Sorry for late notice. Just remembered that UK records on ancestry.co.uk are completely free this weekend.

If you are not already registered, just set up a dummy registration. Leave it there and you can use it again next time there is a freebie.

They record your login details (IP?) so you can only have one free access.

I have never had any problems. I am registered on both ancestry.com.au and ancestry.co.uk and only use them when there are free weekends.

Have had both for years.

If you think they record your details, then delete all the ancestry cookies, though I have never had to do that.

I don't know why people always have problems with this every time there is a free weekend. It never fails for me, and I am certainly not special, I don't work for Ancestry, I don't have a paid membership of Ancestry, and to be honest, I don't much care for Ancestry. I prefer to use Find My Past and The Genealogist, but Ancestry does have some record sets not available elsewhere.

I use Chrome browser, but I just noticed that if I go to the uk website on Firefox, it defaults back to the australian site - which is not free. Guess it is reading my IP address. Don't know how to fix that. So if you are having problems, make sure you are going to the correct site.

Thanks. Last time I tried it gave a message "only one free trial permitted". After reading your comment just logged in and started using it, ignoring the free trial page. Worked!
