Bargain! Air New Zealand today announced a $600-off code for business flights to North America. I tried this code for their economy fares, and bingo, it works for San Francisco!! Plenty of seats across different dates.

Test dates I used for these fares for all 3 departure points:

Depart Nov 18 2014, Return Dec 5 2014.

All flights include 23kg checked baggage, 7kg carry-on bag, meal & drinks, on-demand entertainment.

For Travel:
17 Nov to 16 Dec 2014
23 Dec to 31 Dec 2014
12 Jan to 15 Mar 2015

Sale ends 24th Oct 2014. Happy travels :)

Wow this is a bargain. I don't think Jetstar would even partially refund my startfare flight to NZ though. Should I just forfeit this and go to SF? Damn!!

    • +6

Do both. go for 2 holidays!

      • Great advice. Will see what my missus says..

  • wow….wonder how long till they catch this one..
Makes it just as cheap as last weeks deal but SFO instead of LAX

Cheers carwashhair. Tested for Melbourne and comes up as $895. Updated title of post.

If the code isnt correct for the fare, you might find AirNZ invalidates the bookings or charges you more.

I hope they dont but given other "code error" deals here like ezibuy just dont be surprised.

Wishing you luck, and to the brave go the spoils…

    • If they invalidate then no loss. I don't believe they could increase the charges without your consenting to a higher price.

    • +2

I'd be more worried about the cold in San Francisco Bay….

    • +11

I wasnt down voting the deal. Just alerting people to a possibility.

I know some will not agree that this possibility might exist, but down voting the comment takes away an alert that might be important for some.

I am not against the deal, if I could afford to do the trip I would go for it.

It's not like missing out on your free underwear if it gets cancelled, its all the associated issues with holiday bookings that can be affected. These are risks you need to consider.

How about voting down this comment to show displeasure rather than the warning.

      • How about voting down this comment to show displeasure rather than the warning.

I'm pretty sure someone did just that…

  • wow now im regretting booking flights to SEA for my holidays.

    • looks like it works for SEA too, just slightly over 1000$

I believe he meant south-east Asia and you meant Seattle

  • Not sure what I am doing wrong or am I reading this wrong?

Is this one way 860 or return 860 ? when ever I enter any return dates it comes out to like 2.1K?

    • It's return, as it's clearly stated in the title. Did you apply the code?? (BIZ600)

      • Yeah… not sure what's going on TBH.

        • Just ran it again. Still plenty of fares at this price:

          @tightarse:

I believe ya, I'm just not getting those prices, but you do realise that outbound + inbound = 1600-1700? even at 860ish rate.

        • @Duram:
Ah? What are you on about Duram? The $845 in the screenshot is the total fare. You don't double it.

        • +2

@Duram: Those $860ish fares that were screen captured is inbound and outbound combined, not each way.

    • I'm also getting flights in this range (with promo code applied), but the dates I want are december.

The latest outbound date for the deal flights seems to be nov 22.

      • Lukian, give me the dates you want and I'll look them up. Are you following the travel dates in the post? The ones you want may not be available. Have you tried 2015?

        • +1

I've checked most of the range, the ideal dates seem to be:
          Outbound: Nov 18-22
          Return: Dec 3-5

    • Me too was applying the code & getting what looked like normal fares

damn this is such a sweet deal, would be perfect for me but unfortunately I am traveling to USA between 17th-23rd March for about 2-4 weeks, damn =(, if anyone knows of any other deals, I'll forever be grateful =D

  • Has anyone found a cheap flight on either deal during these dates? 23 Dec to 31 Dec 2014

  • Getting a Service Unavailable error on the fare search engine at Air New Zealand at 11:43AM.

    • Oh it's up again!

      • If you open two tabs, or leave a session idle that will happen.

  • Is this fare, fully refundable?

    • The flexi rank is (more expensive), just continue to the second page of booking to see the options.

    • As long as you upgrade to the Economy Flexi up from the Economy Saver.

Price difference between the two options for example are $400 -> $1200

    • No. $500 cancelation fee I believe

  • it seems the deals in Feb are for 3 flight segments.

    mel - akl
    akl - lax
    lax - sfo

i wonder if you can just skip the last flight and go to LA

    • you'll forfeit your return fare if you do.

