Sony SRS-BTV5 Black - Bluetooth/NFC Portable Speaker @ JBHIFI - $29 Pick up

320

JB Hifi is selling the tennis ball sized speaker by Sony in black for $29. Not as cheap as the deal for the white from DS a while ago, but the cheapest it's been for a while.

Good for pick up but shipping kills it.

Currently selling anywhere from $39 to $79 elsewhere.

Edit: Other colours may be available in store.

I picked a white one up in the $25 DSE sale, they are excellent vfm and still work even after being chewed up by a dog within moments of first usage. (Seriously, I was working on the outside of my house listening to a football match and my Husky picked it up and chewed it up for five minutes before I realized)

Android auto correct + Google swipe keyboard, one of them must be set to US. Then again who cares? For instance if I was to be anal like yourself I could point out that you failed to capitalise English, Australian or United States.

    • Hah classic! They do look a little like one of those large Kong dog toys don't they!

  • How's the audio clarity and battery life like?

in relation to where's_that_cake's post above.. audio clarity can be a little husky sometimes.

        Obviously needed an extra woofer

          Obviously needed an extra woofer

trying to add an extra woofer seemed to do more damage than good

    • I own one, bought from DSE hourly deals previously. Basically, it sounded ok, play music fine but don't expect a performance like Bose minisound link. It comes with mic built-in which is pretty good for calls but sometimes the other person on the phone had a hard time catching up. Battery are ok too, lasted quite a bit, though I didn't count the time but overall, good for just casual music listening or gift.

I mainly use it for listening to podcasts, like you said it isn't anything you want to have as your main audio player.

      • Any better than the built in speakers on phones?

        • Yes, louder with a fair bit more bass.

  • Battery is very good and hold charge for weeks!

  • Note: only the black ones are $29 in store. The pink ones are still $77.

    • bought one tonght.. the black, blue and pink were all $29 @ JB HIfi Parra.

  • can't get mine to pair with my iphone 5s.. my phone doesn't even detect the speakers… anyone got a fix?

    • Did you have it in pairing mode? Hold the switch to the power side until you hear the double beep and get the blue light flashing quickly.

The speaker is fantastic with Android/NFC. It automatically pairs once you place the phone over the speaker.

  • Why are all these speakers now going on sale after I've just bought one!

How's this compared to Logitech Mobile boombox?

I bought it from Myer deal couple days ago.

  • Great sound for a small speaker. I got the last one in JB west lakes they were flying out the door the guy said.
Normal price was $77. NFC was a nice touch

Thanks heaps brawndo, I got 2, 1 for me & 1 as a present for my brother.
I tried it over the weekend, not bad at all, was almost tempted to get another 1, but there now back to $77 :(

I got mine at HN, I made a mistake in thinking it was this price there, when I checked/asked about it the guy checked online on this site (as I couldn't recall which store), then JB's and without me asking checked there/HN price (mumbled about cost price) and then price match it.

So not all HN staff/stores are bad.
Now I just need a phone with NFC., but I had no trouble pairing it with my old Sony android phone.

Can someone please mark this deal as expired please.
