Nu Finish Liquid Polish 50% off, $8.94 Supercheap Auto

200

Best price I have seen for ages on Nu Finish Liquid Polish

50% off, $8.94 Supercheap Auto starts Wednesday

This is a great product if you are a little lazy and don't want to do the traditional wax thing every 3 to 6 months.

It lasts 12 months, water will bead for ages. Just don't get it on the black plastic bits.

  • Can anyone recommend an electric polisher? I think I recall hearing a Random Orbital Polisher being the way to go (less likely to damage)

    • I wouldn't recommend an electric polisher unless you are a PRO. Depending on the abrasive compound, you might accidentally remove yoru clear coat completely. Or paint.

Edit: Just read the product description and it's more of a wax coat equivalent/sealant.

    • heard good things about Rupes Bigfoot for beginners. pricey though.

      • $630 for a Rupes Bigfoot kit is the best I could find. Pitty… I could be convinced to spend maybe half that but I'm too cheap to cough up that amount :(

if i did have a lazy 600 odd dollars laying about i'd probably get a valentine 1 laser/radar detector instead over a rupes

This is what most people on a detailing forum I am a member of recomend when someone is looking for a cheap polisher

It usually goes on sale for $80ish.

This crap will take a layer off your paint giving you no finish.

Had the same issue with an old car of mine (this was 25 odd years ago - the stuff may have changed) - went straight though the paint, undercoat and revealed bare metal - with only a light application. Would never use this again.

Prefer the Carlack for my car. Great polish and no silicone compounds in it. ALthough I did like the nufinish before. Have no idea what ca6leguy is going on about though. nothing abrasive in it

    • +3

Probably cos it's called a 'polish' when it's more of a sealant. Polish implies abrasive compounds.

  • would this product be OK on my Bugatti Veyron?

a true bugatti veyron owner would know the duco is self-maintaining

      ;)

nothing sticks to it at 408k/ph, but if you get a head wind and your only doing 400kph you better use some polish

    • +1

Just make sure you rinse it off good and proper

  • Anyone know why you aren't supposed to get it on black plastic? I've got a bike that I'm too lazy to regularly wax, but once a year I could probably handle although it's got plenty of black plastic bits!

    • +1

Probably cos the bonding might be permanent and you'll have a permanent glossy smudge?

    • unpainted plastic?

    • I haven't used this product, but the one I do use discolours the plastic.

leaves a white stain…need to clean it off with rubbing alcohol

      • +1

Yeah this, it's a pain in the ass.

  • This is a great sealer. I use it twice a year and the water still beads at that time. Great for protecting the paint. I do it to save washing rather than anything to do with looks. I agree keep it away from black trim as it makes it white and is hard to get off.

  • Showing as 17.88 for me. Is it a code or expired?

    • Hasn't started. Starts Wednesday.

  • Dumb question, but how do you wash the car after you've got Nu Finish on?

Are you supposed to just hose all the dirt off the car, that's it? I'm scared that if I use wash/wax and rub, it'll rub off the actual Nu Finish that is protecting the car. What are you supposed to do?

    • just use a good quality car wash without wax.

nu finish is apparently a sealant so if you've applied it correctly (with proper surface prep, application and curing) it won't rub off when you wash your car. the coating will however degrade over time but will last longer if you wash your car right.

      rinse off loose dirt
wash in sections from top to bottom, rinsing off and drying each washed section as you go.
also, when you notice bird/insect droppings, sap or any other significant soiling, it's best to clean it up with a quick detailer as soon as you can so it doesn't bake in.
