Why is Lenser better than Nitecore or Fenix torchlight?

    • Did anyone say it was better?

      • Oops, must have read wrongly that OP said it is the best.

You can get a Thrunite Archer 2A off eBay for less than the price of that P6; it's brighter and lasts longer:

    Firefly 1: 0.2 lm, 678 hours; Low: 24 lm, 22 hours; Mid: 90 lm, 5 hours; Max output: 272 lm, 75minutes; Strobe: 272 lm, 2.5 hours.

Personally I went with the single-AA version - it's small enough to carry around in a pocket, lasts for ages, and is plenty bright enough.

For those not keeping track of LED technology, the Thrunite has a more efficient LED "bulb" than the Lenser. You can either use that efficiency to get more (brighter) light out of the same amount of battery power, or you can use battery power more slowly, giving you the same amount of light but for longer.

    • Could you link to which one. It looks like there are a couple of different model Thrunite Archer 2A on ebay.

Anyone that actually knows torches knows that LED Lenser is one of the biggest lumps of crap in the torch world. Take your second link. You spend around $60 and you get

    • 'water resistance'
    • 185 lumens which is only ever good for walking around a dark house. Outdoors is insufficent
    • weights 375 WITHOUT batteries
    • uses 4 AA batteries for much more weight
    • is HUGE

Jesus please people don't buy this you will regret it.

You can get a better. If you want to stick to high-quality branded torches, a Nitecore EA41 is $51US. You get

    • true waterproof (fully submerge 2m for 2 hours)
    • 1/3 the size
    • 1/3 the weight
    • 960 lumens (Nitecore don't overstate)
    • still uses AA

You can spend even less if you get something like a Convoy S2, separate battery and charger.

easternculture posts a COTD deal almost every day. Is it about the deals, or is it about referral credits?

        • -2

I don't consider my past Vinomofo posts as spam, as I have only posted when I had unique and useful information such as the identity of the secret deal. This info has been much appreciated by other Ozbargainers who have been in the market to buy wine. Alternatively you can pay $35 to join redbigot's forum to get the same info there. There is no option to not post the referral links, that is how the site has set things up, not me. I have been labelled a referral spammer I believe by pals of easternculture, as he was posting Vinomofo deals (clearly for credits) regularly too and got a hard time as he had no useful info to contribute. I'm not sure why some people on this forum are so averse to the Vinomofo posts which have a clear following here on Ozbargain, and yet the many posts on other businesses such as COTD are OK. I'm just a wine enthusiast who was trying to share some expertise, sorry.

@Sweet3st: TL;DR - You're just sour and trolling anyone that has commented negatively in your posts.

    • Well said mate

    • BLF buddy!!!

      Excellent advice right here.

How long does he battery last on the nitecore, 960 lumens must use a bit, I guess it has variable output though?

    • where can you get the Nitecore ea41 for $51US? Link?
