Virgin Money Velocity Flyer Card ($0 Annual Fee for The First Year + 20,000 FF Points)

130

I found this deal earlier today, the annual fee is waived for the first year (usually $129) + you receive 10,000 Velocity FF points after the first transaction and 10,000 more if you spend $5k within 3 months.

There is also a deal where you receive 40,000 FF points on their High Flyer card, though there is an annual fee of $289.

You have to sign up through this link, though I believe it isn't a targeted offer and anyone can apply.

First deal I've posted so hopefully I didn't miss anything!

EDIT: Another user has posted a deal to the standard Virgin Money card which gives 0% balance transfers for 14 months. I don't believe that card gives FF points, but is rather just a standard card with an extended balance transfer period. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/158439

  • The $0 annual fee and 20,000 free points mean that at the very least this is a free flight somewhere, plus 4x B1G1F flights a year. Good deal.

I have this card from same deal last time.
20k points are good but BOGOF flight deal is a total bs.
      1. you still pay tax for 2nd ticket.
      2. BOGOF ticket is applicable on one of the most expensive economy ticket.
Tried to use it once but it wasn't worth it at all.

      • Yeah it basically works out to "You get sale fares on demand" rather than a true "half what the website says", but as someone who is happy to pay a little extra to fly Virgin when flying to the east coast, it's still a nice perk.

Is it possible to have too much credit? I'll soon have up to 12 ANZ credit cards…

    • Get a citi one for a difference:

Virgin Money (Australia) Pty Limited ABN 75 103 478 897 distributes the Virgin Money Credit Cards ("Credit Cards") under an arrangement with Citigroup Pty Ltd ABN 88 004 325 080 AFSL No. 238098, Australian Credit Licence 238098 ("Citibank"). It's VERY possible muncan, cause if you already have heaps of cards and another awesome card/points deal comes along, you may not get approved for it. I reckon you should cancel each card relatively soon after the points are received, with the exception of the one that gives the most points per dollar spent (usually an AMEX one).

Thanks for the tips GnarlyKnuckles. I've received my first 50,000 points - figured I'd wait until my applications are all approved before I start closing them (and of course after each has spawned a 50k point bonus). Definitely don't want to be hit with annual card fees! I fear with all these other credit cards following suit with these attractive FF bonus points offers, I won't be able to keep up and my credit will explode…. and there'll be the sound of GnarlyKnuckles banging on my door :-)

  • What is VFF 20,000 like in gift card dollar terms?

  • For VFF 40k one:

Additional (to first 10k) 30,000 bonus Velocity Points offer is provided if you also spend $10,000 on Retail Purchases on the card within 3 months of card approval date

  • 10,000 bonus Velocity Points offer is provided to new approved Virgin Australia Velocity Flyer Card account holders who apply by 30 September 2014 and make a Retail Purchase with the card within 3 months of card approval date. Additional 10,000 bonus Velocity Points offer is provided if you also spend $5,000 on Retail Purchases on the card within 3 months of card approval date.

    • I cancelled my previous card back in May, hence, would I now be classed as a new account holder?
