  • Got my $20 last night after I changed my paypal linked account :P
Still waiting for my card though.

There are no annual fees with the Visa debit card. Fees arise when you use it for international transactions, which is quite standard for Visa cards.

    • Got my card last night and closed my old account today. Also tried out Bank@Post, which was suprisingly quick and easy to do. I went in at the end of the lunch break period, so there were no lines.

I'm going to try setting up an ASP between my Savings Maximiser and Orange Everyday, as I think that qualifies as a proper direct debit. Shall report back next week.

Freaking pissed off with OZForex, lousiest and unprofessional service. I'm gonna escalate this matter further with BSIO and also ING. ING should integrate this service to their internet banking for International Money Transafer instead of redirect you to such a crappy service.

    • Well, I saw from PDS that they use OZForex, so I went to the website myself and registered for an account there. This morning they rang up…

  • not sure if someone here can help me.
What would be the advantage of using either savings (as normal) or debit at an EFTPOS machine.
I know with "debit", you press credit and sign or pin.
With normal savings, press savings + pin.

Other than online, I don't see when I may use the "debit" facility. In the end, it ends up being the same - ie. money taken out of your account.

    • +1

Pretty much. Only you can't take cash out on credit. I would only really use credit if you can't remember your PIN and then you can sign.

      • cheers. thanks mate

  • Did anyone else get a call saying that due to a system error their card didn't get sent out? They called me and I've probably spent about 5 minutes on hold whilst they get things sorted…

    • maybe got popular. I think I signed up on Monday or Tues (can't remember). Received card today (Thursday), so quite quick for me.

  • +2

i signed up on sunday and got my card today. just about to head to the PO to make a 200$ deposit and then im off to coles to take it out. hopefully making 20.50$ profit. can u open up another orange account and have that linked to the same card and get double to bonuses? i think ill call them about that soon. id be care full if i got a call saying that they are from bank (NAB) like i did this morning, i simply told them i didn't trust them and wouldn't be giving any of my security details to them over the phone as they requested and i'd prefer to go into a branch. so i hang up.

    • You can have up to 2 Orange Everyday accounts, including joint accounts. So you can have 2 single OR 1 single and 1 joint OR 2 joint.

When you apply for your second Orange Everyday, as long as your first Orange Everyday is already confirmed open, you get an option to link the new account to the existing card.

In this case, the SAV and CR buttons access money from your first account, and the CHQ button accesses money from your new account.

Alternatively you can just have a second card sent out for the new account.

      • Can anyone confirm that it is possible to get a bonus on the second account?

        • +1

spent a bit of time doing banking with ING tonight. setup recurring bill payments, added BPay details etc etc. Opened a second Orange a/c after reading here. Transferred 1 cent from primary Orange a/c. The secondary Orange a/c has a new balance of $20.01.

        • +1

          I can confirm. I set up 2 accounts and have received 2 x $20 bonuses :o)

          • @DaveCharlie: Ive also created two accounts and got my 2nd $20. :)

Also request a second visa card so I can get another $20 off them because of the message below: (It implies that you cant use the 2nd account with the first account's VISA.

To avoid the hassle of managing two Visa Debit Cards, you can link your new Orange Everyday to your existing Visa Debit Card. The way you access your money and use the card for the two accounts will be different.

Your existing Orange Everyday: This account is accessed by selecting the savings or credit buttons at EFTPOS and ATM terminals. This account is used for your Visa purchases or online shopping.

Your second Orange Everyday: This account is accessed by selecting the cheque button at EFTPOS and ATM terminals.

            • @Turd: I don't think you need to request a second card. Simply make a purchase and select the "cheque" option. That should give you another $20 bonus on the secondary account. That's how I undertand it anyway.

              • @natman: Maybe you are right.

"* You’ll receive a $20 bonus when you make your first purchase using your Orange Everyday Visa Debit Card"

Oh well doesnt matter just means extra card lol :D

  • where do i send the id verification??

    • Goto a post office?

  • excuse my previous msg hehehe … have lodged it

  • :P getting a message about "Sorry unable to complete your request" when I click on the Apply Now

    • +1

I had the same problem last night. You can try again later. It seems that they close the system for maintenace at night time.

  • Is there any charges if we close the account after we get the bonus?

    • no, but you shouldn't open the account again to get more bonuses…

  • +2

They've extended the bonus again until 21 Nov.

  • +3

I now get $120 ($60 from each account).

There is a trick here. You can link the account to UBank (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/15234). When Ubank sent $0.01 you get $20 for that direct debit and when you debit that $0.01 back to UBank you get another $20. You can do it for two account at the same time.

Don't forget to apply for Saving Maximizer as well, you will get cashback from http://www.moneybackco.com you must register with the site first. Clear all cookies and start from that website to apply for the account.

    • SummerMan yep that's exactly what I did. I noticed that UBANK used Direct Debit to take money out of people's accounts instead of Direct Credit.

I put 1 and 1 together and yea it works :)

Does anyone notice that their card number is kinda sequential? Mine is.. :o

      • Yes, it's sequential for sure…

        • Mine has many 0's and two digits that are different. lol

The difference between my first card and 2nd card is about 6000 lol

    • SummerMan - I opened the second account and received the card, but I did my first credit transaction with the 2nd card without the $20 bonus. Did you get it?

      • I get from both accounts immediately after the transaction.

        • Thanks, it's sorted.
I used credit "CR" instead of savings "SAV" so I have to wait for the transaction to clear. But I just got $200 cash out at Coles without making a purchase and got the bonus immediately. :)

          • @sintro: Thanks for writing that :) I hadn't gotten the bonus yet either :) though I can see "card authorisation" for the amounts I purchased.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know why the transaction has to clear?

