3.5mm Smart Click Button for Android 4.0 $0.91 Free Shipping @ TinyDeal

These buttons are really handy if you don't use your audio jack too often.
Basically, you install an app and you can configure the button to do practically anything.
And if nothing else, they are useful for stopping dirt getting in the audio jack.

Bought one of these back months ago, but have thrown the thing out after ~2 months of usage.

The thing works, but I have issues with what it does. Mine was made by a Chinese company Klik. Do note that you would need to download the app in order for it to work, otherwise the smartphone will recognise it as earphones and will not play sound through your built in speakers or earpiece.

Now, I was happily using this product till a few weeks back when I realise this app was using way too much battery for what I use it for, which is basically a dust cover and 2 quick clicks for the flashlight to come on. Upon further investigating, when I went into the location settings on my phone, this app was listed as "High battery usage". Weird I thought, cause I do not use this app for any location based service. And that's when I notice that this app will periodically grab my location. Just a flash on my screen.

Upon looking into this deeper, under "Applications" and "Running Applications", this app is running 2 location based services that CANNOT be disabled.

I immediately took this thing out and chucked it into the bin and deleted the app.

TL;DR - The app with this product grabs your location without your knowledge for unknown reasons

The device/app is sponsored by ASIO/ASIS.

Isn't that negging an app more than this bargain? There are other apps it will work with eg. AutomateIt has a pressy plugin and the Pro version wad posted as a deal not long ago.

Not that I'm saying any alternative app is better/worse. Or that this button was as useful as I thought it would be.

Oh, crazy - I've recently noticed my phone screen turning on randomly, but didn't know what could be causing it. The Klick app doesn't appear in the location settings, although I did try installing 3-4 different Klick apps from different (sometimes dodgy-looking) sources, so that's positive. I'm still nevertheless a bit concerned about the app and what it might be doing in the background. I, like you, only really use it to turn on the flashlight, so it's probably not worth the risk…

    • Great work!

    • That's weird. I'll check if there's same problem with this Axgio one. Thanks for your info!

Only $0.39 at gearbest with code, you can see this right from their homepage. On another note, I'd not trust these products because you'd have to installed unknown Chinese software on them, who know what data it 'd steal from you like DoubleUKayG said. I'd rather trust the US NSA than communist Chinese.

Well, like the American stuffs weren't made from China.

    Software has location tracking.

    I would avoid.

Plus, there isn't much use to this device. Common tasks like torch and camera can be opened with 2-3 clicks on the screen.

Well, just something under 1 dollar. Can't expect too much for it.
