This phone would survive a nuclear war along side the roaches

    • +22

All my roaches got killed in one nuclear bomb from my Terran opponent.

    • +2

yes, but would there be a network to use it on?

use it well, Telstra are closing their GSM service before Dec 2016

      $12 too much, afaik

      • +6

Telstra can shut down the GSM network but they'll take my Commodore 64 from my cold dead hands!

        • -2

Why would Telstra want your old car?

        • LOLOLOL come on people that joke is exclusive to Australia, its not called commodore any where else!

        • +1

@Zylam Marex: I liked how Joan rivers called them "commode d'ore". (Gold toilet)

        • @altomic: LOLOLOL, may she rest in piece.

  • +23

360p recording? Lol this phone has no camera.

  • +11

    RAM: <128M

    More like <128K!

    • +5

      it's still mathematically correct :)

    • 128K is less than 128M :)

  • +1

    intriguing.

  • +6

I keep threatening my kids with a phone like this…

I wonder how long the withdrawal symptoms from a smart phone would last :)

    • +24

withdrawal symptoms can be treated with a 1 hour dose of snake 4 X a day for 7 days

    • So cruel!

  • +13

FYI Tel$tra are dropping 2G (a la 3310) from next year

    • reference???

    • +2

Thanks Food you just saved me US$11.91.

I really hope people notice your comment.

    • end of 2016 so still 2 years to go.

    • Damnit, I use 2G on my smartphone most of the time to conserve battery life as I'm often in places with wifi that my phone connects to automatically

  • +2

Yea guys as Food said above eventually in next couple of years 2g will be switched off, you are better off saving $12 odd dollars

    • +29

      $12 odd dollars

      That's odd, isn't 12 an even number?

      • No one is going to believe me if I say I actually wrote 11 but swype made it 12. I swear. :|

      • I really want to upvote nismo's post, but that would be his 13th vote!

      • +2

Each individual dollar is indeed odd.

  • +22

kids these days are so spoilt… they will never understand the struggle of pressing the number 7 button 4 times on the 3310 just to get the letter "S" when texting!

    • you could extend that logic to a rotary phone

  • +1

Probably a silly question - If I got one of these and put it in the car for emergencies, will I be able to dial 000 WITHOUT a sim? I know modern phones can, but I'm not sure about this.

    • correct !

      • +1

Brilliant! Might be a good $12 investment :) Thanks EC!

      • I thought WA Police brought it in, but maybe that isn't the case, who knows?

    • -6

      No SIM, No 000

      • +2

you can dial emergency without a sim on any phone

      • +5

Maybe no 000, but you can dial 112 (the international emergency number)

Source: a friend used to work on the 000 emergency line and said prankster kids kept calling up on mobiles without sim cards and they couldn't track them down…

        • -3

dial 112?? it doesnt even work-just tried doing that

        • +5

@TurkishDelight: 112 is a standard mobile emergency code for all countries. It's automatically router to 911 or 000 or 1122 depending in which country are you using it

        • +1

          @TurkishDelight:

If it does not work on your mobile phone then I would say you must have a weird one.
I believe any GSM phone has to allow dialling 112 without a SIM card.

    • +3

Just get a $2 voda/optus sim and don't activate. All good for 000

    • +6

      You should be able to call 0118 999 881 999 119 7253

      • +5

Damn, you beat me to it :-)

    • I'm not entirely sure these will even start without a SIM. Though you might be able to make emergency calls from the insert SIM screen, I forgot.

  • +11

    Rest in peace.

    Nokia

    • +1

I had to deal with their support department once, good goddamn riddance.

  • -1

The case, battery and charger that comes with it are not genuine Nokia parts but 3rd party replacements.

Buyers are advised to purchase at their own risk.

Also, there should be a note in the description that states this as it's not in entirety an original Nokia.

  • i had one from last deal. The battery is terrific doesnt last longer than 3 hours (normal-medium use)

    • +17

      Terrific? Did you mean terrible?

