I know it has been as cheap as $79 but thought this was quite a good deal.

So went to purchase the Huawei G526 today at Big W as it was 25% off. I went in asked to purchase it, but for some reason it came up as regular price of $129 less discount - $119.25. I asked why is that amount not less 25%. I said check with someone higher up. Manager confirmed actual price of $96.75. Was very happy!

      So that's a Huawei G526B aye… i gotta get me one of those ;)

I'm not gonna suggest rooting the device…but yeah…

    • LOL Have no idea why that thumbnail comes up!

      • may have something to do with your avatar

        • Nothing to do with my avatar, talking about the ezibuy pick.

      • We can't currently get the image from BigW's catalogues, as the link to image is not in the HTML coming back from their server. We then took the standard OpenGraph image found in the HTML, which is

        http://www.bigw.com.au/assets/socialmedia_share_image.jpg

If you paste the URL for your deal into Facebook, it would get the same EziBuy image in thumbnail. Something is broken there…

Make it the default thumbnail for 1 April 2015 :-)

I'd take a jab and say it might be regarding the cup size?

lol but seriously… i think it could be referring to the colour?

I got this a while back when it was $99 at DSE and it's been an absolute cracker of a phone at that price.

I'm not sure about alternatives of this spec at this price at present but the phone itself is top notch. I've had no issues whatsoever with the phone compared to other famous branded phones I've had in the past (ie. random restarts, laggy software, weak loudspeaker etc).

Just remember to root it to enjoy ad-free experience on freeware versions of apps.

Got one from post office at 49.00 2 weeks ago. Should be the same from all post offices since the price came up from their system. Just to see if you can find any stock.

  • Please attach receipt

  • Can anyone tell me what performance is like in comparison to a Galaxy s3 or Galaxy s2? I've just cracked my screen for the 5th time on my s3 and am in desperate need of a phone that will work on Telstra, but would prefer something I can live with for a while.

    • My wife has the s3 and they are actually very comparable phones.

It's actually the same CPU as the s4 mini but underclocked. Camera not as strong as Samsung.

For the money I don't think anything else comes close and you might get it unlocked free through Vodafone or cheaply elsewhere.

      • Thanks. I never use the camera, so it sounds like the perfect solution. Thanks a lot

    • Same happened to me. If you don't mind my asking here, where do you get your screen replaced? Cost?

  • Has this been confirmed? I can't say as to whether it will be all big w stores…so why has it been changed?

It's in the latest brochure 25% off all Vodafone gear and it's normal price at Big W is $129 (jb the scum have it for $199) so it should be all good.

I was in a Big W today and saw the $129 price tag, but no mention of the 25% discount. Would have picked another one up for that price.

  • Nothing at my local bigw.

There was one more left at Liverpool Westfields NSW, Thanks Treeman, the guy would not budge until i showed him your receipt

Glad I could help someone out!

  • Sorry for yet another question, but I didn't think this was worthy of another thread. Would the people who know better than me:
    1) spend $150 to get a new screen for a galaxy s3
    2) spend @99 - $129 for this G526
    3) spend $215ish for a Moto G 3g local stock (DSE with 10% off)
    4) spend $215ish for a Moto G LTE from DWI

    • Get the g526 for short term use, lots of new phones coming in the next few months.

Certainly wouldn't get a new screen for the s3 when you can get the g526 for cheaper and 2 year warranty.

The moto g has nothing worth 2x the price over the g526.

Need a micro so card though to save you apps to. Titanium backup is useful too.

      • Thanks. I'll report back if I manage to find one in Canberra.

        • There is one in Tuggeranong; at $119 though… not $96.XX

        • @AG_ACT: I should clarify that the reason I was given was that the 25% is off the full price of $159, not the discounted price of $129.

  • So does this phone have a 2 year warranty?

    • Think all vodafone handsets do

    • Seems a little unclear. full priced Vodafone prepaid handset25% off the marked price. So if the price is already discounted, which some stores claim the $129 price is, then they shouldn't give any further discount.

      • Yeah, I think I exposed a loophole with the sales attendant which is why I originally didn't put it as Australia wide just the store I went to. But others have confirmed it with my receipt shown so give that a go if interested.

  • If anyone is after a review on this handset, after a few hours hours with it, I'll say this, for the money, it's good, great in fact. But if anyone thinks it's on par with a top end phone from 2-3 years ago (e.g. galaxy s3 / G2 / One X etc) they are kidding themselves.

And I really want to know how to remove that stupid google bar from the top of my screen

    • And I really want to know how to remove that stupid google bar from the top of my screen

Hold your finger on that till a pop up comes along and then click "remove" ;)
      Your welcome…

      • Thanks for your message. I must have a different variant to you… I definitely can't remove the search bar the same way as I can any other app shortcut/ widget on the home screen.

I can confirm that with Vodafone unlock if it is not in the system, they will provide you with free unlock code :)

Thanks again saved me $3.99 unlocking LOL

  • Couldn't get the price inBigw stockland, manager was not keen to apply 25% even with the receipt

    • That's a shame, I probably got in ahead of others and slipped it in front of the store manager without them realising. Bad luck!
