If you cancel your plan early, fees may apply and any monthly phone credits will be forfeited.

Included Minutes: can be used for standard talk to Australian mobiles and landlines, 13/1300 numbers and voicemail retrievals all within Australia. The time you talk will be billed per minute on $35/$50 My Plan Plus/My Plan Business plans.

$60/$80/$100 plans: If you upgrade after 2 November, plans will include 2GB/3GB/5GB data.

Additional Data: If you go over your plan's included shared data you'll automatically get extra for $10 per 1GB (charges appear on the mobile service). If you use more than 60GB on one account we may continue to charge you at the same rates or restrict your data use for the remainder of your billing month.

Data Sharing: You need a mobile connected to a My Plan Plus/My Plan Business (including SIM Only) plan to get a Shared Data Plan, connected on the same account. There is no included data in the Shared Data Plan; the mobile broadband devices use the included sharable data from these mobile plans. If your mobile plan is cancelled, your Shared Data Plan may also be cancelled, or you will be charged $10 per 1GB data within Australia. If your Shared Data Plan is cancelled you'll just need to pay the remainder of your device repayments (if any) plus any outstanding charges. • holy-moley that's quite a deal!
Seems better than the virgin deal if you're going via quantities.

    • -6

      It's a helluva long wall o'text too!

What I want to know is; is there any way to score the free PS4 without following through with a purchase?

    • How so?

      • The deal that russta linked to lists what appears to be this deal along with Telstra, Sony and Virgin also offering it.

As listed in that comments section, the Sony website seems to say that Optus only has 100 available. The Sony website then links to the same link provided in this deal: http://www.sony.com.au/microsite/xperia-z3/index.html

It would be a great deal if every pre-order receives a PS4. But you might want to have caution before diving in because this might be almost a competition.

        • Except one is a competition, and one is for the first 100. Different T&C

    • -2

not a dupe. Perhaps you should check the dupe exceptions

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:deal_posting_guidelin…

The original deal is a list of multiple items and the item is not contained in the title of the original deal. Related forum discussion

      • But isn't the item in the original deal and this deal the PS4? The PS4 is in the title of the original deal. The only difference in titles is that yours mentions Optus, which the original didn't because it provided the other 3 outlets that are also providing this offer.

So everyone who orders before the 6th gets a Sony PlayStation 4? So if thousands order, thousands of PS4's and not just 100?

Even with a PlayStation 4, this doesn't seem like such a great deal for a low caller like me. At $73 a month you get 2.5GB data, unlimited calls, Sony Xperia Z3 and a PlayStation 4 for a total of $1752.

Virgin using the same network is $65 a month for 4GB data, $700 of calls and Sony Xperia Z3 for a total of $1560.

With Optus the PlayStation 4 costs just an extra $192 but you also lose 1.5GB of data a month for a total of 36GB of data over 2 years. Quite a lot of YouTube and music I could be streaming. But then again, if you chat a lot over the phone and don't download much, maybe unlimited calls is better.

  • Is there anyway one can get the $200 early exit fee credit being on a month to month plan :P???

    • Unfortunately not. Optus requires your account number when claiming and they will double check to ensure you were under a contract with cancellation fees remaining

  • Ordered, spoke to chat they advise it will be included. Made sure to screen grab the conversation

  • $1,056 for a Z3 and a PS4. You'll need to sign up to the $73/month plan, then cancel the contract immediately, pay the maximum cancellation fee ($504) and the handset fee ($23*24=552).

    • Would that work?

      • read the T&C's

        • Thinking about it though, I am currently paying $39.50 a month with Virgin for 2.5GB and $600 minutes of calls, after 24 months that will cost $948.

If I actually did this deal, over 24 months I've paid $2004. Which is more than just keeping to the Optus contract right? So if I use those 2 devices I'm better off sticking to the contract.

