If only I had waited a few weeks! :(

  • Time to apply for account

  • +1

Can you deposit the $1000 and then take it out the next day and still receive voucher?? I am happy with my bank. Might use the ING a little bit for 2% cashback though.

    • +2

      yes

      • cool. going to transfer $1000 right now and as soon as it appears back it goes to my main bank account.

  • +3

Is it still no monthly fees if you DON'T deposit $1000/month? I think yes, but the text on linked page isn't clear.

    • +2

Yes, there aren't any monthly account keeping fees with ING.
If you don't deposit $1000 you need to pay for ATM withdrawals.

  • Do you get a confirmation email when you sign up for the offer? I tried doing it, and nothing came through, and when I tried to register again, it informs me that the details are already in use.

  • surely theres a catch?

    • +12

      Remember what they say:

If it looks to good to be true…

…you'll find it on ozbargain :)

    • +1

You'd think so, but there really isn't.
I received my $250 voucher from the last time they offered it.
I now have $250 worth of clothes here that I didn't pay a cent for.

Other cool thing is that you can stack other iconic discount codes with he $250 voucher to get even more value out of it.

      • yeah that is great. shame it isn't instant, then we could combine it with 30% off click frenzy =D. But they usually have a 20% discount pretty regularly anyway

  • thanks. will give it a go.

  • +2

If you currently hold or have previously held an Orange Everyday between 12 November 2013 and 11 November 2014 then you are ineligible for this offer

    • Damn. Last time they did this offer, did people get the giftcards anyway?

      • I got it last time, was very lucky and got the $75 bonus as well. Was truly my finest ozbargain moment. Still enjoying the 5% cashback on paywave purchases too.

edit: It's worth noting that this $250 is added as credit to your account and can thus be stacked with other Iconic vouchers/coupons.

        • Got the same deal. Similarly proud of myself :)

    • +1

so does that mean if I had an account but closed it ages ago and open a new one today, will I still receive the gift card?

  • Why did I have to sign up last month. FFFFF

  • With these deals previously, have you been able to register an account both for yourself and for your spouse, or is it 1 offer per household?

    • Registered my spouse and myself last time without any problems

      • Great, thank you

  • +1

ME Bank should partner with SurfStitch - then it'd be on for young and old.

  • +2

Is the 6 month 5% cash back for referer and new customer gone?
I've been waiting for one of those to sign up the missus.
But I might have to settle for this deal…

PS> You no longer have to take out $200 minimum to get the atm fee waived; just have to do the $1000 deposit?

    • Free withdraws if > $1000 deposited per month

  • I just signed up for an ING account on the main web page of ING Direct. is that ok or did I have to go through that promotion link?? I thought you just put your details in there after you have signed up to register for the offer. Must be eligible for everyone though I think.

  • Guys dumb question, but does opening a bank account show up in your credit file?

    • -2

      Yes it does…

Ing screwed new customers over in the recent $75 offer
Made us wait 8+weeks before saying no good

      • +3

I read online that opening a debit account doesn't affect your credit file. Can someone confirm this?

        • Only lending accounts are shown in the credit file. Deposit/saving accounts are not considered as lending/loan accounts …but not sure about deposit/saving with overdraft facility attached to it

        • @Maximad:

I received an email from ing stating they did a credit check on me for ing (think Dunstreet did the check)

A credit check does go on your record

        • +3

          @BanSlavery:

There is no credit check on saving accounts. In order to comply with AML CTF Act 2006, financial institutions are required to collect your full name, dob and current residential address and then verify either full name and dob or full name and addreas via independent source.

Collection is done via online application which customers complete and there are two ways to complete verification:

          1) Use credit reporting agencies like Veda and Dun and Bradstreet to electronically verify your information

          2) Use agent to sight your original ID and declare that it is true current document.

          I hope it helps.

        • @bluecasper: much appreciated !

  • +1

can anyone confirm there's no catches?
ie; Can i signup, deposit $1000, get 250$ voucher, take out $1000 and close account ?

    • +2

You can sign up and deposit the $1000 and then withdraw it instantly apparently

  • I made an ing account a few months ago but never activated or deposited any money so I think its null?

    Could I still get this?