      • +1

yes i mean terrible (thanks :)

      • +4

The Nokia spell checker in action.

  • +3

battery life is a week? i disagrees, this battery only last like 4 hours and maybe its because its a fake or refurbished battery that dont hold enough power.

    • +6

      Battery life is a weak!

      /said in Mario voice

  • +4

Give a 3310 to a child this Christmas when they ask for a new phone. Watch them bawl their eyes out at the gift, so you can launch into your 'when I was a lad we had 200x100 monochrome screens and we liked it! We would walk to school in 40C heat, uphill, both ways!' speech

    • +2

You had 40 degree heat? Luxury! What we wouldn't have given for a nice cool 40C day!

    • +8

My wife has been bugging me for a new phone. I think $12 will be worth it for the look on her face when she opens it.

      • +10

She should be happy, it vibrates

      • I could swap my wife's S4, and she'd never know it was gone.

Perm on silent, and therefore never answers it.

        • +1

Perm on silent, and therefore never answers it.

lol Reminds me of my mum who used to have an S2 and was always complaining it put itself on mute.
Recently upgraded to an S5 and guess what…

I use a BB9000 / 9800 as my 'nokia' - the thing is a tank, still has modern features, lasts a week (with wifi off) - can still facebook / twitter if desperate

    • -1

oh comeon…that 9900 is slowest phone ever with full of laggs
no support on BB store. I am fan of bold 9900 look and feel but that was slower than iphone 3g honestly

just sold yesterday for $110 no box no charger just phone itself. I rather buy 9 of this nokia with that money.
also plenty of iphone 4 on gumtree for $100 after negations.

      • I don't know anything about the 9900, I said 9000 / 9800

    • +2

can still facebook / twitter if desperate

Wouldn't Tinder be more useful in such circumstances?

  • +1

If only I knew about these earlier! Would have been the perfect gift for the Grandparents at Christmas! Not only would these phones be easy enough for them to use but they would also be unlikely to remember who has actually been giving them the same gift for the past 11 years..

  • +1

    Does it run lollipop?

    • my nexus 5 does :)

      • +1

        and poorly , by reports.

  • +7

I wouldn't complain for $11.91 but I purchased a "factory refurbished" Ericsson from Aliexpress, the cover was spray painted, quite poorly too. The battery was a fake and lasted 30 min. The power supply was generic and had a UK plug. Something was wrong with the phone but I don't recall what it was.

I'm pretty sure they're from those mobile phone recycle bins you see in stores.

  • Hmm I dont know, its nearly Xmas it might go down some more…

  • +15

I bought this phone for my girlfriend when I was in year 9 of high school. She ended up sleeping with my best mate. What a piece of crap that phone was.

    • +9

I'm going to buy this phone for my best mate to give to his hot girlfriend

    • +2

Clearly she wasn't a keeper , but i bet the phone was

  • +3

Excellent value. But by many reports, the word Original should be removed.

  • Don't even try to get it repaired at a nokia store. Even though they know they can't fix it, they'll still charge

  • +3

I was cleaning out my junks the other week and found 6 or 8 of these nokia phones in one of my draws. All original and in good nick. I probably ebay them :).

  • Worth it to just play snake again. I miss that game

    • -1

u only play for 3 mins trust me. after that its going back to some corner of ur drawer.

      • Trust me sometimes the simplest is games are the most fun, i find myself playing simple tower defence games on my tablet over games like bf4 on my gameing pc sometimes.

        • -4

I bought this for same purpose.I played snake and post few pics on fb to look cool, after 3 mins i thought it isn't fun anymore.
Now days i use this brick to play as football in shopping centers and still dont manage to get anyone attention.

        • +4

@keyur11: After 3 mins you realised you weren't cool to begin with?

        • @keyur11: well theres your problem you exspect too much from an old device.

  • +2

Most versatile phone ever. It acts as a phone and baton type weapon.

    • I used one once for a whole night cracking open beers. Was impressed while doing so, not so much the next day.