        • +1

          @FabMan:

The $1,056 deal is not for everyone. It makes sense to go on a plan if your usage is relatively high. But some may see value in getting a PS4 and Z3 together without signing up to a plan.

    • I think the handset cost would be 28x24. There's a credit u get which made it 23 which you don't get when you cancel.

  • So order phone, sell PS4 and then end up with free phone? I've actually been considering a Z3 compact.

  • And I just got on contract with VF. sigh

    • could pull the "30 day im not happy with the network?"

      or kick yourself =]

      • I'm already two months in, so I'll just have to settle for kicking myself.

  • +1

So I've done the numbers and I still wouldn't benefit from this deal,

I'm with Live Connected, costing me $20 per month for 1.5Gb Data and $500 worth of calls, I own my phone so no handset repayments

If I get a plan with Optus over the 2 years that will cost me $1392 compared to $480 (Live Connected)

Remove the total RRP for the free PS4 and that's $843 over 2 years

I'm hardpressed to think this is worth it hmm

    • +1

Best deal would be to order from Sony directly, however…. their promotion is a competition so not 100% will get the ps4.

    • +4

I think you forgot to factor in the new Xperia X3.

      • true! how much are they rrp?

    • Yeah, I think my current phone will be the last one I'll ever buy on a plan. If the Sony store deal was for a PS4, not just a chance of one, I'd be seriously considering it. I don't like the random chance type idea. I'm no gambler.

That LiveConnected sounds pretty good. Their website is toast though. Seems like every link I checked redirected to somewhere else, and wrong.

      • The plan I'm on is grandfathered so it's not available anymore, it used to be $11.95 but went up abit but still comes with same great value, I think my iPhone 4s has a few more years in it

  • Just placed on order for Black Copper one.Hopefully will get the PS4 as well.

  • Bonus ps4 with compact version too apparently

  • Okay guys, can I get some feedback on this idea.

I pre-order with Virgin first thing in the morning of the 3rd or whenever they open the lines and I also pre-order with Optus as well. If Virgin says I'm one of the lucky winners I cancel with Optus but if Virgin doesn't announce I'm a winner I cancel with Virgin and stick with Optus.

Would that work or will I be stuck with 2 contracts?

Be one of the first 100 to Pre-Order an Xperia Z3 or Z3 Compact & you’ll receive a free PS4!

  • How do optus find out if you are being charged for early exit or not?

    • They will check your account number with the other carrier

  • Is it possible to port your number twice? As in sign up with any number, and then port your real number later.

Because I want to keep my existing contract, until it's expired.

    • same here

    • You want to keep your current contract with Provider A, but sign up with another number for this deal and then once your contract with Provider A is up, swap your number that you signed up to this deal with for your Provider A number?

Only way to do something similar would be to sign up to this deal with the other number now on the lowest cost plan you can, then when you port your real number over later on, choose the plan that you need, swap the sim cards over and pay out 2 contracts!

Or take advantage of Optus paying towards your early exit fee for transfer.

      • So they can actually port twice? I thought I can only port once…

Isn't what Optus do now is false advertising?
Aren't they had enough punishment for false advertising already?

  • I don't like the odds here if theres a limit for 100,

Optus Twitter page suggests the same as well

  • wonder if we could purchase the phone outright and get a chance to get a ps4

  • I just ordered a compact. It clearly says on the product page get a free PS4 with the order so I'm expecting one!

  • Guys I realise Sony and on twitter Optus are saying there is only 100 units.

However the main webpage does not mention the 100 limit anyway. You could argue and probably win that you signed up for the offer with a Bonus Ps4. I think Optus would be liable to honor the advertised deal.

    • But that's still a risk. It's worth at least posting a note in the deal to say that Sony and especially the Optus twitter have said there's a limit of 100. Just for the people who don't think to scroll through all the comments.

      • OK done..

    • I confirmed with a Chat session and took a screen shot.

