  • +2

What's the OzBargain outfit? Is it the same as a birthday suit?

How will we carry our SCA membership cards?

    • +2

Insert it into your card slot?

  • +1

My registered store is Rockdale. So, it should be Nationwide.

  • +1

How do I know I have $10 credit?

    • My question too.

      • +4

Login to your account between 6pm and 8pm on that day, click on Loyalty credit and you should be able to see it.

  • +1

Is this only in store? Or can we use click and collect?

  • +1

What is something useful to buy if I'm not a car person

    • +1

batteries, spray paint, WD40, CB radios, spare car bulbs…

    • +4

There's confectionery at the front counter and possibly one of those small drink fridges. Torches are always handy but much cheaper buying them when a deal is posted here. Hmm, what else… they have a reasonable range of camping/outdoor stuff from picnic blankets through to eskys. Plastic storage containers perhaps?!

I've got it! They sell 'My Family' stickers plus they also sell Scissors & Cigarette Lighters… major satisfaction destroying a set of those for free :)

    • I got a tape measure with my last $10

    • +1

I bought one of these for $6 after my $10 Discount.
      http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Toolp…
Seems to be decent quality as my first MultiTool so far.
Funny enough after I bought it, it went on sale and I got ~$3 credit back. Now to find what I can by for another ~$13.

    • +1

get the silicon wipers, I tried them and haven't needed to replace them and that was a few years ago!

  • +1

    in store or online?

  • +1

I dont receive this offer from my email. I am from Melbourne

    • +1

also haven't received this email. Wonder if it's targeted randomly? (NSW)

      • +1

        I received mine too (Melbourne)

    • Finally got it in my email

  • +1

    Received in Perth :)

  • Would i make it if i apply for membership now?

  • +2

need replacement wipers for my toyota corolla 2005.. can anyone help me out please? i've never replaced them since lol!

    • +1

go to wiper section. there'll be a tridon book of makes and models. find your corresponding wiper blade size. remember to buy 2 wiper blades as they only sell them as singles ;)

      • thanks for that!

i went out to measure my wipers.. the drivers one is 24", passenger is 18" and the rear is 14" =)

        • Rear usually dont need replacing because you rarely uses it. Also a bit tricky to replace too.
Go to store and ask, they will show you the reference book. SCA makes their own refills which are quite cheap.

        • +2

          @Azn310:

oh trust me my rear need replacing.. it's like falling apart lol

will do just to make sure.. they have different widths too.. think mine are 8mm and 5/6mm or something

        • +2

also take note of what attachment types they are.

          http://www.wiperblades.co.uk/wiper-blades-explained/

        • @tdw:

thanks for that.. after reading through it.. i still have nfi what my corolla uses lol

        • +2

@CVonV: i was confused as well the first time after reading "how to change wiper" tutorials. it makes more sense when you're actually doing it.

the most common type of wiper attachment is a j-hook. easiest way to tell…..go to your car, lift a wiper off the windscreen, and rotate the wiper perpendicular to the wiper arm. it should loosely resemble a 'j' shape.

the regular tridon wiper blades come with a bunch of adapters in case yours isn't a j-hook

        • +1

@tdw: i think he just wants a refill, he doesnt want to replace the whole wiper arm

@CVonV: oh geez what have you done to your car, my 04 echo is still on original rear wiper.

          Heres tridon catalogue: http://www.tridon.com.au/pageBANK/documents/CAT078--Wiper-LR…

        • +1

@Azn310: that's his choice, but it's better to just replace the whole blade assembly…the refills offer mediocre wiping and it's just easier to unclip the old blade and slide in the new one than to fiddle with refills. Can't always cheap out with car stuff ;)

        • @Azn310:

thanks for that.. certainly does my head in.. but at least there's a table to show me which ones are compatible for my corolla

        • Depends. I replaced the entire blade once, and changed them back soon after because they left a lot of streaked water on the glass.

    • You can buy a 2 pack of replacement wiperblades for $10. Just slide out your current blades and slide the new ones in, or pay them 3 bucks to do it for you.

      • +1

Its not that hard, lol. $3 is alot of money and this bloke has been on Ozbargain for 8 years! So I'm sure he would know.

        • lolz yeah how hard can it be

      • +1

the SCA branded ones are apparently crap according to one reviewer. i think i'll stick to tridon.

