    Arhh, just spent $600+ in TGG last week~~~

      I went back to TGG this afternoon and kindly asked if I could return the dishwasher and buy it back, purely for the Amex promotion. A manager came out and told me I won't get the cash price if using Amex, but I pointed out I was using Amex in the first place. Anyway, he made some calculations and came up there will be a $30 surcharge for doing so as Amex charges him 5% or something close. I left without repurchase as I think $30 is pretty rediculous for big stores like TGG, even I can still get 20 as profit. I would rather leave the money with our generous Amex rather than TGG if I can't get them anyway.

      What do you guys think?

        When they refund the first transaction the surcharge reverses also. There would be no extra cost for them to refund the first transaction and then put through a new transaction. Either the manager bs'ed you or they themselves don't know how merchant accounts work.

        Is there another TGG near you that you could try? If not, you could always lug the dishwasher back, refund it (without telling them about AMEX) and then buy it again afterwards.

          That's what I thought, he can't be charged three time for doing such. Asking for $30 on top might just be greedy, so I left.

          This is the only TGG near me, and it's not worth it to bring the whole thing back. I will see if I need anything else before Dec, otherwise I might just let it go.

      This could be an offer for only Amex issued cards which show up in the American express site. They may issue it for Bank Amex cards at some point, so keep a lookout.

      Weird…..I also tried to look and even log in to my Amex account; but there was zero offers, kinda weird. I normally get all the Amex offers and saved to my card that way, but there was none at all this time round. BTW I have 2 Amex cards directly with them……can anyone confirm if this offer is only for the bank issued ones??

    i just placed an order on petcircles with my amex, after registering for the deal (op's post at the top) and also the shop small offer that someone else posted (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/165381)

    amex sent 2 emails - 1 to confirm a credit for op's post, and the other to confirm a credit for the shop small offer. credit stacking??

    The Good Guys Cannington WA does not accept Amex though :( I paid for the aircon during their $125 cashback last month and paid with Visa.