  • you can get discount -$10/month if you have Optus broadband .
    I have signed up a deal $80/m x 24 mths - 5 Gs data ( share sims ) , got -$10 less /month .
Only pay $70/M for the deal . Not bad ;)

Hi! You are now chatting with xxxxxx
:Hi, this is xxxxx, your Optus Sales Consultant, how can I help?
    You:Hi
    You:how are you ?
    xxxxx:Hello . I am good . How are you ?
    You:Regarding Sony Xperiea Z3 or Z3 compact
    You:ya good
    You:with PS4 offer
You:i would like to go with this online offer
    You:how do i ensure that i get the PS4
xxxxx:I am afraid . Ps4 offer on Sony Xperia z3 is no more available. Its a limited period offer.
    You:are your sure
    You:it gone ?
    You:thanks then
    xxxxx:Yes. The offer is expired.
    You:Thank you
Flynn:Thank you . Is there anything else , I can help you with ?

    • +1

      Flynn is xxxxx?

      • +2

Just don't call him Walt Jr.

    • Well, is there anything else Flynn can help you with?

      • oops…i lost an edit option….

  • I just ordered this and got a PlayStation 4 confirmed by 'Chat Me Up' with the $80 a month, at $73 it wasn't worth it to me. But with double the data for an extra $7 a month it really is. I work night shifts and they get really boring sometimes, a super phone with a lot of data can make those hours fly.

If I could guarantee the PlayStation 4 with Virgin Mobile at $65 a month with 4GB data it would have been a better deal, but no guarantees I'd get the PS4.

    -Edit-

Thanks OP, really great deal you showed me. Glad it wasn't removed as a dupe.

    -Edit 2-

Considering selling my phone when it arrives and buying the HTC One M8.

    • Not sure why you got negged, but can I ask why you prefer the M8 over the X3?

I'm a big fan of the M8 and have been considering pulling the trigger, but the new Sony seems better in every respect, especially the camera.

      • +1

Oh it is a better phone, but I prefer the look of HTC One M8, I really like the Sense UI as I use Blinkfeed a lot and I like supporting the little fellas too. I mean it is still same size screen resolution and chipset, I could probably be $50 better off too, if HTC One M8 drops in price before I get to open the Sony I will do it.

  • +1

    Expired
Optus twitter :Whoosh! The PS4's are gone! All our bundle offers have sold out but you can still Pre-order the awesome Sony Z3: http://yesopt.us/z3 #YES

    • +2

even though the website still advertises the ps4.

  • How can you confirm if you got the bundle or not? I just spent 40 minutes on hold o_O

    • I think i was in the 100 but im just going to confirm and see what happens let me know if you find out

  • I think Optus will cop some angry customers as its still on their web site

    • accoding to their google plus they sold out at 9:30am! I am sitting on hold trying to get this sorted out but their phones are being slaughtered.

      • Seriously? I ordered mine a bit later and i'm trying to find out as well >.>

      • If you look at the google+ post. Actual post for the offer was at 09:36 am & it was edited to be updated around 1:11pm (Check by holding mouse arrow at the time of post).

So i believe anyone ordered before noon or 12:30pm today probably got the PS4.

        • With anyone that has had it confirmed is it mentioned in your order at all?

        • My order is at 12:54 :S i was told beforehand by sales there were a couple left. Trying to contact customer service atm >.> been on hold for 30 min haven't even talked to anyone yet

        • It doesn't say in the order confirmation.
I placed it around 11:30 am & chatted to someone around 1:15 & he said to me that you have got it.
Another one said that Optus will call probably tomorrow to confirm the order & PS4.
So wait until 24 Hrs before doing anything.
          Just need to keep patience.

        • @sonny08: Kinda annoyed but hopefully i am part of it

        • @sonny08: optus twittered me to say they will notify me of I have received it shortly so I assume everyone will be getting a text or email.

        • @Lions44:

I dont understand the delay. I mean they are now telling us they are out of bonus packs then they should be able to tell us who got one or not?

