Broccoli seems to make it to OzBargain a bit lately, nice contrast against the Dominos and KFC deals!

I can only begin to imagine how much they screwed the hard-working aussie farmers to sell at this stupidly cheap price :(

Educate yourselves on the disgusting Coles/Woolworths Duopoly…

I've boycotted both completely and have actually been able to get much higher quality produce, often at cheaper prices by buying from smaller family owned businesses and also buying in bulk.

Totally agree. I hate the way that the Wesfarmers (Coles, Bunnings, etc) and Woolworths Mega Duopolies are being allowed to manipulate the imaginary free market to control so much about what we are allowed to purchase and the price we must pay.

Don't know that it's just coles/wollies screwing down the price. Have seen it in local fruit n veg stores drop in price to $1.50 two weeks ago and even $1.30 last week - so think part might be seasonal.

        • yup, the local IGA and F&V store had broccoli at this price weeks ago, way before Coles and Woolies started selling at this price.

    • I always hear about higher quality produce for cheaper prices… yet I don't believe this exists in Brisbane.

      • +1

It exists. Just less people here posting vegie deals ;-)

I commented in the Woolies $5/kg Strawberries deal, that great ones were $1.55/kg then in my local Westfield right outside Woolies (so likely cheaper elsewhere in Brissie). By selecting the ripest to eat, had a continuous supply for many days & house smelt great. Nothing wrong with quality or taste - very enjoyable.

Does broccoli store well in freezer? I like broccoli but can only go through so much at a time…

I can fill the chest freezer up with broccoli, OzBargain style :D (kidding)

      • Wow that first link is actually really useful.

I'm not sure why it never occurred to me I could freeze my own broccoli…

  • God-damn broccoli is delicious!
