  • love the Office 365 deal that would give you at least 1TB cloud storage and Skype world calls etc

    O365 … But then we need to purchase a license in 1 yr? I hate renting software.

    • +1

      but u get it mainly for the cloud storage and Skype ;). also $29 for genuine Microsoft Office, why not?

        also $29 for genuine Microsoft Office, why not?

        Because Office hasn't fundamentally changed in about 7 years, and by the time you have a pressing reason to move a succeeding version of Office you will have spent over the course of 365's lifetime, three to five times the cost of a standalone 2013 license which would have been yours to keep forever.

        Subscription-based software only works for early adopters or corporations that mandate upgrades at regular intervals.

        As for the cloud storage… we live in a world of disposable storage and free storage hosting solutions.

    OneDrive Storage calculations:

    Office 365 University from DSE - $83.95 = $1.75/month (4 years - 1 user) [no click and collect, box with code delivered by courier]

    Office 365 Personal from HN - $24 = $2/month (1 year - 1 user)

    Office 365 Home Premium from HN - $44 =
    * $0.73/month/user (1 year - 5 users)
    * $1.83/month/user - 2 OneDrive Accounts
    * $1.22/month/user - 3 OneDrive Accounts

  • 365 seems a deal but looking at mice they seem normal price to me, have I missed something?

  • That's actually a pretty sweet deal on the SP3's and office 365. Can't believe im going to upvote a HN deal.

  • For those on the hunt for storage this seems to be the cheapest around according to staticice

  • Surface Pro 3 @10% off I'm guessing won't include accessories. Get JBHIFI to match student prices to get 10% off the whole lot.

    • not everyone is student though :(

      • You don't need to be. I just walked in and said I wanted a SP3 to do uni work and asked if they match the student price from Microsoft. Be defensive straight up and say 'I understand if you can't but I just wanted to check before I made the order through the Microsoft Store as it's free shipping'. It's not a haggle, it's a straight up proposition and they won't care whether you're a student or not and highly unlikely to check. They don't need any information student ID wise to prove why they sold it at that cost. Worst case say you just enrolled and you won't get your student card until early next year before first semester.

        • Went to jb hi fi and asked them if they could price match Microsoft with the student discount, was after the i5 256gb and they said they couldn't

  • I think it is a good deal.I bought the i5 256GB model for $1548 yesterday. Went back today as the price is now $1394 and used the savings to by the Type Cover for $147 (was $149).

  • office is free for some uni students

  • edit:
    looked it up and Australia mobile ain't yet incl., in fact about only 5 are. FreedomPop makes a more interesting offer of Telcos at this point. And I'm still operating on ~90%-available of various Google-Docs / Hotmail non-expiring(40 GBytes) capacities.
