  • Would never travel garuda airways they have to many crashes.

  • Agreed, would rather walk.

    • Or Kayak, as google maps suggests

Its an unbelievable return airfare because you probably won't ever come back!

    • rofl +1. Garuda are not allowed into European airspace because of their safety record. Just something to keep in mind.

      haha, good one.

i think garuda's been cleared by the european airspace to fly again…

Yes be warned that in the past there have been incidents (crash of domestic flight in 2007).

But Garadua internatinal have been flying Perth - Depensar 3 times a day for a while now. Thats over a 1000 return flights a year without incident.

    • Incorrect. One of their most recent accidents was at Perth. They tried to land on a closed runway, and well they successfully did, yet it could have been a disaster. See here http://www.watoday.com.au/travel/tragedy-averted-after-perth…

      • Yes true, but if you read the link you provided there was also blame attributed to Perth runway management and safety and how they communicate information to air crews. It has happened at Perth airport before with a different airline.

It's only luck that the numerous QANTAS incidents in recent years have not turned out a lot worse.

  • I have flown Garuda 6 times and very very good airline.
    Better than most IMO

  • I'm Indonesian but never flew with Garuda at all. It just worries me sick flying with them, knowing their bad reputations over the many crashes.. although, flight out of Australia have been safe so far and many of my friends still fly with them.

  • Think of it this way, at least it's not flying with Qantas! ;)

  • The crashes was by another low cost carrier and it has been shut down since. Never fly Garuda but from what i heard their standard is improving. it is allowed to fly back to Amsterdam now. Qantas safety record is not impeccable too since the air turbulence incidents.

  • Wasn't someone assassinated on a Garuda airways plane a while ago. Someone poisoned their orange juice or something. Human rights campaigner.

  • Perhaps rather than speculation, someone would like to link to data/comparison.

After all, the internets is supposedly an information highway or something.

  • What's with the Garuda bashing ? I have flown with them and can say service is better than QF …

For those who prefers kayak / walking, try it first then you can comment all you like :)

Why dont we ask the Australian Embassy staff on Flight GA200.
Oh thats right, they are no longer with us…

      • no need to neg vote if you don't like Garuda …

  • +1

“What’s with the Garuda bashing ?”….I think overseas airlines based in less developed country that made a drastically tragic mistake one day in 2007 makes for an easy bashing victim.

No doubt there will be many people personally put off by the past incidents but still don’t think personal preference should be used to cast negative vote.

  • +1

    Talk about Garuda paranoia!

And the reference to the deceased embassy staff is bad taste.

  • Garuda.. very cheap price, but you may never survive to claim your return flight!
"Maximum stay away is 1 year" <- or get lifetime free accomodation if you try and bring drugs into the country ;)
