Syma X5C 6 Axis Gyro 4 CH 2.4GHz RC Quadcopter HD Camera US $49.99 Delivered @ Gearbest

570
GBX5C

It’s a great little Quadcopter that offers some video recording and still pictures taken during flight. Camera can be activated by radio control for video and still shots. That is a neat feature. 6 axis gyro offers great stability during flight and makes it a great little copter to learn to fly for beginners.

Plastic is very cheapish, and it uses old school gear motors that is noisy in some sense to record video. Camera is said to be HD but it records just 30fps 720P type video which definitely is not an HD so do not believe the lying manufacturer. Camera records low resolution pictures and videos which are good enough for a kid but not for some serious use.

All in all, it’s a neat little toy for people to learn to fly Quadcopter and have some fun taking low resolution pictures and videos.
Main Features:
2.4GHz control system, 6 axis gyro

Built-in a 3.7V 500mAh li-poly battery

Flight time 5 minutes. If you really want to enjoy it order two more batteries with it

    • 3.7v is gopro hero2 battery voltage. I wonder of I can rig up one of my many spares to power this quadcopter.

      • of course you can

  • +4

Lol 5 min. I was planning on buying this to snoop around my ceiling space to check for leaks and stuff, but at 5min it'll probably get stuck at some corner and then i'll have to go in after it anyway hahaha

    • +2

      Tether it

"720P type video which definitely is not an HD so do not believe the lying manufacturer". 720p is HD. Its the lowest of the HD formats. Thats why 1920p is called Full HD.

    • +9

      1) 720P can be considered HD.

      2) Full HD is not 1920P. People refer to 1080P as full HD.

      3) I wouldn't be supprised if it was a 640x480 sensor upscaled to 720P video.

      Edit: italic to bold

      • +6

Sorry, 1080p is what I meant, 1920 is the corresponding resolution. Thats what you get OzB'ing and movie watching. Point is 720p is still HD.

    • I'm not even sure why you bring this up. 1080p can often look the same as 720p with cameras.

The important thing is the quality of the picture, not the resolution.

  • I have stopped buying from Gear best, 2 out of 3 orders never arrived.

Don't often see a store rep turn up to address someone's gripe on a deal posted by someone with nothing to do with the store.. or maybe that happens a lot and I'm just not on here enough.. Either way, lucky you geebee.

  • nvm

  • I have 2, imo good for the price

  • +2

thanks for the honest review, I'd happily pay double for double the flight time and quality camera :)

screw it, 4x the amount for a good camera and 4x the flight time, think that would still be reasonable.

    • +6

how about 8x for something that can shoot missiles?

  • +1

what's the best quadcopter out there if you are beginner? any budgets will do

    • This is very good, one of the best budget quadcopters of 2014 from many reviews.

    • If budget is not an issue, I'd get this - http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2014/11/dji-inspire-1-a-badass-dro…

I bought the $49 K-Mart one recently but kept the receipt - think I'll return and get this instead.

    • Husban x4 has really good reviews. I actually built my own quad today, but im wishing i had learnt on a smaller one first.

    • I got a Top Selling X6 (Hubsan x4 clone) from Aliexpress.
Its tiny and awesome, thing flies so fast and can take a massive beating.
It even included extra battery, prop guard and extra propellers even though it wasn't listed.

Cost me $35 delivered, took about 3 weeks to arrive.

  • thanks bought one

  • How about a package deal with a bunch of batteries like this: 5 Batteries & multi charger:
    http://www.banggood.com/Syma-X5-16-X5C-3_7V-600MAH-Upgrade-B…

    • Might have to get those as well.

  • Had to get one. Thanks.

  • So is the x5c-1 (as in the 4th video) or the earlier x5c as in the title?

    • +2

Thank you so much for your kind attention. It is the X5C-1, We hereby want to share some info about how to check if it is X5C-1 or X5C: The upgraded version include red/white lettered "2.4G" on the top of the quadcopter as shown below.
      http://img.gearbest.com/gb/2014/201409/source-img/1409591609…

  • This has got incredible reviews. Watched the Giz Wiz on Twit network and they raved so was going to buy 3 for my sons, but Gearbest has such a bad rep AND the review recommends to buy extra blades and extra batteries and Gearbest doesn't sell the extras. But the banggood.com deal looks good. Anyone ever up from them?

    • Bought one of these for AU$53 off eBay toy sale so still waiting for delivery. Hoping it's great!

  • +1

BTW, the review says the camera is waste of time because the quad copter jiggles around so much and there is no image stabilisation. It doesn't matter how HD it is.

  • Crud. After seeing this in a comprehensive set of reviews as the best value camera drone I ordered it from Catch of the Day for approx $90 inc shipping and it just shipped today.

