      Do they work though ?

Even if they do - for how long will they work?

Yep had too many Lightning Cables that screw up. Bought an Apple genuine one and haven't had any issues since.

only this morning thinking of buying "genuine"…OMG what am i saying.
The last 10 i got via here and ebay link worked great…then a week or so later the lightening connector got very hot to touch…. suffice to say they failed…..
sometimes "cheap" is a false economy especially when plugging into an expensive iphone or ipad as comparison.

And if they don't - oh! shit, that's another $1 blown.

Just return them for a refund or replacement.

MSY aren't that bad after getting hit by the ACCC a few years ago.

The petrol cost to drive there will exceed the $1

        • @jv: Not if you buy more than one.

        • @silent1:

Good point which prompted me to recheck their terms and conditions… Hmm.. is this in breach of the ACCC rules again, last line about no warranty?

          1. If you purchased goods, which has been shown to have been defectively manufactured, we will replace it only if we still have the same goods, and if we do not, where possible, we will offer you a refund or exchange for similar goods. This is decided on a case-by-case basis. However, you must return to us the goods within 7 days of receiving your item. If not, this warranty does not apply.

I certainly have noticed they are behaving much better after the ACCC incident, at least Pascoe Vale, not sure about the other stores, though I've not had a warranty claim recently with them. I wish the ACCC would sort out the other dodgies like CPL and Scorptec so we had some more choice on where to buy goods with warranty.

Just means the standard warranty comes in place which is return to manufacturer which may take longer.

For the cable I doubt they'd send it back and just give you a refund/replacement anyway.

  • I have no doubt the usual suspect(s) would be whingeing if MSY was giving the cables away, or perhaps even paying you $1 to take them.

After all, what if they didn't work ……..

      "what if they didn't work …" :)

I had an office friend who had a brand new Sony BluRay player blownup by using a cheap HDMI cable. When he has tried it downstairs with a good cable it has worked. Then taken it to his bed room and used with a very cheap crappy cable he bought from ebay to blow it up. At least this was the story he told be about cheap cables. use at your own risk.

If these are good cables for cheap it'll be a different story. Who knows about their quality.

      • Not sure how you can break something with HDMI since it's not supposed to carry power and the pin that does only has [email protected] (0.25W).

After the last cheap lighting cable i bought tripped my Macbook's logic board, I will always use a genuine cable.

  • any point in getting the $1 AV? can you just buy 10 and renew with the keys for 10 years total?

  • Bought one of these iphone cablesfew weeks ago. They work good but last a week or 2 before stop working. Wire is flimsy. Get what u pay for im afraid

  • hdmi cable price still shows $6

    • and still showing as $6.

    • I checked it early in the morning around 3am and it was $2.

  • Ya, I'm after that as well. Was replying to the comment above for HDMI cable.

  • thanks!

you can not ever have enough USB sticks at these prices.

My free Kogan cable is working fine.

    • Mine never came!

    • Mine too! Only been using for a week. The wire is stiffer and the head into the iphone is a bit harder to push in, but works well so far. Much better than many other generic cables I have bought in the past.

  • I think the link provided for HDMI is different from the link clicked on the newsletter.
    Link

    • Yeah, it was the only $6 1m cable when I listed it. Link fixed.

  • On topic…Has anyone received their free lightning cable from Kogan deal…I never did ;(

    • Three people I know ordered (including me) - only one of us has received it so far, and it wasn't me :-(

  • Thanks bought the lightning cable and usb drive :)
