checked most of the dates between Jan - Mar.
cheapest Manila to Sydney was $156, $44 cannot be found.

    • I put in Syd - Mnl 18 Feb and return 25 Feb and got the $99 and $44 result. But then a one-way from Mnl - Syd comes up as PHP 4,999 ($123) !

  • my $143 flight is in 2 weeks :D

maybe the cheap return flights only show up when booking both legs together.

I simply cannot believe they can profit with a flight full of these priced tickets? does anyone know the numbers on this ?

They seriously need to send out emails to make us aware of these, would get so much more business I think!!

    • I am tempted to book again for march, but I guess this promo will be up again soon enough.

"I simply cannot believe they can profit"

      They don't.

      • +1

So what's the catch if they don't profit?

        • Same as any loss leader. Hopefully you'll fly again later, cheap dates aren't good but hopefully you'll visit the site and book anyway etc.

For example Jetstar are often $60 MEL->SYD and we all know QANTAS isn't raking in profit, so no way in the world Cebu can fly such distances and make a profit.

Mostly a domestic airline. These discount international flights are no doubt running in the red.

    • They hold the record for the most cramped A330 in the world. 436 seats. (all economy)

In comparison, the much bigger Qantas A380 had 450 seats on launch

      • "436 seats." Holy smoke!! AirAsia X would only be 390 - 400 economy seats if it was configured all one class, and they don't have an inch to spare. The A330's can only get 9 wide, so the leg room must be really cramped!

They would never have a flight full of only these cheap flights. Same as every airline that has sales, the person sitting next to you could have paid full price for their seat. They will only have a handful of seats on each flight at the sale price.

    • "my $143 flight is in 2 weeks". Take your brolly hehe! Re numbers, I suspect low. I used to get email specials from them for their domestic flights, and I looked quickly, only to find no longer available. IE Be very very quick!!

    • mind sharing with us what you'll do there?

Mine's in October… I've no idea what I'll be doing there

      • +2

Take a flight to Taiwan have a blast, return and catch the flight home… SIMPLE !

This is the cheapest ticket out of Australia, what happens next is your design. ;)

      • I will share my plans. Manila, Puerto Galera, Manila.

        Leave Manila.

But if you're stuck in Manila for a day take Carlos Celdran's walking tour of Intramuros. It's not only interesting stuff, but he's the best tour guide I've ever known (http://celdrantours.blogspot.com.au/). There's plenty of good hotels in Manila, so you can easily avoid the Midas Hotel/Casino.

If you can get out of Manila and you want to feel like you're not in the Philippines go to Boracay. It's your typical western tourist trap. I've not been as I can get ripped off anywhere else in the world.

If you want the creature comforts, want beautiful white-sand beaches, but are interested in history, geography and a rich culture go to Bohol and stay in a resort (I recommend the Bohol Beach Club, but your overnight will cost more than your bargain plane ticket!). Take the island tour. It's an amazing place. The Chocolate Hills are spectacular and the Loboc River cruise is out of this world. The Tarsiers (tiny mammals) are ridiculously cute. And grab some Otap for a snack. There's also great SCUBA diving and surfing around Bohol I hear.

  • Thanks for sharing :)

  • Flown with them domestically throughout the Philippines recently and every single flight took off right on time and even ahead of schedule on a few occasions.

They play games on flights too. One of them was to recite an Australian-themed tongue twister to celebrate Sydney as a new destination. I know its unfair that I won seeing as I was probably the only Aussie on board but whatever.

  • Nothing available in January unfortunately, just February to march.

  • Error on the the page that choose flights :(
    anyone else?

    • Yes, got an error in Chrome but worked for me on Firefox.

You can use this to do an awesome holiday :

Syd > Manila spend some time
Manila > Dubai spend some time
Dubai > anywhere in europe (approx 600 return) spend some time!!!

    total cost ~1000 RT
    I remember this from https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/97476

I would recommend taking a look at this one and seeing if it suits your dates.

  • Great deal - worst web portal ever. Can't tell you how many times it hung half way through booking…

  • +1

this is cheaper than the taxi to the airport !!

I found a return trip Bangkok to Manila, 1 Thai baht each way. Total after taxes etc. approx $A100 each way !! excluding baggage, food, seat selection. Still a good price, but not a nice way to do pricing. I am pretty sure that they cannot do that in bookings originating in Australia.

    • Nice article. I booked a 2 week trip in Feb and I was mostly planning on staying in the city but after seeing those Palawan pics in the article, I think I'm gonna have to go back there.

      • Boracay also looks very good.

        • Was there late last year, unfortunately just after the big storm. Awesome place.

  • Was the promo on for just a day? :(