  • Built-in a 3.7V 500mAh li-poly battery

Considering it's removable, could potentially with a bit of solder work get a phone battery on there on the outside. that would give a lot longer flight time.

    • the battery is removable and has enough space to put in bigger battery, just search on YouTube you will see bunch of video shows how to do it

  • Thanks op, nice cheap-ish x-mass gift.

Also pleased to see that parts and batteries for it are cheap and readily available.

  • Bit the bullet, got one! lets see…

  • this coupon work tell whene !!! i want buy it !!

  • I added a couple of batteries to the order and applied the coupon - the price of the copter went down but the batteries went UP! Are you making up for the discount on the copter?!

  • +3

In my opinion this is an incredibly good value quadcopter. Do not let the specifications dissuade you from buying the Syma X5C-1. Take the negative reviews with a HUGE grain of salt.

Three months ago I posted my OzBargain deal on the Syma X5C when there was already half a dozen variations of the Syma X5C and transmitter on the market. Due to the variable quality, different owners had different results. Plus the Syma X5C uses "brushed" motors which means they are cheaper, produce more friction and take longer to break-in.

Best to treat the specifications as a worst case scenario (eg. motor not worn in, full weight with camera+guards, 100% throttle use, acrobatics with gusty wind, …). I suggest viewing as many owner YouTube videos to get an idea of the flight times + transmitter range.

Below is onboard video from my own Syma X5C which I uploaded onto YouTube. It demonstrates the resilience of the Syma X5C flying in some extreme conditions. I think the camera stability is good enough for a $49.99 quadcopter:

kO'd by the asio attack magpie

  • Thanks OP, chrissy present sorted for my boy..

Decent price however Black Friday is on Nov 28 so prices may be even cheaper then…

  • might be a silly question, but how do you actually charge the batteries for this? does it include a charger in the price? cheers!

Edit: Nevermind, just noticed the "USB Charging cable" part.. Cheers!

  • I am wondering whether we can charge the battery with mobile USB charger as it may be faster than PC USB port. Thanks :)

EDIT: Just placed an order, let's see how the quality is ;)

  • +1

Does this come with the controller too?

    • +1

Yes, look at the "What's in the box" section.

      • Thanks. RC noob here. Didn't realise that that's what transmitter meant. Thought it might be a chip with the frequency then you BYO controller. My bad. ^^

  • What is the range? 30m? I read the new Hubsan x4 now has 100m range.

    • Some sources state 50m but some sources just 100 feet so just 30m I think.

      EDIT:

30m as from syma website: http://www.symatoys.com/product/show/1901.html
50m as from gearbest website: http://www.gearbest.com/rc-quadcopters/pp_73260.html

    • The biggest issue isn't so much the transmitter range. It will be when you control due to loss of sight and orientation for the quadcopter. It's very unlikely anybody can still control a Hubsan x4 reliably at 100m since its a quadcopter that's very small with thin frame.

      • True. That's when FPV (first person view) really useful in this case.

simular specs drone for 31USD??? doesnt say anything about video but said something about photography and looks like there is a camera attached…

    • this one more like a drone for flying around not the video recorder like Syma and Hubsan

      • Which is better syma or hubsan? Hubsan seem to be around the same price but is a mini copter.

        • Sorry about last miss leading comment above. Both Syma and Hubsan have model without video recorder.

@Davo93: Which features are you looking for? Flying or recording? Syma and Hubsan have pretty good reviews compare to other brands. According to my researching Syma X5C is highly recommended for beginner. They also have a model without camera for who just want to learn how to fly an RC aircraft. Keep in mind that those aircraft are good with no/low wind only but you get what you pay for

  • This or hubsan x4 or kmart quad? Looking for something which can video at least.

  • Seems fun bought one though may grab the spare batteries from that other link.

  • Any experts here know whether this can bind with a Dx6i Transmitter?

  • Is this the X5C-1 or X5C? It does says X5C on the website but people on the review got the X5C-1 which is the upgraded version and much better drone

    • +1

Rep said x5c1 a bit higher up…I hope it is as I bought the one thinking it was.

  • Nice one, got a couple for xmas presents

  • Cheers just got one. I think these are an awesome buy. Would be nice to be able to view the footage in real time. Future upgrade I guess.

  • Any tips on battery upgrade?

  • Anyone got any links for extra propeller purchase. Pack on ebay includes 8x propeller and extra battery.

    • http://www.banggood.com/Syma-X5-16-X5C-3_7V-600MAH-Upgrade-B… those will give you about 30' flying time.
      this is for propeller http://www.banggood.com/Syma-X5-X5C-Main-Blades-Propellers-S…
Compare yourself to get a cheapest price over ebay

      • Will the battery fit, they are 600 vs 500 in the stock. Also how do you know if the copter is running low, I heard lights start flashing on the unit?

