  • For the SpiderPro, you're looking at ~US$135 delivered… it seems a little expensive for a camera holster… but might be worth it for some that spend a crazy amount of time taking photos.

    • Delivery is USD$52 bringing a total to USD160 for the basic 1 camera system.

  • I love my dual spider holster… no more sore neck from having 2 cameras weighing me down all day..

  • Whats the point of posting these things when the bargain price item is sold out. $55 for the holster and strap was a good deal but they were sold out.

Ill just wait for the chinese to copy it and buy it for $10

      Let's say I have $10k worth of gear on me, 2 bodies, 2 lenses… Would I trust a $10 chinese made 'copy'?

      • depends on how good the $10 copy is! i suspect a lot of the cost covers patents and/or R&D, which a cc won't have

i was thinking of buying this until your $10k gear put my situation into perspective.. a $700 nex3.. hmm.. maybe i'll hold out for that $10 copy!

        • +2

Yes, it is all about perspective.. Much like I wouldn't put a $5k body on a $50 slik tripod from jb :)

For a nex3 tho, you're probably better off with the included neckstrap.

        • Unless you are a Chinese tourist or a 65yo man wearing a bum bag, you shouldn't use a neck strap.

      • Good point.

  • Just tried for SpiderPro Black Widow (RRP $49.99 (no shipping added yet) )> Does not work - "Order subtotal does not meet the minimum of $65.00 for this coupon code." Please update the post to reflect the minimum.

  • I'm not a fan of this spider holster - prefer the rapidstrap/q-straps out there. Downside of the Spider:
    1. The camera is not wrapped around your shoulder/neck - if you drop it, it lands on the ground.
    2. It's still not as quick as a Rapidstrap from pick up to shoot (in my single camera experience, can't say for double camera)
    3. Fixed position is both a pro (no need to stop it from swinging it around) and a con (may prevent you from squatting/sitting/getting into position).

    • I tried one, hated it. Aside from looking like some homoerotic six-shooter holster, it was just uncomfortable, the massive plate needed to constantly be removed/reinstalled, and it was just clunky to use. Got a CaptureOne Pro and it's a dream compared to the Spider.

(I also absolutely loathed my Rapidstrap. Ended up giving it to some random girl on the ferry who saw me about to throw it into the bay).

      • What's a capture one pro? I googled it and it came back as photo editing software!

      • Can you please link to the CaptureOne Pro? Google is only giving me software hits.

I use a Cotton Carrier and it isn't so easy to find the holster if you're not looking down for it. Also the button that is screwed into the tripod mount may loosen so now I make sure I tighten it up prior to any shooting sessions. Hasn't come loose since.

I would prefer the plate on the Spider as it looks like it will be fine being left permanently on. It's just that the pin will protrude quite a bit if there is no allowance in your camera bag. The separate lock to leave the catch open is also a good thing for speedy release of the camera. Just have to be careful to lock it back for any body movements that might cause the camera to pop out of the holster.

If I didn't have the Cotton Carrier, I would consider the Spider and the R-strap.

        • Heh. I'm retarded - I have Capture One on the brain, because I've been fighting that stupid POS all morning.

          It's just a Capture Pro
          https://peakdesign.com/store/capturepro

The plate is Arca and/or RC2 (manfrotto) compatible, so you can slide it on/off tripods/mounts/etc with no messing around. Plus the d-ring in it will connect to a rapidstrap. And if you get desperate, the clip itself has a tripod thread on it so you can rig up as a ghetto tripod/monopod head. Really. the biggest benefit is that it's versatile as hell. Chuck it on your belt, or your camera bag, or the strap of your manbag/satchel/hiking pack.

The wrist strap it came with is useless. I can't even get my hand through it. WTF, either I have freakish hands or someone messed up. The sling strap is okay, but a bit lightweight. Don't really use it.

I replaced my Blackrapid rs4 with an Upstrap Pro. It does the job, even with heavier gear (some body/lens combos I use for walkaround hit ~5kg), but it's a bit awkward like all nect straps. Depending on the new Slide/Clutch from Peak Design, I might dump it on ebay.

Pretty good deal for something that
    a) holds your camera
    b) protects your virginity
