1/2 Price Skype Cards @ Woolworths, Coles & BIG W (Starts 8/10)

1100

Seems everyone is selling these at half price this week. Unity 1 asked me to post/combine the BIG W one as well, but not sure when that starts as I don't have access to a catalogue. Thanks.

  • Wasn't this an up and go thread before? What happened to it?

Another member posted the Up and Go deal about the same time, and this deal was changed to another bargain.

If multiple retailers have the same offer then it has got nothing to do with competition between the retailers.
The discount is given and carried by the issuer Skype.

Is it because no one buys them?

  • My partner set up her account in the UK. Can she buy credit here in Aus and apply it to her account there?

    • I believed you can.

      Base on https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA12039/what-are-prepaid-ca…
      it says
"Prepaid cards are currently sold in the USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand and Mexico, and you can choose to buy one of the following:

      USA

12 months Unlimited US and Canada Subscription
3 months Skype Premium (including Unlimited US and Canada)
      $10 and $25 Skype Credit
      UK

      £10 and £20 Skype Credit
      Australia

      A$10 and A$25 Skype Credit
      New Zealand

US$7.50 Skype Credit (local price NZ$10) and US$18.50 Skype Credit (local price NZ$25)
      "

    • Yes she can, I've done it before but you get slogged with Skype's conversion rate.

great. i loaded like AUD 6.00 last time when i was in japan. the credits last forever, now after i made at least 10 quick international calls, i still got like 4 bucks left. Gotta load another $10 or $20 this time. I believe the credits don't expire???

  • Excellent, thanks again TA!

Don't forget Officeworks have these cards. You know what to do.

    • tried to price match at Officeworks Joondalup and staff checked with their manager and said they couldn't figure out how to price match in the system with a voucher! Sigh. They scanned up at 40% off.. I went and bought at woolies.

  • I will be over in america for a month. What should I get to ensure I can contact back over here when I need to? Am a little unfamiliar with the skype plans and stuff.

  • Ah dammit, i just bought some credit yesterday. I guess ill get some more.

  • Can I use this credit to by subscription to Italy? Or is the 5 countries mentioned above?

    • +1

You can use skype credit to buy any skype service. That is what it is for. These cards load credit on to your account in the same manner that paying by credit or debit card does. At the moment the rules state that credit does not expire as long as you make a call or text using your credit ,not including any subscription, once every 180 days. Then credit becomes inactive and then you have time to reactivate it from your account page online.

Short answer, yes you can use skype credit loaded from these cards to buy a subscription to any one of 50 countries offered by skype including Italy.

      • Thanks. Went and got it and got the subscription as well.

The cards are good for 12 months, so you don't need to add it to skype straight away

  • Did anyone get the fuel savings voucher with their purchase? Wondering whether they put it through as a gift card purchase or a normal one.

    • I got a fuel voucher on my woolies receipt, if that's what you mean?

      • Thank you, that's exactly what I meant.

  • I just met the guy who has most probably bought all skype cards from woolies stores in the west suburbs of melbourne (i checked at three stores, Watervale (gone), St Albans (gone) and Sunshine market place (gone)). He was stopped at the new woolies opposite market place. An unknowing cashier had scanned through around $900, or more, worth of cards in separate transactions, before the duty manager decided 'F this, i ain't letting this greedy person scalp 'em.' And just like one hero, he stopped the rampage. So anyone around the sunshine area still looking for the rare skype cards, try the store opposite market place tomorrow morning. I am certain this dude will come back tomorrow to complete his streak. Which makes me feel hollow and sad deep inside. But well, thats the west, a big scam most of the time.

  • I have been to Coles in Glenroy VIC, apparently they are out of stock. The sales guy who served was not even sure of if these cards exists, did his best to go around the store for hunt said probably sold out.

Does anyone know where can i get them around in Northern suburbs.
