    • Must be made in China for that cheap price.

      • MEIXIN should be made in HK.

the original price is $14 for only one cake, and the Chinese made been sold by $10~$20 a box with 4 cakes in it.

the reason the price drop is because it is closed to the expired day. the moon cake is only for celebrating chinese mid-autumn festival(it's 8, Sep for this year), almost all the chinese would eat the cake during the festival. However, no one would produce and sell it, and also no one would tend to buy and eat it few days after the festival. so they had to drop down the price.

Ronghua and Meixin is two of the best taste moon cake and both are made in HK. For such a low low price, guys should try one, even just paying for the nice tin~ right?

You guys should get this brand.
This is the most famous brand of mooncakes.
    This is made in HongKong.
Because of so many fake and tainted products, the mooncake manufacturer has barcode and number to verify authenticness.
This is how crazy it is when the item has lots of demands.

Also, the day before mid-autumn festival, a lot of places is sold out and I have trouble finding this brand.
I bought the last pack in some asian shop.
Then later that evening, I saw it in woolies.
It was the last place I would look or even think.
Next year I will know where to buy.

    • Wife loves moon cake even though she is not Chinese and I told her about the fat content. Once a year. i shut up.

      • 29% sugar, & 23% fat :)

    • Lets see if there's more gutter oil next year then will decide buy ANY MOONCAKE

These are priced to clear because they are being replaced by Mars Cake…

    • I google image searched Mars Cake. Now I'm hankerin' for some Mars cake….

      • You wouldn't say that about the Uranus Cake (someone had to say it).

        • Ahhhh ya dag.

    • deep fried, in lard?

    • LOL~~ you totally got me~

  • wish my local Woolies have these :(

    • +1

      Only in China

      • That gutter oil source seems from Taiwan, and both Hong Kong and Taiwan got suffered.

        • There is already news that Mei Sum has state that no lard is used in the production of mooncakes but Hongkong Authorities of Food and Safety (CFS) conducted a lab test on it.

"Although Maxim's has said they did not use the lard from Chang Guann in making their mooncakes, the CFS is conducting tests on the mooncakes anyway and taking samples of a number of products - bread, cookies, almond strips - which used lard from the four oil importers. CFS reportedly has found no evidence of tainted lard being used in anything other than Maxim's pineapple buns."

I'm confused. Surely if these are real mooncakes then they are simply made out of cheese.

    • Please, you can't apply a western myth to an Asian food. And besides, many Asians are lactose intolerant :-P

      • Gentleman, this is where you are wrong.
You haven't been exposed to the Shanghai Mooncake.

  • If $2.80 were the original price then must be made in China.
But $14 per one then it should be genuine made in HK.

And also the expiry date is nearly due, most of moon cake expire(best before) 30 Sep or early Oct.

    • I gave you a +, you were -1 before…

why someone would - you, while you were just trying to explain the truth…ridiculous

  • Oh wow, I didn't know Woolies sold moon cakes. $2.80 for one is a steal. Normally they go for $40 for 4 in a bigger tin box.

[Warning!!]DO NOT BUY IT this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The disgusting Taiwan gutter oil is used by this brand, Meixin is a good brand, but the Taiwan gutter oil was affecting many good food producer in Asia this year, Meixin was one of them

    Check This news:
    http://time.com/3300093/taiwan-gutter-oil-hong-kong-chang-gu…

  • No way to tell if these Mei Sum have been contaminated.

All mooncakes have been affected including HK made ones.

For your own good, don't buy mooncakes this year, you don't know exactly which factory its coming from or contains lard or gutter oil

Brand is HK but most Mooncakes ARE NOT made in HK anymore. Even Taiwanese mooncakes are affected.

You shouldn't solely trust online articles saying nothing in them.

Some media reports have companies behind the scenes controlling media.

Regardless my trust in Mooncake quality control is down the drain, so long Mooncakes…can never reached the best ones back in childhood.

    • Jeez… Made in Hong Kong means made in Hong Kong.
And the test was taken by the HK government
You should be more worried about all those food you can find in Coles and Woolworths that are imported from China.

You actually trust HK governament more than Aus…we have the most restricted on imports…

HK governament is part of China now. Everybody hates their PM and their underlings.

They operate with the will of Beijing. Why do you think so many people protest on the streets?

HK gov is also corrupted. Go ask people over there, and their confidence on food after this incident.

Plenty of Made in China stuff labelled themselves as Made in HK.

        • All mooncakes have been affected

we have the most restricted on imports

ok so Woolworths are smuggling mooncake. Thx.

    • Same, went in to check at my local woolies around Melbourne, expiry on Sept 30 but still $14 for one and $43 for 4 :(

  • Not sure if it's the egg or something else, but there's something in Moon cake that triggers my gag reflex and nausea, I feel like throwing up. I eat pretty much anything too, does anyone else get that?

    • They have salted eggs yolk. Try to get the one without salted eggs yolk

  • +1

So… OP… have you tried your mooncake yet?

What did you think of it? :D