Unless they are doing a dick smith and letting staff jump queue and claim one..

        • @Dangit:

My order was at 12:14. After many hours of messing around on the phone to Optus this morning, I have found out that I have missed out on the PS4.

          Order cancelled.
For the best I guess, means I don't have to deal with a company that can't get their act together.

        • @Melthar: I've been transferred various times which department did they tell you to contact because I still havent found out if i got it or not. I'm currently being transferred as we speak

  • for anybody who missed out looks like the sony xperia z3 compact has bonus with ps4 still available now.http://www.optus.com.au/shop/mobile/phones/sony/xperia-z3-compact

  • Has anyone got the ps4 confirmed? Because I haven't been sent any details yet

    • I chatted with someone on Optus website & rep confirmed with my order number that i got the PS4.
My order was at 11:30am yesterday.I printed out a copy of chat for record.

  • Hopefully i got mine! i ordered mine at 12:28pm yesterday and it was mentioned in the facebook page of optus that if anyone who ordered before the post that mentioned the ps4 was sold out which was at 12:57pm then you should be fine.

    • +1

My order was at 12:14. I called this morning and was told, no, I didn't get the PS4. Hence have cancelled my order.

      • Damm. If so then i'll cancel my order too

  • Just received a SMS from Optus to say Order has been delayed and they will send an SMS when they are back on track :(

  • +1

So I was on a call with optus after being pushed around and they said I got into the promotion but still haven't sent me any information regarding it. For those people who did pre order the phone please give 1300 300 562 a call they will know if you got it or not :D

    • what time did you place your order? I submitted mine at about 10:45am . Is the call centre closed now?

    • yeah i called them at around 3 and the representative said she'll get back to me. She hasn't called me since. I'll try again

      • I was webchatting to a rep earlier in the day and he indicated that anyone who ordered before 12pm that way would've received a PS4.

        Haven't actually confirmed this however…

        • I ordered mine slightly after 12 but supposedly i got in but who knows no confirmation yet. Also my friend who ordered about 30 minutes after and he got it so hopefully tomorrow i can get it confirmed

        • @Dangit: I just called and bloke said they don't know whether i have recieved it or not and he said they finalise their process till the 9th of October and thats when you find out. And the 9th of October is when you recieve the phone. So basically for those who recieve the ps4 on the day with the phone are obviously the ones that made it. In the end i decided to cancel my order. So frustrated with this deal, everytime i called, each operator did not give me an exact confirmation into whether i have recieived it or not.

        • @Davo3813: Wow seriously? I will call again to see what the hell is happening

        • I got it, confirmed by these guys: 1300 300 562

In addition, the rep also mentioned that the PS4 will be delivered several days after the Z3/Z3C has been delivered.

        • @donnytuco: what time was your order?

        • @Dangit:

          11:30AM

        • @donnytuco: guy i talked to said he'll give me a call on monday :S I still haven't got a proper confirmation

  • finally confirmed!!. I ordered at 10:45am and the lady on the phone said you will receive the ps4 about 7-8 bussiness days after you activate your service. 1300 929 949 is the phone number.

  • let me just clear this up for everyone, anyone who has ordered before 12.15pm on that day will receive a ps4
anyone who has ordered past this time will not receive one :)

    • You know this how?

  • Hey all - congrats to all that got the free PS4 with the z3 through Optus. Did anyone get a free PS4 by pre-ordering through Sony?

  • Has anybody received a confirmation yet?

  • Has anyone who pre-ordered received their z3 yet? Because I have yet to receive mine and they said delivery was suppose to be today when I ordered.

    • Mine is apparently being delivered tomorrow according to the Optus Rep

      • Yea i just called :S It was meant to be delivered today… god damn star track

        • whats your tracking say on optus site?

        • @brando12: Phone is ready to activate but still haven't got it, currently calling optus because i am very annoyed atm they hung up on me and didnt call back >.> 35 minutes in the line and still waiting.