      • Where is that explicitly stated? :>

        • +4

          from conditions of carriage:

          3.3 COUPON SEQUENCE AND USE
3.3.1 The Ticket will not be honoured and will lose its validity if all the Coupons are not used in the sequence provided in the Ticket.
3.3.2 The Ticket may not be valid and we may not honour the Ticket if the first Flight Coupon, or in the case of an Electronic Ticket, an Electronic Coupon has not been used and the passenger commences his or her journey at any Stopover or Agreed Stopping Place.

          http://www.airnewzealand.com.au/article-3-tickets

It's a pretty standard clause for most airlines - they see it as an abandonment of journey and will cancel the ticket and all onward travel.

        • Thanks!

        • +2

@carwashhair: The logic behind it is a bit silly though. They have their money already, does it matter if you skip a flight?

        • +3

          @Bunnyburger:

Well yes, but then commercial airlines have some pretty fuzzy logic. Reminds me of the joke: How do you become a millionaire?

Start with a Billion dollars and buy an airline…

        • Is there any penalty for not using the return leg? These deals are great and all but I'm looking for one way.

        • @MissKitty: I'm sure they'll just cancel the return flight if you don't show up. Well if this was a Tiger flight anyway…

    • The rest of your fare vill be null and void if you forfeit the final sector

  • Good prices but holding out for sales for flights in May 2015.

    • I hear ya, I'm holding out until I can afford a bloody holiday, haha. Let's hope Air NZ keeps pumping out these great deals.

  • +1

Thanks for the deal. I book my trip from Sydney to NY for $1230. I hope they will not cancel my booking.

    • Hey out of interest what dates did you put in? I am thinking of traveling on the 2nd of Feb and the lowest is around $1600 which is the same as Qantas who I have a FF status with…

      • I booked 8 Feb and return on 15 Feb.

  • Original link should probably point to: http://www.airnewzealand.com.au/north-america-on-sale ?

  • +1

    Oh man!

Booked my trip in Feb to SF for $860!
    Thanks heaps.

  • Don't think it works any more.

Tried the code with dates Nov 22 to Dec 12.

    • +2

It works. Not all dates are available at these prices.

      • Nothing from 18-26 Nov returning 10-23 Dec.

So either they've fixed their code or they've run out of flights on deal.

        • +1

It works. Not all dates are available at these prices.

  • Wish I had some spare cash to afford this :(

  • EDIT - March had no dates, found some for FEB though just now.

  • so tempting to book ; waiting on the mrs to approve

got a free frequent flyer upgrade to business from bne -> akl noice!

    • Qantas has return flights for ~$1250

So good deal, but mostly in Feb. I think in Dec its Sold out.

I am waiting for deal to Canada. When is it ???

  • +1

    this is really cheap !

  • how do you get to vegas for an extra $50 ?

    • +6

      By booking it?

    • +1

Change destination from SF to LV.

      • +3

        This guy knows some maneuvers.

  • Cheap but over 28 hrs each way. Going skiing in Colorado Feb via probably Vegas, not sure if I want to spend the extra couple of hundred on another airline to save me 14 hrs on a plane.

    • +2

Probably cost you less overall if you skip Vegas :)

  • +1

Can New Zealand Airways claim that it was an invalid coupon then cancel tickets?

  • +11

By far my worst every ozbargain impulse buy, but so damn excited!

  • +2

Ozbargain meetup on the plane? :P

  • The lowest I've been getting for 12 Jan to 15 Mar 2015 period is $1350.

  • +1

Anything for travel after mid-March 2015? Please. :)

  • +1

If you book Mel - San Fran in 13 Feb to 1 Mar, it comes out at $874 using the promo code BIZ600.

However, I think you guys might get your tickets cancelled. On their website, that promo code is for BUSINESS CLASS flights. There is a separate promo code for economy class flights, which is NAM300. And with this code, you get $300 off.

So worst case scenario, is they maybe will give you a choice of cancelling or pay an extra $300, which is still very cheap.

Best case scenario, they accept their system stuff up for not doing proper validity checks, and you get that price ;)

Either way, the only dates I could travel were the December ones, and there's no more discounts for travel on 23rd to 31st :(

Edit: Their T&C's of the offer don't talk about their right to cancel a sale once completed, so if you book in, you may have a good chance of keeping the lower price with the BIZ600. Though technically, using that for economy is against their T&C's. So don't book accommodation until you know your ticket isn't cancelled.

    • Is it really that cheap with only $300 off? $600 off seems very good but $1150 to san fran doesn't seem THAT great..
