Does this work for AU or just US stores?

and use this http://www.qwibble.com.au/skype to get 20% off, potentially up to 44% off. Haven't used them before though.

    • Likely to have your qwibble cashback rejected if you use the voucher. From Qwibble:

Please note that Members should only use voucher codes listed on Qwibble. If you use voucher codes or gift vouchers that are not listed on Qwibble your cashback may not track or may be declined.

  • Anyone used Qwibble link to get 20% cashback? Did they pay?

If there is a $30 amount, is it USD or AUD? Wonder what the exchange rate for that is with Skype, or better to just buy USD and pay the fees also with Oz-based CC.

So A$30 would be ~$21 then 20% back on that would be $4.20 to total $16.80, almost half price. Not bad.

How does Skype minutes compare with calling card?

Only thing is gotta use wifi/3G data and can't just ring from a normal phone like you can with a calling card. Though Skype has the advantage of being portable/mobile.

    • Actually, Skype To Go enables you to call from a fixed line or mobile, and charge the call to your Skype account.

You pre-set up Skype to assign you a local number that connects you to the actual number you want to call, e.g. calling 0244556677 assigned by Skype connects you to +4488565425478 in the UK.

Works better than a calling card, as there is no need to go through voice prompts, and enter a long string of numbers.

I have been using it for a few years now. Happy with the service.

can I use my existing skype credit to pay for this ? :P

  • even with their 30% off, their rate is the same as that of Rebtel normal rate to Vietnam, and Rebtel has local access number that you can use to call with your normal phone, don't have to use 3G data if you don't want to. Skype is a rip off.

    • Yeah but their service is very popular and the call quality is generally very good. Never heard of Rebtel.

      • never get a delay voice when using Rebtel. I hear people as clear as using my mobile to directly call people. So yeah, Rebtel is not bad and might save you $ if u care to do some research and give it a shot. Anyway, thought might want to let people know there's also an everyday "30% off Skype" rate out there that is just as good.

        • Skype To Go is a service similar to Rebtel.

I believe Rebtel had the local number to destination number mapping feature first, and soon after Skype matched it with Skype To Go. Skype hasn't marketed it very well, though. It is a very little known service.

Skype To Go transmits over ordinary phone lines. Quality is as good/bad as your usual phone line. In my experience, voice quality is better than using Skype on PCs.

    • you use it to buy their subscriptions, their subscriptions are more value for money, the 600 mins 12 month subscriptions calculates to just less than $0.01 per min.

  • Really shi%s me how Skype (i.e Microsoft) locks your account now as soon as you apply any credit and make your 1st call !!! 8 of us in different countries lost our accounts… all our contacts. world subscriptions and credit, and the WORST Nazi Customer service team ever the never tell any of us why its locked out, they wont unlock them even if you give them the right information and answer a myriad of stupid questions like, who are your last 5 calls, 3 of your contacts, when you loaded credit, what type of transaction was it, last 4 digits, when was your last call, what did you eat that day, what underwear were you wearing that day !
They just direct you the their policy page, and thats many pages long, they couldn't even tell me wht section we breached !!
Never seen anything like it , PC's have valid licenses no illegal software installed. The Gift card Vouchers are i bought from Coles…
IT gets worse, we formatted the PC, reset the routers, and opened another account they STILL got locked out !!! WE all had to use new PC's and new accounts ! So over Skype now !

The reason would probably be because you shared your account details with someone and the account was used from multiple locations at the same time. Happened to me as well.

      • so can i use this in multiple locations (not at the same time)? i am thinking of using this while on overseas holiday to call back to australia. obviously i would like to keep using the credit when i am back in sydney.

        would this be an issue?

        • I think that's all right.

Be sure to look up the 50% off deal at the moment.

        • You'll alright.

  • if you stock up on skype gift cards when they're 50% off, for most places its the cheapest around

  • Just bought $20 cheers!
