I don't think the hate for DS is the same as what it was, especially given all the deals recently.

    • +2

No. I fact I used love DSE but now will avoid if I can especially nowadays you don't know your online orders will get fulfilled at all.

      • even if it's PAID IN FULL…..they could still cancel the order!!

        • I'm not too concerned if they cancel, promise I wont cry! interesting though they did not have the kit EM5357PAC excluded only the phone EM5357 on its own in the above posted deal with the $60off I am sure its an oversight but they have now just put up a 5% off deal and excluded the EM5357PAC kit?

  • Great price, even without the included speaker. Beats the parallel importers.

Need deals on Note 3. I have been waiting for weeks :). I think Note 3 is good upgrade from my current Nexus 5.
Note 4 is a bit too premium for me.

  • SD805 or Exy 5433… hmmm.
I think I'd prefer the Exy.

    • I watched the recent MKBHD review of note 4 on YouTube. According to him the exy version constantly looks for extra frequencies, which then decreases battery life. But that's in US. Not sure about AUS.

      • +3

That's purely because he was using a phone which did not have the right frequencies for the US and probably very little to do with the processor.

I'd personally go with the S805 due to greater developer support for custom ROMS.

But then again I'm holding out for the Nexus 6 next month so I don't have to deal with Touch Wiz and the whole Samsung update debacles.

        YMMV

        • How do you feel about the Nexus 6 price wise?
I'm thinking that 64gb would be optimal rather than 32gb as this time around it's more costly meaning people would want to keep it for longer…

        • @BanSlavery:
Yup will wait for solid AU pricing before deciding.

With it being released to retail brick and mortar stores (& not a playstore monopoly), I'm hoping we'll see a bit of price competition ala with what happened with the Nexus 7 where you could get it for 10-20% off RRP (playstore price) within a few weeks.

For me having 2+ years of constant guaranteed android updates trumps any small hardware benefits the Note 4 might have (?camera). I don't use the Spen much so thats a non factor for me.

I'm predicting $800 + $860 AU shipped for the 32GB and 64GB shipped respectively from the playstore based off the Nexus 9 extrapolation. More details here: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2324246&r…

        • Wanam of Wanam Xposed fame is making ROMs for the Exynos N910C.

      • That's standard for devices that operate on different bands.

Similar would be having a phone and plan with 4G but whilst in Australia, you move in and out of 4G coverage (going from 4G to 3G and back and forth) which deceases your battery life

The Snapdragon is for the international market so best to get that since it'll be more optimised for our bands.

  • Great price for local stock. A lot of grey importers don't even have stock at the moment I don't think.

Only thing is this isn't good for price protection as it'll probably come up as a bundle/package on your receipt i.e. Note 4 & boombox speaker itemised as one.

Since you've purchased, can you confirm if this is the case OP?

      Invoice states:
DSAU_EM5357PAC 1 Samsung Galaxy Note 4 White + Samsung Level Mini Box Bluetooth Speaker $949.00
      Subtotal : $949.00
      Delivery : $0.00
      Discount (WOAH60) : -$60.00
      Grand Total (Excl.Tax) : $808.18
      Tax : $80.82
      Grand Total (Incl.Tax) : $889.00

I have never have any problems claiming price protection with bundle ( comes with $100 gift card etc)

      • Is that because they are itemised separately? Or you've just put in claims and been paid out no problem??

  • does anyone what is the expected delivery or pickup date? i'm going overseas on the 5th Nov 11pm, this would do good to claim GST back

  • Sorry I know Dick Smith not the most popular on OzBaragin.

I reckon you guys are going to be sad when your orders are cancelled. It explicitly states that this isn't part of the discount range.

    • A good (standard, even) IT system shouldn't allow it if it is excluded.

  • What's the warranty period for this phone 12 Months are 24 Months?

    • If it's AU stock I would assume it's 24. But then, don't be surprised if it breaks during month 25.

      • Actually you would still be covered under australian law even its past 24months but only a short time after 24months.

  • I would rather wish they throw in the great vr or gear circle.

  • The phone's design looks almost the same as the last one. Come on Samsung. Even Apple finally abandoned the iconic look they've been using since iP4 and went with rounded edges.

From the front, this Note 4 looks identical to Note 3.

    • Maybe they should call it the Note 3S

      • I agree, pretty much following the Sony Z line (Z2,Z3 and Z4). Hopefully Note 5 is waterproof and has front speakers.

        • You mean front stereo speakers? That will add to the bezel and probably force it into using on screen buttons which I don't want. I always listen to things with headphones anyway, so I don't care about the speakers.

        • @lostn:

I actually prefer having on screen buttons as I can customise it after rooting it

@abracadabra: I don't have sex with my phone..

  • DS cancelled my last deal.

    • So do many people here hehe. ..

  • My Order is still in the system. Has anyone had their order cancelled yet?

    • Yep still fine at the moment, Dick Smith haven't cancelled on me either…
as I said earlier they did not have the kit EM5357PAC excluded only the phone EM5357 on its own in the above posted deal with the $60off I am sure it was an oversight but they have now excluded the EM5357PAC kit so never know they may supply it.
I personally am not too concerned as I may even cancel which you can do within their terms cancel until they supply and re-order the HN deal with the Gear Fit bonus at $949 even though its dearer may suit me better as I didn't really need the boombox included with the dick smith deal. I had thought I might eBay the boombox but if I got the Gear-fit I probably would keep that.

DS honour the $60 web discount.

Just received an email, goods will be received tomorrow and speaker will be sent separately on the 6th.
