrift:

          I guess those differences are mainly due to this model being newer. Those seem like changes that any updated monitor could have. That's actually one reason I didn't pull the trigger on the other monitor. It's quite an old model now. Surely a new one can't be too far off. Plus the reviews talked about a problem with it that kinda scared me off.

        • @jazoom:
          When I needed to decide I also looked at the power usage, where the HM is spec'ed lower (42W) than the H (60W).

  • How does this one compare to the U2713HM?

    I keep missing out on the sales for that one… think it's been as low as $579.

    • Yes, that's what I want to know. Beside all the marketing speak, is the panel better for some reason? Colour gamut blah blah… How much better is it than a well configured other Ultrasharp, which are meant to have awesome colour anyway.

      • If you're doing proper graphics work, the colour differences are worth it. If you "dabble", you won't really notice it.

        • Thanks. Yeah, I probably fall into the "dabble" category. I don't do professional work that needs accurate colours.

    • How does this one compare to the U2713HM?

      U2713HM:

      My question about the U2713H is what are the max resolutions possible using the HDMI and the VGA connector. Anyone knows?

      • Yeah, that's the thing that made me wary. (Except DVI instead of VGA).

  • Might as well get a 4K monitor which is around this price range?

    • Those are TN panels.

      • Yes. Resolution is only a small part of why you'd get these monitors. The bigger part is the amazing colour reproduction.

        • As an example, on my U2711 the Ozbargain orange looks like a lovely vibrant orange, moving the browser over to my cheap Kogan 27 the orange gets a very brownish tone to it.. and I have colour calibrated them both. Independently viewed you'd never notice.

    Don't forget that this model has a DisplayPort out, so you can run 2 from the one miniDP on your Mac.

    As for the billions of colours versus millions on the HM version - not really worth it unless you work in AdobeRGB.

    You'll also want a calibrator to set these up. I have the x-rite i1 Display Pro to set my U2713H up.

    Would I buy again versus U2713HM on special? - nope - only need the 1 to then loop to a HM to run 2 displays.