  • +2

I signed up and so did my wife. I don't usually sign up more than once (for our household) for these things, but made an exception this time (and this way we can have our own private accounts too, which will be handy). We'll see how it goes, sounds like it will be a while before gift cards are sent out.

ANYWAY, I really just wanted to point out that the application number (8 digits) went up by a count of about 800 between applications (made maybe half a hour apart or so), so you better make that deposit quickly :P The 6000 gift cards will be going fast.

  • Good on them. I'm happy with their service. Although I'm not eligible anymore for this.

Signed up when they had the $75 offer. Was near the end of the promo period when I signed up , thought they won't honor it as they changed the offer but happy to find out I got it after all. Would be perfect if they gave me the $250 iconic gift card too as I hear some people got both if they signed up when both offer promos overlapped. But happy regardless to get the $75

  • Silly question, but the T&Cs aren't clear on where in the three steps I become one of the lucky 6000

    1) Entered my detail at the promo page (done, and email received)
    2) Opened a new account, as a new customer, using details matching step 1 (done)
    3) Waiting for the debit card, and depositing the $1000

      • nubzy I followed the link the OP posted to the promo first. On that page you enter your email, phone, name etc and it says you must open the account using matching details.

I got an email ("Matthew, get your $250 gift card for THE ICONIC") outlining the next steps (open account, wait for card, deposit $1k).

        • Strange, never got that email and I used the link OP posted. When I try put it in again it says "email address has already been used"
I definitely used the link because that redirects you to create the bank account

edit: you guys are right it went to SPAM

        • @cyrax83: Check your spam mate, that's where my wife found hers

        • @cyrax83: It should be in your spam, I didn't see it either until I looked there.

I did this all back to front. Made account on ING homepage, then registered details on the promo. Seems to be all good though and details match so should be fine. I just transferred the money and now await the voucher.

  • Signed up, deposited $1000. Lets see what happens

What is odd is the email says "Wait for your new Orange Everyday card (it should take five days or less after your ID is verified)" - I never had to verify my ID and my bank account was active straight away, maybe it used my details from an ING account I had a couple of years ago?

    shrugs

    Let's see what happens

  • Can't verify ID with a Victorian license or Victorian birth certificate, don't have a medicare number.

Going to have to miss out.

    • u can use passport

      • Requires two methods and in addition they didn't accept my passport number. "No match found". Oddly enough I used it to travel this year, so I don't know why they refused to accept it. No worries though.

        • i actually tried my medicare first, but no match found. then tried passport and it suddenly worked and skipped the whole adding two methods. which was odd.

        • It says requires 2, but for me it only required passport.

    • +1

When did you guys have to verify? I didn't see anything about verifying.

      • +1

        Me neither?

    • +1

If you don't have a medicare number missing out on this is the least of you worries!

      • My family has medicare but I wasn't able to get a hold of the number in time, all good though.

  • did you guys deposit instantly? or waiting for card first?

    • I've said stuff it. I'm depositing now.

    • Deposit instantly. Why wait, you might miss out. Can withdraw it back as soon as it appears in ING anyway.

      • Any idea how long it'll take for the EFT from CBA to ING to appear?

        • I transferred from CBA at 3.30am this morning and received an email
at 11.15am from ING to say my first deposit has arrived.

        • @Stato:

That's quick! I transferred around 3 hours ago, nothing showing up yet.

        • I transferred midnight last night with ANZ and still waiting!

        • @chloeruby24:

I just logged in and my $1K is now showing and cleared in ING. I'll leave it in over night and flick it back to CBA tomorrow.

  • In excitement, I used different name in promo page and different nick name for my account? does that mean, I screwed it up?

    • They say name have to be the same so you might be unlucky if you used different names. The account nickname is optional though and only for your benefit I believe, so that wouldn't make any difference.

  • Ugh, don't know if I did it right.

I clicked on the OP's link where it shows the gift card and the terms, put my details through that and followed the prompts to sign up to an everyday orange account.

At the end of the process it didn't mention anything about the gift card, nor have I received any emails about it (including spam).

If I click the OP's link and put my details in, it says that I've already used this email address.

