Anyone can advice the best value 4K TV?

    • Probably not the answer you are looking for but what the hell does one need a 4K TV nowadays anyway? There is maybe a dozen of movies which are 4K

      • future-proof.

      • How about combine with Sony 4K Ultra HD Media Player -lots of 4k movies

        • Where can we find 4K movies?

The reviews pretty much said don't buy unless you have to.

      • I have my PC hooked up to my TV. I really want a 4K TV so I can bump up the resolution of my games past 1080p.

This is why one needs a 4K TV.

      • what the hell does one need a 4K TV

It can be good for still photos, ie the family slideshow.
With moving images, it will not matter.

Also, Passive 3D TV gives you only half resolution for each eye, so 4K might help with 1080p 3D movies.
With a 4K panel, there is no reason for active 3D (shutter glasses).

    • The TCL 4K/UHD TVs are great - long warranties too. I have a 40" as a PC monitor but AFAIK none are yet well suited to gaming at 4K due to 30Hz limitation. There's a Samsung 28" monitor capable of that but I think I'd find the pixel density too high for desktop use. I'm waiting for the next gen and content to catch up.

This deal has been going on for almost half a year. The price, not the competition, I mean.

I don't understand why 30Hz is such a big issue for people. I have been playing DOW2, NFS Shift and Mass Effect on my TCL 4K at 4K without any real problems. I use a HD6850 graphics card. And yes, I understand these games are old, but the point is they are very playable on 30Hz panels at full 4K, and all on Ultra settings at that.

The 50 inch TCL was on sale a few weeks ago for $769, with 4 gold class tickets thrown in. So you can wait for a similar thing to come up. Millenius Diamond had a 50 inch 4K for around the same price too not long ago. You can wait for that one too.

    • Cheers Jinster I have been wondering between a quality Sony 50" or a cheapish 4K and I am still wanting a good picture for ordinary Blu-ray etc., plus TV. It seems good up-scaling only comes with a price.
I also want to see a 4K in person side by side with other lcd displays, which I have not done yet.
It is a bit like the curved screen phenomenon. People will vote with their feet.