            • +2

@SomeGuyOnOzB: When you use the CR button it goes through visa instead of eftpos. The money doesn't actually come out of your account until the merchant processes their visa transactions. You don't get the bonus until it clears in case the merchant doesn't actually process the transaction (eg a bond on a hotel never actually gets charged unless you damage the place)

    • When you say debit it back, do you mean "Pay Anyone" to UBank? :)

      • +1

        No. Sorry, I didn'at make it clear. I use Gerd's (Ubank's) ASP.
For more info about Gerd's services see http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/15234

      • Setup a Once only ASP. :)
        $1 works well.

        • :) trying it with $0.01 … :P

          • @SomeGuyOnOzB: Thanks SummerMan for the help, and thanks to ING for the money :)

$0.01 direct debits went through and I received 2 x Direct Debit Bonus :)

  • I am having trouble loading the page to logon to do Online Banking. It can't load (takes very long and then times out) and has been like that since 2 hours ago. I hope this is not a common occurrence with ING. I have never had trouble like this with other online banking which I have used for years. Even if there was maintenance, there would always be a message or notice in advance. Not just suddenly not able to load like this. Sigh. Might think twice about using ING as my main source of banking now.

  • Is it possible to transfer funds from the Orange EVERYDAY account to my linked Savings MAXIMISER? Mine only seems to let me transfer the other way around, i.e. from my Maximiser account to the Everyday account.

And is it possible to have ANOTHER external account linked to the Maximiser?! Because now the EVERYDAY and MAXIMISER accounts are linked togheter, and it doesn't seem possible to link another external account to the MAXIMISER which sort off sucks cause now its difficult to get money out of the Maximiser into my other bank (which I'm sure is a big ING ploy to get us to use the Visa card more often).

    • murphy09, you can open another savings maximiser and link it to your external bank account. OE can internally transfer money to any SM or another OE account but SM can only transfer to its linked account.

      • Thanks. I'll try again. Maybe I was just having a slow day.

  • Hmm just did a test, and I seemed to be able to transfer from my Orange Everyday account, to my linked savings Maximiser.

You might want to ring them and ask them to step you through stuff. They've been pretty good for me in the past. I think they might still have 24 hour phone operators … not sure.

For the external account, I use pay anyone to send my money in. But try asking them :)

  • Hi, can someone explain the UBank ASP thing that people are talking about? Does that trigger a direct debit? Cheers

    • Yep, it will trigger a DD to your OE A/C and you will get $20 bonus immediately after the DD is processed.

  • I went to a post office today (and they do support bank@post), I gave him my card, selected savings, typed in the PIN to deposit money into the account, the screen says 'invalid transaction', tried again, same result. :(
The card has already been activated. Am I missing something?

  • Anyone know how to make direct debit via UBank ASP. I created the Ubank but do not know what to do afterward. Furthermore, can i make direct debit by funding for my paypal account. Thanks all

    • I am not quite sure UBank ASP.

But I just opened a Paypal account, and direct dibit 10c from ING Direct to Paypal, it takes some days but in the end I got $20.

    just FYI people.
I don't usually deposit chqs in my account (most things done online).
But I did a deposit of a chq on 2/10.
Till today (13/10) it is still not "available" ie cleared funds.
    That is ridiculous.
Ok, I agree that the chq probably has to go from the Post office to ING head office or whatever, but this is waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy too long to be holding my money without clearing it.
No more chq's going into this account.

  • i made a total of $120 plus a few 50c easily. just open 2 orange accounts and have the second one linked to the first visa debit card received and chose cheq option then savings option to make a $200 coles customer service desk cash out and deposit it back at the post office. make a linked transfer between them and the maximiser ac and do a direct debit using paypal.

  • im not game to use it overseas due to fees. does anyone have the nab gold account and used their visa debit card overseas? were you given a good xrate and avoided the fees?

  • This offer has been extent…

But you need to be quick as these bonuses will only be paid until 04 December 2009.

    • Thanks :)

      updated the deal

  • For whom open 2 accounts … just wondering did you signed up twice from this OP or via log in your ING account?

    • Log in via ING account.

I signed up both accounts by logging into ING as I was a customer already.

2 months on and both accounts including the savings account have $0 lol

  • Do we have access to free ATMs with this deal?

  • What's the easy way to setup direct debit without call the biller?

Summerman talks about it earlier in the thread :)

  • Thank you for sharing this wonderful information. Having a lot of ideas and tips on how to apply and what type of online payment to use is very important so we could have many options to choose and for us to limit the usage of certain credit/debit cards that we have. <a href="http://www.merchantaccountsllc.com/providers-Dallas-TX.html">dallas merchant accounts</a>

  • Got $120 a long time ago.
Anyone hasn't got it? Be quick, bonuses only paid until 15 May 2010!!!

BTW, NAB recently gives a better deal.
So, it is the time for me to finish my business with this bank now.

How do I close the account quickly?
I don't want to give them a call again.
It took ages to get to talk to somebody and the person took some time to process the request.

Anyone has an idea? I think it is already clear on how to get $120 quickly. I just wonder do we have an idea on how to finish a relationship with this bank quickly as well.

  • Free SMS Security and Email Alerts

What does that mean? I was expecting to be able to get emails whenever a deposit or authorisation was made.
(ST George do this) But I do not see it on the website.

  • Has anyone successfully set up a Paypal direct debit? I have nothing else to direct debit, so have selected this, but haven't been able to use instant transfers from the ING account. If I just use the card number, it doesn't get the DD credit.

The bank account is authorised, but it's just not working for direct debit.