        • Im pretty sure tridon makes SCA branded ones too, maybe that bloke didnt put it on correctly

        • +3

          @Azn310:

          hmmm

yeah well here is the review

These wiper blade refills are rubbish. Barely better then the old blades I replaced.

They leave random streaks even after I clean the blades manually.

I would've returned them if i hadn't thrown away my receipt. Either spend double the amount and buy brand-name blades or get them from the $2 shop and put up with dubious quality.

these silicone SCAs seem alright though

Look heaps better than plain old black ones. Used these blue ones twice now, and they do the job fine. If the glass is filthy they might squeak a bit, but nothing serious.

  • I received my email too (Adelaide)

    Love free SCA credit :)

  • Damn, i just forgot about the $10 from signing up last time and it expired.

    • +4

We ll add you to ozbargain's hall of shame :)

    • +2

umm doesn't it expire 31/10/2014? mine does

      • +1

Indeed. If it's the most recent one, it's not expired.

  • how do you get the $10?

    • It will magically appear on your loyalty credit section if you log in at 6pm on Tuesday (one guy here said you ll get it in the morning and it lasts the whole day)

      • Yeah, I'm pretty sure it will be valid all day, as there is no time mentioned, just the date.

  • Damn. I'll be at work. Fml.

    • +3

Don't you have a smart phone? Surely you will conveniently need to go to the toilet sometime between 6-8pm.

      • +1

Facepalms self. I thought it was in-store only. In that case, I can easily order online at work and pickup in store the next day :)

  • There's my car air fresheners sorted out. Well… ONLY if they are $1 each :)

  • +1

from my experience of the last "shopping event", the credit was made available in the morning before 6pm, and so i could use it in-store earlier or do a c&c

  • +6

For those dont know what to get, here are few things on my list (at full price):

    • sca reflective emergency triangle $15 (u know, the thing you dont have when you need it most)
    • fish oil spray $5 (to fight rusts)
    • pliers, or wrenches $10-12
    • lumbar support $15 (if you drive for a living, these are life savers)
    • blind spot mirror $4
    • wheel brace $10
    • sca hook and pick set (save you from swearing because your finger is too big to pull something out)
    • sca nut splitter (to get those rounded nuts out)
    • Some good items there I didn't think of, thanks Azn310!

  • Awesome!

Now to work out what to get
Preferably something I'm going to use

  • Anyone bought a phone holder from them? Recommendations?

    • +1

I reckon you'd find a universal phone holder cheaper on ebay/chinese websites

  • +1

Do people interpret this to mean that the deals available in the new catalog (starting 1st Oct), will be available to members on the night of the "member only shopping"?

    • +2

IIRC, thats what happened last time. They had the printed catalogue in store on the night as well.

    • +2

Even if they are not, in theory the difference should be credited to your card, though the only downfall there would be that you'd have a limited time to use it.

  • Will it be available in store? ( the store usually closes at 530PM)

    • +2

It is meant to be in-store, store close and open again at 6. Other members suggest can do click and collect online, I ll try that tomorrow

  • I didn't receive the email, or may be in spam and cleared, possibly unsubscribed. Is there anyway to resend the offer email?

    • hmm yeah this just occured to me.. i didn't get the email either.. and i've checked my spam

  • I don't see any $10 credited in my account today (30-sept).

I guess you cannot purchase online and collect it earlier today (before 6pm)

    • Damn….would have been handy to have it credited now…then I won't have to worry about going out later…

  • +1

Nearly everything I just looked at is out of stock..? including 7/8 items that I had in my cart

  • well i dont have credit in my account.

    • likewise mate what time will they put it into our accounts

      • +1

Between 6-8pm. Not sure if they will let you do online orders with the credit tho..

  • +2

Tip: Ring stores to hold items!!! And then pick up tonight!!!

    • Just did, thanks !

  • +1

not really sure what to buy but plan on heading to the store tonight, not often you get $20 for free to spend :)

  • +1

the credit has already showed up in 2 of my accounts :D

hmm, only showing up for the 2 accounts i've had forever. the other 2 i created during their free sign-up haven't got anything yet

    • +2

My account which I signed up with during the free signup hasn't shown the credit either

      • As well as I.