        • yes the light on the RC will start flashing 30s before the drone starts its auto landing. I recommend you to set a timer on your phone so you can sort of bring the drone back in time :) You can search on Youtube, they all says the 600mAh battery would fit. You can take off all the camera, landing gear and blade protector to have a better flying time and flying experience

        • @legelas:

Thanks for your help. Bought one and will get the battery pack as well. Pretty insane value for price, I wonder what sort of drones/ quadcopters the government has.

        • @Davo93: It's so tempting for me as well, still wondering should I get it or not, the same old question. I want it but I don't really need it LOL
Did you get the battery from bangood? buy a set of 5 from bangood, don't buy one from gearbest! Bangood comes with 5 battery and cable which you can charge 5 at the same time (not quite sure about safety issue)

Edit: buy this one instead of pack of 5 http://www.banggood.com/Syma-X5-15-X5C-3_7V-600MAH-Upgrade-B… (@edfoo) I assume it'd be safer with the charger set

        • Thanks I will get that set of 4, should be plenty for 1 session. As a kid I had a few rc cars which all broke pretty quickly but this looks pretty fun with a camera as well. Hopefully it arrives before Xmas.I wonder if could film up a small vertical waterfall from a distance, that would be a cool shot if you can pull it off without trashing your quad.

      • +1

Instead of that 5 batteries pack, I ordered this 4 batteries pack.

        http://www.banggood.com/Syma-X5-15-X5C-3_7V-600MAH-Upgrade-B…

It is $2 cheaper and you get a charger unit which tells you when the charging is finished, the red LED lights go off. Of course you only get 4 batteries instead of 5.

        • I wonder does it shut itself when it full?

        • @legelas: Don't know but I doubt it. This is not a smart charger. The red lights are just an indicator to tell you when the charging is finished, so you can unplug the batteries. Without the indicator you will have to time your charging to the recommended 90 minutes.

        • @edfoo: a bit dangerous I think. I don't trust made in China battery. It easily explode when overcharged. Don't let it unattended

    CHEAPER on Tmart.com US$48.99 delivered - http://www.tmart.com/Syma-X5C-2.4G-6-Axis-Gyro-2.0MP-Camera-…

    • -1

According to Tmarr photos, their model seems to be X5C not X5C-1 like this one. Not quite sure what is the update but I think it is worth to get a newer version.

      • -2

Well this is the description in the heading "Syma X5C 6 Axis Gyro 4 CH 2.4GHz RC Quadcopter HD Camera US $49.99 Delivered @ Gearbest" with no reference to anything else. Im not going to read through every comment trying to find some other kind of description. All images on Tmart site are identical to Gearbest.

This is from the Gearbest website - "The difference between X5C and X5C - 1 is just the package size, their product parameters are the same."

        • Just ordered one. Put in instruction on the order to make sure it is the newere X5C-1 model. One of the YouTube reviews stated the X5C-1 is more stable and less wobbly in flight.

        • read the Rep comment above, he states that you will receive X5C-1 model. I think they discontinued the X5C

        • @legelas: Yes, I did read the rep's comment. But because the website only says X5C, and not X5C-1, so I just want to make sure.

        • @edfoo: Yup it wouldn't harm to make sure you get what you want, would it?

        • +2

The old model has "X5C" all in black (Tmart) and new one has letter "X" in red (gearbest).

I totally agree that it should include model X5C-1 in the title.

  • -1
    • This one has no camera

      • -1

Gee, lots of unnecessary negs flying around here more than these drones!

        • -1

Agreed. Thanks for informing about no camera being included. One of the pictures had one in it and fooled me. Still, it might benefit someone who doesn't care too much for a camera.

        • -1

@nookular: Yes totally. There are a few that look like this without a camera. Thanks for the post! :)

      • -1

From gearbest website description it does include a camera. Finger cross it would have otherwise Paypal complaint would be a useful solution :)

PS: I have not negged anyone in this forum for a long long time, even in this thread btw :)

        • +1

Umm 'nookular' is talking about a different model, see his post above.

        • -1

@clarky: ah, thanks for heading me up. Cheers!

        • -1

          @com930: Thats cool! :)

  • ?

  • If I buy three of these quadcopters for my kids, will they interfere with each other when using them at the same time? (ie same frequency etc?). Thanks. :)

    • +1

I think before every fly you have to sync the RC and drone so I assume as long as they turn it on at difference time then it should be fine

  • +1

Thanks - just ordered one… hope it gets here by xmas…

    • Same here, I ordered a week agoo. Last gearbest purchase was a dashcam which came in via the Nederlands which took almost 2 months! If u guys are looking for a good quadcopter ASAP on the cheap Kmart has one for $49 which has good reviews on whirlpool. No camera though.
