  • Great deal. Ill head over to the local coles and see if they have this deal at lunch time. This brings back great memories of when I was going to Uni. At lunch time a friend and I used to go to the coles which was nearby and get 1 chicken each. One bad thing was that I felt like sleeping during the lectures

It's a Manager Special for today only … there's no need for a coupon. Just rock up and pick it up.

Moding peoples comments is crossing the line imho. Mods have no place messing with comments regardless of intentions (unless comments are offensive of course).

I'll leave my 2 cents on the bench here..

    • +1

I am ok as long as the mod is shown as such - modding without disclosure would be crossing the line

In this case the mod is simply helping all readers understand which state the commentor is in - I don't see harm in that

I don't feel it's the moderator's place to inject content into peoples comments. I feel once people have written something and put their name to the comment, the only place the moderator should step in is to censor.

If mods want to add information, then adding it in the description is more appropriate imho.

    • Not the mod who did this, but if this is an issue to you and others, which I accept it can be, then why not raise this in the talk to a moderator forum

      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/forum/10041

So you views can be heard. That way a discussion can be had and a resolution be made. That way your 2 cents will get some value. I have raised it separately with the other mods but this way your views and the others who have voted positively on your comment can be better represented

Shouldn't that advert say 2 for only $10?

  • dont know why, but I went and bought a couple. Now I have 1 and a half chickens left over. Any ideas what to do with them?

    • It's about on par with the price of some dog food. Do you own dogs? ;)

      eat them later

  • Uh oh. Getting a few.

  • Bought one pack of 2 for $10 in Central West Shopping Center, Braybrook - Melbourne - Victoria

    Cheers

  • Valid in WA?

    • sure is. i got 2, sharing 1 with my sister :)

  • It is valid in WA. Bought 2 - 1 for myself and 1 for a friend. I finished my one but the friend couldnt finish his one. Had a bottle of Nandos extra hot sauce - went quite well with it. Now i feel like taking a nap (could also be due to the fact that I got woken up at 6.25am for being on call)

      thanks for sharing…..

  • FYI - regular price of a single BBQ chicken at Coles is $8.48.

Maybe worth putting that in the description for all those leaving work now about to go and get dinner :)

    • if you wait till closing time and they still have some left, they get reduced to 3 to 5 bux each.
once i saw the manager yelling out 5 for $10 just to get rid of them all at the last minute.

      • For sure, happens most days at the Coles near me. And if you get lucky you get a family size chook for the same discount :)

        • i missed out on this deal, but last night managed to get a family size chook for $4 near closing time. only remembered to look in the deli section cos i was reminded of this post just as i walked in, so thanks to the OP…! still gets a positive vote from me…=)

  • i bought 2 at ringwood coles in vic. Good catch!

Tried to get some tonight. No go :( Apparently sold out, but asked what the 20 or so chickens in the rotisserie were for. Got a response of "they are reserved for staff".

    Thanks Moonee Ponds Coles. Jerks!

geez i'd complain to state management if i was told that

  • This is nice deal. Got a pair of chooks off Malvern Coles for $10. The last chicken of the day.

  • -2

how was the taste.. never try it before…

    • +2

      It tastes like…..roast chicken.

  • FYI, coles are doing some big sales over the next few weeks, with one BIG special per day.
I can't remember exactly what's coming up, other than 24pk Cokes for $11 each on Friday. That's the SA price, which means they should be up to $2.40 cheaper interstate as there's no deposit on the cans anywhere else!

When i went, they only had 1 regular chicken left. So i really felt like having chicken that day so i went to woolies instead.

Comparing the sizes of the chickens, woolies sell the Extra Large BBQ chicken for $10 each. And visually though, the extra large chickens were approx the same amount of meat compared to the 2x regular chickens from coles.

  • Why I miss this??? Don't know if it's good or bad though :)

  • Well, they were either young or underfed! My guess would have been a size 10 bird. Still, the kids made short work of the meat served with a simple risotto!