Don't know if it'll be successful or not lol

    • Same
Except I recevied an email about the iconic card after registering. I don't have any confirmation email at the moment.
From what I understand the gift card is emailed AFTER you deposit 1k for the following month.

      • Except I recevied an email about the iconic card after registering

Hmm, I didn't receive remail about the Iconic Card D:

  • Will this work if I close my account and open a new one?

    • To be eligible for the Gift Card you must be a new ING DIRECT Orange Everyday customer, register your details, open an Orange Everyday and make your deposit of at least $1,000 within a calendar month from an external account into any personal ING DIRECT account in your name (excluding Living Super) ("The Criteria"). The Criteria must be satisfied by 14 February 2015.

  • Hey Guys,

I just opened a new Orange Everyday account but didn’t use the promotional link (Did it on website straight). Do you think i would still get the voucher ?

I have already made a payment of $1000 to that account.

    Cheers!!!

    • +1

I would say unlikely, as I believe they match the details on the promo screen to your actual registration. I would go to the promo screen and add your details now, and maybe call ING to ask them.

    • +1

YES! I did the same thing. But as long as you registered at that promo link afterwards, and got the confirmation email (check your spam) it will be fine as long as details both match.

  • Not available for kids (<13 years) :(

  • I opened an account 2 weeks ago!!!!! urgh!

Added my details for what it`s worth. :)

  • Just created an account. Fingers crossed. Can anyone confirm how long it takes to get the voucher from the transfer?

    • They say a month following your first deposit of 1000

  • Guys make sure to screenshot the offer and terms just incase they pull a quick one and change details

  • Signed on this a week ago, and client ID was like this xxx45xxx

just signed up a family member now and client number is xxx81xxx

    that's a jump by over 36,000 registrations lol….

  • Signed up, got email confirming to make a $1000.00 deposit to qualify. Did all the steps and transferred, will keep an eye out for the gift card and transfer my money back start of next month :)

  • Title is misleading, should be "New Customers of ING's Orange Everyday" not ING Direct itself.

  • I would also take a screenshot of the offer before they turn around and tell you something else. Last time they told me another deal was for "targeted email recipients only" and ended up denying it.

They were also annoyed that ozbargain was posing deals "without knowing full deal details and criteria". Really gave me xxxx's.

    • This time it's posted on their Facebook page.

  • Define "New"

  • just did everything and transferred the 1k, do we get some sort of confirmation that we're going to get the 250$ gift card? :o

    • I didn't receive any notification last time this offer was around.
After a couple of weeks I just received the voucher code as an email.

  • Me and my wife already have ing if we were to make joint account will that qualify as new?

    • no.

    • Try it I would say….

  • +2

surprised so many Ozbargainers are still eligible to be a new ING customer

  • -4

This gift card - where can you use it? Is it like a prepaid credit card with $250 credit that you can use at any store?

Or is there a limited number of outlets that the gift card is valid at?

    • TheIconic is an Online store. No physical stores exist.
You receive a $250 voucher code as an email.

    • TheIconic online clothing store. They sell nice clothes, albeit at RRP. Though the good thing is you can use this gift voucher in conjunction with a discount code (e.g. 30% click frenzy is on currently, but they usually have 15-20% off codes) which makes it a pretty nice deal for some fresh threads.

  • Given I have just thrown away about 2 trailerloads of clothes, any chance any competitors will also put up any incentives?

  • What does this mean? they just emailed me

"Thanks for applying for an Orange Everyday bank account. We’re writing regarding the ID check completed for your application, as we weren’t able to verify your details with credit reporting agency Dun & Bradstreet. "

what does it mean? I completed my verification using my passport and have already transferred the $1000 to the account (though it hasn't gone in yet).

    • You need to visit post office to complete ID verification

      • Weird :s. They verified my passport and now say it doesn't match? not sure why they even need to do a credit check?? I thought the account was fully verified as I have already made the deposit.

    • I got the exact same thing. But my 1000 has cleared.

I don't think they want you to do anything, its strange i know but moneys in the account

      • yeah I think you are right. my $1000 has cleared too. Im not going to worry about it.

  • I've had a joint account with my wife. Anyone knows that this promo will be applicable for a person who has a joint account opening a new independant account?

  • Didn't have to verify my identity. What's up with that?

    • You were a customer before
